View Full Version : Now What? - New Pally Team

HPB

So I've got my shammies and pally to 60. I know I should RAF something else up before it expires. I have mulled it over for days and can't make up my mind!

5 Druids - PVE - one tank + 3 boom + 1 heals

5 Locks - PVP - dots, dots and more dots

5 Mages - Farming/PVP - Aoe spams

Suggestions? I've got till Nov 11th to level another team (but one week of that I'll be gone on vacation)

Why not try a team of 5 differant classes? Much more fun.

I've already got 70 Hunter and Priest. I'm Leveling a 60+ Rogue and Lock to go with them for Dailies and Such.

Get a team to 70.

I have 2 70's that I play together all the time, I am trying to get help deciding what to RAF before RAF runs out. I keep thinking I want to level the Shammies/Pally to 70 but then I feel guilty about wasting RAF. I'm starting to get bummed out about it all. :(

in a month Wotlk is coming out. Instead of playing the expansion with a team you will be leveling from 60-70. When everyone else is leveling from 70-80 experiencing new content.

Yeah but RAF 300% bonus XP is uber as it's not only kills but quest turn ins as well, if I had it I'd be doing as many groups to 60 as I could.

Not to mention that once the xpac actually arrives, I will be racing to level 80 on my mains with my guild. After I hit 80, between instancing/heroics I'll be leveling up the alt teams. I won't be missing out on the WOTLK experience by any means.

How does telling me to hit 70 help me pick out my next RAF team anyhow?

I am a little torn as what to level myself. I am thinking Shaman - Druid - Druid - Mage - Mage

I have a shaman in there for rezzes and I really want a few more druids for instance farming....

I am in no rush to get to 80 myself I have several 70's that I can take that direction as needed.

I leveled 5 druids it was kinda cool to have 5 hots. It sucks to not really be able to rez yourself.

I guess you need to ask yourself what do you want to do with your teams/game. I don't think RAF is going away for a while. You can always just buy more accounts and get another 90 days.

For all the people that are parking teams waiting for the patch to make leveling from 60-70 easier are you going to stop at 70? I am sure in like a year there will be another expansion so the grind from 70-80 will be easier.

Yeah rezzing is pretty cool. I self rez one shaman and rez the rest....

With ret being buffed to a decent level, how viable would 5 paladins be? 1 tank (already have), 3 dps, 1 heals

Rogues? :) I currently have a team leveled to 28 and am having fun. They are horribly under geared right now but are still very powerfull. At level 20 they easily killed a level 32 mage. 5 X SAP is pretty much awesome. Can't wait to see how well they can destroy once they are level 60 and geared a bit better.

Try the 5 locks, I'm doing it right now and it's not too bad.

Sure there's no real wipe protection, and you'll spend at least a little bit running back on 1/2 of your team, but it's a hell of a lot of fun to run by a big area and cast my 2 instants (CoA and Curroption so far) at a ton of mobs.

Maybe throw 1 Spriest (or 2 Spriests and 3 locks for better health/mana regen when they get VT and VE) for res'ing the others. Heck, you could die every 8 mins with 4 locks and soulstones.

As for melee teams, I tried a warrior/rogue/pally with 2 casters and I was horrible. Maybe that I have a better idea on what I'm doing and my macros, I might revisit a mostly melee team.

I was leaning that way anyhow. The shadow priest is a good idea for 2 reasons:

SS Priest, over and over again, no rez problems.

I already have a level 70 priest. I'm so burnt out on healing I want to go shadow anyhow.

It sounds like your decision has already been made. If not, you might consider three mages, a holy priest, and a protection paladin. For AOE spamming, this group is amazing. I love riding into a large group while mounted, and start spamming AOE. The holy nova nearly overrides any damage taken, making the depth of the mana pool the only limiting factor. FUN :)

i'd say mix it up and not go for a single group of class. Maybe make a 5 box of toons that would be able to maybe run instances in a fairly effective way :p

Since I'm far more into pve than pvp, I changed my mind again. I rolled 4 paladins the night before last (4 linked accounts). I've got a 5th sitting at almost 60 from RAF. I went to level these gals up without any boosting and it's going very well so far. I rolled them up the night before last and ding'd 24 last night. I was able to solo SFK - well almost. I couldn't get the last boss, Arugal myself. Between being immune to my hammer of justice, resisting my seals, teleporting out of range and changing one of my gals into a worg/mind controlling it seemed fairly impossible. I had a guildee (who also multi-boxes) come and kick his arse for me. I'm very suprised how well it all went. Here's some shots of me turning in my quest to Lady Sylvanas and her singing Lament of the Highborne.

Well, its not like you get locked out of 70-80 content. I leveled a group 1-60 when BC hit, and truthfully it was kind of nice not having to deal with the rampaging hordes of folk all rushing to get things done in the name of new content.

I think these Pallies are my fake deathknight fix. I didn't get beta on any of my accounts. If I squint really hard, I can almost see it.

different classes/specs are awesome, and yeah, a bit more work/tweaking to get stuff going, but after that, it will be just a walk in the park.
So, how are you handling your multi-melee team? autofollow and stuff?

Yeah the alts follow. I've got a few little tricks that worked pretty well so far.

Movement: Main uses ASDW as usual, alts use Arrows

Pulls:
Mana users (that don't hang back but pull well) - Alts on follow mode use round robin style /castsequence to pull with mana tap. This pulls the mobs directly into my main and sets the group up perfectly for the attack.
Mana users/ranged/melee mobs - Run up with team on follow, while spamming my seals/judgement macro, get main into position, 'bump' the up arrow to quick get the rest of the group in position.

My current macros for seals/judgement go as follows:
Main: Seal of the Crusader, Judgement, (none)
Alts: Seal of Righteousness, (none), Judgement

I'm running 3 separate auras atm and everyone gets 2 buffs (one macro they bless themselves, the other macro they bless a different pally.

My healing macros:
Little Heal (healing whomever the mob is attacking): Flash of Light
Big Heal (healing whomever the mob is attacking): Holy Light
AOE (everyone self heals): Flash of Light
SH*T! (everyone self heals): Holy Light

So far I don't have macros for blessing of protection or divine protection. I'm manually clicking those. I should figure something out for them. All 4 pallies are RET. If anyone has suggestions for blessing of prot and divine prot macros or how to more effectively use them, I'd appreciate it.

Paladins hit 60 the other day, despite my vacation at the beach, it didn't take long. I highly recommend them for anyone looking for an additional team. Their survivability is awesome and I can count the times I got into a jam and someone died while questing to 60 on one hand. I've got sitting around level 10: a team of druids, a team of mages and a lock/shadow priest team. Decisions decisions.

I would go with the Druids to make a stealth team. The stealth team would be fun, imo, for PVP and would also allow you to make attempts at stealth heroic runs.
