The Art of Fear Fishing (56k warning)

So... here I am.. stuck at 63 with about 15k xp to go till next level.. and all that is left are looting quest... So I figure I take this mushroom quest.. (kill/loot) The thing is.. I need 15.. per char... and its a kinda crappy drop rate.. well crap.. :cursing:

Well my group is weird.. I choose 4 priest because of a Holy Nova Spec I saw (aka farming to help spoil my next groups)... The math is at the very end of post.. Tell me what you think.. right now all four are Shadow and its great fun.. But this post is about how 4 fears work.. and how when timing them right.. you can have a constant AoE Fear going off..

Step 1: Pull a few mobs.. Fear

Step 2: Run and find more mobs...

Step 3: Fear again..
Step 4: Repeat steps 2 and 3... Till happy with amount of mobs
Step 5: Fade
Step 6: Tank - I'm in there some where!?!

Step 7: Kill level 65 Alliance who thinks its cool to try and kill you while you are tanking 13+ mobs

So here is the math on my holy nova spec.. This is with my paladin prot/ret spec

Holy Nova Damage
Highest Rank 242-280 + (350 spell dmage) ~ 510 average
Reduce instant spells by 10%
Mana Cost 875 - 10% = 787

12% extra holy damage Pally Aura
~8k mana per priest

(10 cast * 510 holy damage) * 4 ~ 20400

20400 + 12% ~ 22848

So if anything group has less health than that per mob.. I can coast through anything...!

Are you talking about Holy Nova spec..? If so its not very efficient. 8-10 cast then whole group is out of mana, spell caster you take care of either with the 5 arcane explosions I have saved up, or line of site pull..But the damage done in that amount of time is just crazy..
Now when Fear Fishing, I have so much healing power, I heal through all their casting till they are out of mana.. ^^

Its about 180xp per mob.. So a around 1-2k xp per pull.. Each pull took about 1 min or 2.. I started clearing out the area way to fast.. and hand nothing to pull... :( Pissed off an alliance guy who tried to ganked me.. took down one of my priest.. then I feared and just threw 6 DoTs on him.. and he just died..

I've always loved the idea of AOE farming. Gathering all of the skinable mobs in BM might be a lucrative way of making some gold.

Ugh, I hated that quest so much. But I made it a point of doing gathering quests that lead to good quest lines. My thing was to just 1 shot each mob, and I killed so fast that I rarely needed to drink. The problem was running out of mobs before getting all the 'shrooms.

that looks pretty fun and very effective for farming.I am in the process of finishing up 5 sp's to 60, before starting my next five. I basically started running around a mob spawn area, and throwing up SWP on everything.
Basically went:
Tab, assist, dot, tab, assist, dot, tab assist, dot...etc until all 5 are out of mana, i never stop running around.

Black Morass trash is indeed pretty good for grinding XP once you do Old Hillsbrad to be able to get in.
