View Full Version : Here's a MultiBoxing Quest database!
Hey everyone, i spent a little time coding this database for us Multiboxers that like 'kill quests' instead of 'collecting' quests.
Take a look around, its all pretty much self explanitory.
Cheers!

still need a little art for it, maybe someone in the multi-boxing community can whip a little up.

It looks good :)
P.S I fixed the thread name - but I really like the idea/site - hopefully someone can make some nifty artwork.
Great idea for sure. 60 now and questing. I'll make a note of my kill quests and add any that are missing from the DB.

This is good, I was gonna actually see if anyone has made a Dual-Boxing Quest Guide or perhaps a Recruit-A-Friend Guide, but the database will work.
I did read the one guide from Stav's Dual Druids guide, which was basically what I was looking for but in Alliance version. (sorry, FOR AZEROTH! :D )
Edit: So yeah I found this RAF guide ('http://www.dual-boxing.com/forums/index.php?page=Thread&threadID=12494'), which is something i was looking for in the first place, but ill take a more depth look into it and see how it is.

my only real complaint is that the ad you are showing is for a power leveling service. Which is against the WoW TOS as we all know and ad's like that have also been a source of keyloggers more then once. Not that your ad is but it could be.
Other then that I think this is a great idea!

The ad is probably just google adsense which takes keywords on the site and builds ads into the site with similar keywords. I wouldn't fault him for that.

I wanna fault you with the "Firefox Only" crap.
www.opera.com !!
Anyways, I like the idea, good work!
Yes, the adwords are pulled from the content of the site, sorry!
and yeah, i ONLY tested in firefox, as that's all i have loaded (running in linux...sorry!)
as of 3:45am ESTSept 25, 2008 we have
61 alliance quests
69 horde quests
I'm sure there's much more out there, just gotta discover and put them all in!

Opera is the browser that is available to most platforms (and devices).
Give it a go :) Running linux myself (Kubuntu).

neat!
can you show the area the quest is in next to the name? and maybe order by the questing area?
unfortunatly, any EXTRA data has to be manually inputted, i suggest giving a quick click to find out, for now.

This is going to need a lot of work to be useful. You should group quests by zone. Maybe even hub.
You can also include the 100% drops that everyone in the group can collect quests if you aren't already. Quests that you only need to collect once with, like in hfp you need to collect 4 demon soul things to disable a teleporter, you just have one character collect and disable and the whole group gets credit are good too. Pretty much anything that isn't 'collect a bunch of these' is probably good.
You can also list some collection quests if it leads to a good chain or rewards, but be sure to mark it.
Don't add too many graphics, the site looks beautiful as is and it loads fast.

Some other quests that can be added:
- cooking quests of which the items can be aquired up front
- Green Hills of Stranglethorn
- AD Collection quests (savage frond etc)
- cloth turnins

i think I might be able to help you expand this site quite a bit more! (its got good potential to be the #1 site for multiboxers!)
Rather then linking directly to wowhead I can provide you with a fully populated database with all the quest details + items database etc.....
Drop me a PM and well hook up on skype or msn and discuss it some more :)

What a great idea. I like the sorting by level but I also think we should expand sub categories by zone, etc. I just hit 40 on my new mage team and I'll definately add some quests in there.

If he gets in touch with me I can expand on this majorly since I have a site im developing which was originally going to be another wowhead style site but halted the production while i export models to enable a 3d viewer for items and stuff.....
I think this could be a great addition if it was similar to wowhead but purely for multiboxers!
This is going to need a lot of work to be useful. You should group quests by zone. Maybe even hub.
1. It's already useful to me and my team.
2. There's not enough quests to group by hub, but zone might be something i can work in. Remember, all of the quests are entered by hand.
You can also list some collection quests if it leads to a good chain or rewards, but be sure to mark it.We can add another section or view, but i'd rather only focus on kill quests (and maybe the chains that get you there) for now.
Some other quests that can be added:
- cooking quests of which the items can be aquired up front
- Green Hills of Stranglethorn
- AD Collection quests (savage frond etc)
- cloth turnins You can add them, why didn't you?
i think I might be able to help you expand this site quite a bit more! You've been contacted, i'll speak with you shortly!

Well, I wasn't 100% sure if you wanted to keep the list completely kill-only quests ot not.
So expect some additions to the list later this evening ;-)

im leaning towards a filter.
=is killquest
and
=is multiboxerfriendly
That way, people know what they're getting into, and its organized neatly. I've gotta look into how to PULL data from wowhead.com, as there's no real API's for it. I'm not too keen on doing all the work by hand. I like to multibox on my time off... (my warlocks wont level themselves!)

Excellent, and yeah you might want to add by hub as in where its at, or more like the order of them. For example:
1-6 starting area (Maybe just put in the names of the place. This is kind of a pain until you get to the major hubs like STV and some of the other places.)
6-12 Area next to major city
12-17 Westfall for Alliance, Barrens for horde (Yes there are other areas but for the most part this is the place where the first dungeons are set, except for horde which has a lower level dungeon in Org)
17-26 Redridge for Alliance, Stonetalon Mts. or Thousand Needles for horde.
Maybe too much, we can probably come up with something simpler.
And good idea on the killonly and MB friend quest sub-category.
If anyone has any ideas how to parse information from wowhead.com, let me know. I know the lightheaded Mod pulls all sorts of info from Wowhead and puts it into LUA format, so i dont see why we cant use this same method to our benifit.
Everyone, keep the ideas Coming. Version 2 will include the best ideas, if i can figure out how to realistically implement them.
Byte, one thing to keep in mind if you find a way to data mine from wowhead is whether or not a kill quest is buried in a chain that had a collection prerequisite. Before RAF was released I had been toying around with a collection free quest outline but kept running into hurdles with a large chunk of my wowhead searches being follow ups to collection quests.
The other side of the filtering was that some collection quests are ok, those being group drops, usually monster's heads. ?(
Maybe one of the more query savay multi-boxers can offer a more effective search filter set that would help sort things on wowhead or wowdb.

way ahead of you on the 'involved in quest-chain' issue, it will be a highlight of version 2.
and i'm half-way done with a process that will automatically insert certian quests into the database. Although it may take a few weeks(possibly) it's gonna be worth it.
Isnt there a way to extract all the questinfo out of the wow files? Just like people do with the 3d models and such?
ghehe or nastyer, make a habbit of replying to wowhead quests with a certain user account, download lightheaded, scrape the quest id's with that user and voila ;)

And/or we/me can manualy checka all the quests that you get from searching on google for:
"kill" "?quest" site:www.wowhead.com
"slain" "?quest" site:www.wowhead.com
Yay! each search gives about 800 results with removal of similar pages.
Realy it would not take that much time just manualy (will ofc be best) or using a simple macro.
A macro might be something like checking the cached pages and searching for the yellow colour in "slain" only in the area where it is suppose to be, and if true copies it into http://www.thebrokentheused.net/kill/add.html
A very simple solution but might be the quickest.
I'm currently setting up everything for 5mixed boxing, if someone wants to do it go ahead ofc :p, anyways if no one els will I will try to do it asap.

that's how i origionally picked the quests for the 1st database, but it left too many places for someone to screw up, so i coded a little scraper. basically you put the quest ID in and it pulls the quest name, quest starting npc, quest completion npc, minimum level, quest objective, and the such. The only problem i'm having (which i can't get the info by scouring the lightheaded txt also) is to get the quest zone. wowhead was kinda sneaky by placing it into a javascript (that reacts to mouse movement) so i cant pull it.
details to come.

I've got pretty much the entire wowhead database as of may 08.... just say if you want a copy

I've got pretty much the entire wowhead database as of may 08.... just say if you want a copy I did something similar a few months ago with a python script. I got most of the parsing done and just never put the last 30-60minutes in to it that I needed to finish it. I was waiting for my scroll of resurrection free time to end and then I hit 60s and figured I'd just grind it out in outland. It looks like yall may have beat em to it, but I could get around to changing mine to align with wowhead. I was just grabbing each quest and then doing a string search for "killing" etc.
