View Full Version : Are dailies much faster for gold for epic flyers than running instances?

Ok heres my deal. I just spent every last gold piece I had when I hit 70 to train skills and get 5x regular flyers with riding skill - now I want my epic flyers before WotLK hits, but I also have some other goals with these characters (get a couple pieces of PvP gear and run some heroics).

So right now I'm parked in Quel'Danas to do some dailies. I'm not really enjoying it - the lag is almost as bad as shattrath and it doesn't feel very fast, and I get sidetracked with tons of gank attempts (which so far have all failed LOL - spent 20 minutes last night fighting off waves of Epic geared 70s while trying to kill those golem guys).

Anyway, I'm wondering how much better the dailies gold is compared to say, running a 70 instance (SV, SLabs, Shattered Halls, etc) and DEing/selling the loot? That seems to be pretty good money but its hard to judge. It will also help me get rep for more blue pvp gear and heroic keys. My #1 goal is epic flyers so I want to take the quickest route there, but if running instances is going to be "close" to as much money I'd rather do that.

Also, my current stats are something like 6500 health, 7200 mana, 430 spell damage, 6300 armor. When should I try my first Heroic (was thinking SP using earth eles on second boss, or maybe SV)? I don't want to go in and wipe a bunch of times because that just frustrates me so I'd rather go in knowing I should be able to beat it. Any advice would be appreciated - should I get S2 shield and weapon first to get a bunch of extra armor and spell damage? (I'm still using first spell damage quest shield on my clones because no other spell damage shields have come along since then).

I am not sure which would be faster overall, but I would think doing at least the island dailies then running instances as you can would be very beneficial.

However, I personally am not worried about getting epic flyers for all my toons just yet. Being that we cannot use flight of any kind in Northrend until what 77 or 78 I think. I would rather stockpile the money for the 2 main sinks in WOTLK the no cooldown teleport ring and the 3 seater caravan with vendors attached.

Not to mention the monies it will take to level all of my friggin professions to max again. lol

I complete 6 dailies on the isle every day in about 20 mins. Can't really beat that.

What I did to get my epic mounts was run a bunch of heroics. It took me around a month to get the gold together for all my mounts. A good chunk of this came from selling enchanting mats. Which the market right now is kind of falling out.

I think the biggest gear upgrade you will get from starting out fresh at level 70 is a s2 weapon. This weekend is AV weekend you could get the honor for this piece pretty easily.

Go buy the "starter" seer's pvp set. While it may lower your spell damage you will be able to take a couple more hits from heroic npcs.

Heroics will be hitting you hard without some pvp gear. The other thing is that pvp gear will not do you any good once the patch 3.02 hits. I got my s2 weapons in 1 weekend of av (it was av weekend). I'm on a pve server so i don't have to worry too much about alliance trying to kill me, and it takes about 25 minutes to do all the quests there, but if i was on a PvP server then i probably wouldn't go there cause there are a ton of people there. I do about 13 dailies a day, where 6/7 of them are on the island. You can go do some outland dailies, like the dailies to get your nether ray mount.

I wouldn't depend on money with instances. The reason i say this is that the AH is crashing so fast that you almost cannot get a profit from that (i went from selling primal water easy at 30g, 2 weeks ago i have trouble selling at 25g, this week i cannot sell at 20g, so will be going down to 15g just to make like a 5g profit now). If you want to do some farming. make one of your guys a herbalist (if you don't have anything important on that toon) and get a whole bunch of low lvl herbs and sell them on the ah (herd that those are going up 200%), or save them when the patch hits and you can sell them for probably 300%.

Good advice all. I have definitely seen primals going down, but the enchanting market is still very strong. I sold 30 greater planar essences last night for 14g each, which over the last month they've actually gone up slightly. Running a bunch of instances drops plenty of greens that turn into GPEs, also large prismatic shards still sell for 14g or so each as well. A few instances runs can net me 10+ LPS and 10-20 GPEs, non-heroic.

Seems decent but then when I do the calculations it doesn't seem like all THAT m uch money. But, at least i'd be progressing with gear also. I just want a good balance I guess. I do need to take my toons back to azeroth and get their gathering skills back up - I had a miner, herbalist, and skinner, but with RAF they fell so far behind that when I got to outland I just wanted to power through to 70. Might be time to go back and get them all to 375.

In terms of pure gold acquisition, I am sure that doing as many kill quest dailies as possible would be the best way to go. 50-60 gold per turn in for just killing 10 or 20 non elites is going to be way more gold, not to mention that even non-elites drop stuff sometimes. Dailies aren't like instances where you're going to end up spreading the gold you earn around. Each character you add to group is getting another free turn-in of their own when you do a daily.

the absolute fastest way to get gold, beyond luck such as looting a valuable item, is to finish off quests in smv/netherstorm/be/etc. You can make 4k gold or so by doing them at 70, which should pretty much pay for your flying mount. And it will take about a week or so of realtime to do them all.

Quests are best because not only do you get the gold, you get items which you can DE/vendor (I usually vendor weapons, worth more than mats at least on my server). Plus you can usually do a bunch together at once, and turn in 5-15 in at once.

Dailies are fine, but its ~100g for the island dailies, and the other dailies require long travels (ogrila, skywing). That said, I do try to do the terokkar capture daily, since it gives honor as well as 11g.

My suggestion is to break up your play time: spend 45 mins on island doing dailies (its good rep, you should get around 3k/day), then spend an hour knocking out quests in a single zone, then if you still have time spend it either PVPing for welfare s2 gear or knock out an instance.

At the moment I am spending a ton of time on brewfest, but even still I try to do the island dailies (until Im exalted at least) and knocking out a few quests and at least the daily PVP.

Don't miss out on Suvega's Multiboxing Daily quest guide, it's pretty amazing and I found it yesterday.

Could somebody who knows the quests mark the quests which can be made w/o a flying mount? Because my first goal will be: Get a flying mount (actually, it'll be: get enough money for my ground mounts as well :)) once I have the flying mount I'll find my way around the quests, but what do I do w/o a flying mount?

I get about 737 a day from doing 14 daily questing and selling grays, this takes me about 1.5 hours to do... I get some mats too that i could probably sell, but i need the mats to build up enchanting

I hit 70 two days ago. Suvega's daily thread is where it is at for macros and how to do things. I just run around the island yesterday perfecting my setup and scored ~85g per toon in an hour. That's much more than the ~30g per hour from SH where I'm farming Lower City rep. I don't have my flying mounts yet an I'm not planning at this time to go back and do any of the quests for BEM, Nagrand, Netherstorm or SMV. I can have flying mounts in 10 days in 10 hours doing it that way. Not too bad IMO. Then I'll extend my runs to include the forest, HFP, Netherstorm and Nagrand ones.

Same with the daily instance ones that do not require mounts to get to.

The thing with Suvega's daily thread is that it requires a certain level of reputation with Netherwing and Ogri'la.
You can check out my page with what is the required reputation with the quests. www.icedpuma.com
Got a macro list that i use and a breakdown of Suvega's quests.
