Yes.. Now, after alot of months of fun, and some thoughts of - is this really worth it?
I've decided.. IT WAS! But not anymore.. WotLK is not even a "good thing"..
Yes, we will get 10 more levels.. And then, what will we do? We will start farming arena and bgs and outdoor pvp again.. Just like always.
So I decided to quit it, and now i'm playing some Warhammer Online - New game, fresh content.. It's a pretty I must say..
ONE account.. That's 300 DKK saved more pr. month (which is.. LOVE!).. And that's good, cause i'm moving to my own flat soon, so the money is needed.. I hope to see more of you guys in WAR.. Boxers or non-boxer, dosen't mather.. :) Hope you guys still have fun, and will have fun in the future too..
regards,
Mark.

I personally find the reset and new talents the most fun part but thats just me! :)
At times wow feels like a endless grind but most of the time im enjoying it! Havent tried warhammer yet but i will wait abit and see how well people talk about it in 2-3 months!

As for the OP - if the game isn't fun anymore then you should quit, no doubt about it. For me, WoW is about a number of things:
1) Social interaction - having fun with guildies/rl-friends, progressing in raids etc.
2) Sense of accomplishment - beating content I wasn't able to previously, a part of this sense of accomplishments comes from having to grind. If you could get the best gear by simply pressing a button, you would get no sense of accomplishment from it. Grinding is part of all MMO's, the key to success on Blizzards side is to find the magic turning point where the amount you need to grind is "just right" - not too time-consuming and not too easy.
Multiboxing doesn't really add anything to my reasons for playing the game, rather it removes my reasons not to. Not having to worry about PUG's is one thing. I love doing 5-mans - when successfully beating 5-man content I can attribute it to myself - it's never because I grouped with leet-T6.5-geared-warrior_06.
As for the price, I find the amount I spend on WoW monthly subscriptions ridiculously low compared to how much I spend on cafes, going out - hell, I probably spend more money on coffee than I do on my wow-subscriptions. And in return I get a LOT of hours of entertainment - if the price was doubled I would still pay and gladly so.

Fuzzyboy - Well, the social part - I agree with that.. BUT! Most of my friends migrated away from Cyclone (so that thye could get 2200 -.-) So now im pretty lonely.
I reached my goals for the game.. Almost atleast.. I didn't get to 2050 rating, but since we got to 1971, we have been flipping down and then back up to 1971.. I just dont see me getting there, and then it's not fun.
If I ever get back to wow.. It will be with one account :)

This says it all for me.
That said, I didn't have the chance to compete in gear on par with the rest as I was always a bit behind, that could change in wotlk though! (As I took a week off to level to 80. :P )
So, I'm very much looking forward to it!

I gave up on multy boxing some months ago, to focus on my 29 warlock twink 8) It was fun and cool, and 1 week ago I took a duster and cleaned Penotes, my healtankdpsadin. Geared it up at lvl 60 with high warlord and general stuff in 1 week, got insane healing in AV AND I can kill, but people asked me where my taurens were, after all these months :D
So getting 2 taurens back online, to tripple box instead of 5 / 6 box.
My point is, I gave up on it, had a fun time playing solo and now I'm ready to get back to multyboxing, specialy with WOTLK coming up 8)
You don't give up, you just do something else for a while. It's how WoW works, specialy with something cool as controlling multiple chars
and if yer not coming back: take care!

Compared to many people I can say with almost 100% piece in mind that I wont come back..
I played DaoC and AC2 before WoW
(DaoC -> AC2 -> WoW and now -> WAR)
Have never taken a break in any of the games, I just change game..
But as I said, if I come back - It will be solo.. But yea, if only I got a penny for it aswell :p

Enjoy your break.
I enjoyed reading your posts. Also, I always loved your avatar. I got to see Jeff Dunham in vegas and everytime I read a thread of yours and see your avatar I laugh and say "Slience, I kiiiieeeeell you!" all the time.
Every mmo is a grind, they all never end. Its the nature of the genre, gear resets are always great for almost everyone. Enjoy the ride! I have found that small/med breaks works wonders in reaquiring interest in games that have gone past the is it worth it stage.

I cancelled my accounts, but they won't run out until January. I had stopped logging in as I waited on WotLK, and was interested in trying out the talent changes. But my friends are playing Warhammer at the moment, so I finally decided to join them. I don't know what I'll be playing in a few months. Warhammer seems fun after two days of play, but I am not going to write off WoW just yet. Since I typically play with the same group of friends, and since we would return as a group, I won't be in a bad spot whenever I decide to return to WoW.
Then again, it's been almost four years. That's longer than I played EQ and CoH combined.

You and every other "born again lifer."
No offense to you personally, but yeah, I wish I had a free month of play for every "eureka! After dedicating 3 years of my life to this game, I figured out that it sucks! bye!" post I've seen over the years, only to find that person back in game in 6 months.
It's been my experience that the people who really do leave for good just leave, they don't make a post about it. Just my observation.

I preordered 5 wotlk but I am really burned out on wow. I hope the new expansion sparks my interest again. But like the OP said. It will be back to farming honor and doing arenas for gear. The grind is on again just in a new place. When I log in now I walk around bored. You can only cl so many people to death before it loses its coolness.

Hmmm, so you've decided to leave a game you have put 70 levels into because all it will give you is an extra 10 levels of new content to quest through before you have to farm bg's and outdoor PvP like always to go to....a game that gives you 40 levels of new content to quest through before all you have left to do is farm bg's and outdoor RvR.
Interesting logic you have, good luck with that :)

I cancelled all but 1 of my WoW account a few days after playing AOC when it came out - but then I cancelled AOC and got back on WoW before the end of the initial 30days... So hopefully for you WAR doesn't suck as much as AoC (which btw is a LOT more eye candy/pretty than both WAR and WOW ... but that only carries a game so much)

WAR is awesome man. I approve of your decision.
I play a DoK (Destro) on Wolfenberg. I'm currently lvl 15, stacking wisdom and specced for Mid/Front-line Healing (Dark Rites).
Those non-healing DoKs make me reel.
Dunno where you settled, let me know! You too tonuss.

I'm playing on Karag Orrud - on EU (it's a core server)
I'm playing a Magus (Destruction)
Come by if you like, but I guess most of you play on US.. :/

So hopefully for you WAR doesn't suck as much as AoC (which btw is a LOT more eye candy/pretty than both WAR and WOW ... but that only carries a game so much)I don't know how much staying power WAR has, at least for me and my friends. They absolutely love it so far, and the way they handle PvP is much better than WoW IMO. I have not done any PvE instancing so I cannot say what that is like. For now it is shiny and new and will hold my interest for a while. But the reason I had stopped playing WoW was because we weren't doing much as a group and were waiting on the expansion. So if Warhammer loses its appeal after a bit, I am sure we will come back to WoW and level up with an eye towards the 10 man raid progression.
I've learned to be detached about the game, but that's because I always play MMORPGs with RL friends. Having "quit forever" a couple of times, I also learned not to take an absolute stance on anything either. Being older and casual helps with that as well, most likely.
