View Full Version : Anyone given up on WOW till WotLK

Ever sense they announced the release date of WotLK, my time playing wow has dropped and finding myself why even bother. Well i am not worried about the rep grind for each fraction cause when wrath comes out those fractions will replace BC fractions. It will take me till (and maybe even after) WotLK comes out to max all the BC rep.So i am not bothering doing the rep grind in instances. I could do more BG to get more PvP gear, but already have Helm, Chest, and shoulders which is all i was looking for (getting hands and legs from arena points). Now knowing that honor and badge gear is being reset, i am not bothering getting more honor or grinding non AV for bg marks. Doing about 14 dailies a day, i know i could do more but doing 14 takes about 1.25 hours and after that i get bored of doing the same thing every day (it nets about 737g a day). Currently saving up for my epic flying mounts (have 3 out of 5). I dual box kara once a week (other 2 shams are geared, but not geared enough to bring both of them), but that is only 1 night a week, which leaves me with 6 more nights to do stuff.
I usually have 1.25 hours before wife goes comes home from work after i get home from work, which gives me time to knock out my 14 dailies. Then i have about 2 - 2.5 hours after the wife goes to bed to play. At night time i use to play bg to get gear, but now that i have the gear that i want, don't know what to do.
I know that the better gear that i get the easier that instances in WotLK will be, but my pally is not geared enough to do heroics so in order to do them i have to do normal instances until MAYBE the gear drops. I can only probably do 2/3 instances a night for the gear, but with WotLK coming out in 1.5 months is it really worth it to grind normal instances? My pally is geared right now to do normal instances without a problem and they say that WotLK starting instances can be done with greens so i shouldn't have a problem soloing those instances. I want the Cenarion War Hippogryph ('http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/info/basics/mounts/cenarion-gallery.html') (from Cenarion Expedition - Exalted), but why should i grind on Steam Vault and get no xp, when i can wait till WotLK to come out and probably get to 71 just grinding that place to Exalted. (The dailies that i do also include Sha'tari Skyguard for my nether ray flyer)
Is anyone else in the same boat as me? When i say this, it is for people that cannot solo heroics and/or just turned 70, cause if i could solo heroics i would probably just be doing heroics for the rest of the time.

Personally I'm just getting my first team to 70 today or tomorrow, and my goals are to level a whole second RAF team to 60 (shadow priest + 4 warlocks) as well as grind instances/heroics and DE everything and try to make enough money to get 5x epic flyers on my 5x shaman team prior to WotLK coming out. I don't care about rep or anything like that but I would definitely like to amass a ton of gold so thats what I'll do. WotLK is still a couple months away so theres still plenty I can get done.

These are my priorities at the moment.
0) have fun
1) Get the last pieces of badge gear. Need Cloak/hands/shoulders (i have 50ish badges right now so need ~130 more badges)
2) Horde away materials for leatherworking * 5
3) Slowly grind gold
The way it is looking I am going to be going into Wotlk geared to the teeth with a nice backup of gold (~10-15kish if i keep up the current trend)
The most important thing is to do #0

I still have all the quests in netherstorm and smv and am not sure if I should do them for gold or wait until expansion so I can get some easy xp to get to 71. If they ever apply the patch that speeds up 60-70 leveling, then I'm going to work on getting my raf teams to 70 before the exp.

Dont save outland quests for XP in Wotlk, its horrible XP. The quests in wotlk give way more than SMV/Netherstorm quest XP and more gold too, so once WotLK comes out, doing quests in outland will be HORRIBLE xp/hr compared to just going to northrend.

Right now I am just focused on leveling a few of my characters to 70. Especially my Paladin and my Mage. Then I am going to go back and boost 2 more Mages, Shaman, Warlocks, and Druids to 60 to pair them up with a bunch of RAF'D characters that I am keeping @ 60 for the upcoming 60-70 change.
I should have plenty of options to chose from come 11/13 :)

I'm trying to get them as much gold as I can at the very least. I don't have a set amount of dailies I do every day, I just work on my team when I get a chance, whether that be 4 times in a week or only once. My guild is trying to push to kill Illidan so it makes it hard to play the team sometimes. I'm pretty excited about the expansion coming soon so I can work on my team for a couple of months in peace, but I wouldn't want to give up raiding on the priest since having a well-geared healer is extremely overpowering. Right now even her COH spam is enough to heal through almost any non-heroic mob even if it's hitting my clothies.

There will be a lot of shinies in Wrath, and you'll need a lot of gold to buy them with.
My highest priority is to get my 22 dailies done each day, then I half-heartedly farm for gear that's going to be replaced anyways.
Just got my epic flying x 5 so starting the Neutral to Friendly Netherwing quests. That's my goal before Wrath comes out, to get draked x 5, do dailies so that I have a good 10-15k in the bank. I haven't tried any LW on beta but did a little tailoring and you'll need new mats from Northrend instead of the high-end LW stuff from BC to skill up, I think it will be cheaper.
Also working on my 60 badge capes... got 1 so far and close on 2 others.

I remember replacing lots of gear real quick at level 60 when starting in Hellfire with BC.

The item collections would suck completely unless you had a ton of gold and just bought netherwing eggs like crazy, but there must be a set number of quests that can be 5 boxed pretty easily. Please share! :)

Unfortunately when you start you really are a peon to them and do the worst jobs, unfriendly skies, that's 50 relics to collect, 150 crystals (from kills) to collect), and the 1 multiboxer friendly poisoning 12 peon camps. You have to only collect 12 fel glands once picking up the quest and if you're crew is near you when you get credit you all get credit.
Eggs and the collection quest items are BoP. Each toon with a gathering profession can do an extra daily there and those turn-ins can be bought from the AH. All my shammies are Enchanting + LW so no luck for me there. I killed so many blobs and flayers and ravagers for crystals that I ended up looting my initial Netherwing Egg on all 5 the first day plus an extra 2. I've also come across 3 out in the open eggs as well so now they are all even again on rep. Once you hit friendly more dailies open up and I'm hoping it's the one to kill flayers and ravagers, I've forgotten if it is. The really friendly mb dailies are:
Poisoning (after collecting 12 Fel glands)
Booterang
Killing the flayers and ravagers
Twilight portal (kill quest)
Aldor/Scryer related daily (pays really well too)
I've forgotten which rep levels those open up and it doesn't matter, I want drakes so I'm doing whatever it takes to get there, lol. When the easier ones open up I might drop the collection ones but I may just do them to power through the rep levels for the drakes then not have to go back again. Once exalted I'll probably still do the high paying kill quests. I do the QD Atal'mal armaments every day because it pays well even though it's a collection quest so I'll be out that way anyway.

Easy. Getting second team to 60, which is at 42-43 now. Once second team is at 60, getting first team to 70, patch should be out by then and there at 64 almost 65 now and once there at 60 going back to second team and getting them to 70 also. Rep grind for Drakes is rough took me a while to get that done, like a month or two of actually doing the dailies there. But I have only done it on my shaman, pally got his epic flier a few months ago but being holy its rough to grind that out.
Myself and a bunch of real life friends have started a small guild that has about 10-12 members in it right now. So far, we've gotten 4 bear mounts since we started a couple weeks ago. Plan is to get everyone a bear mount before the patch comes in and takes them away. Other than that, burn through kara for badges. Due to the special mount you get for having 50 different mounts come expansion, I'll probably start the Netherwing grind so I can add those to the list.

I'm new here(first post). I just leveled a Lock/Shadow Priest to 60 with RAF and while I want to get them to 70 as soon as I can I'm also trying to get a Druid to 70 before the expansion hits. That means questing then getting another 5k gold for the epic flying, then doing the quest for the epic Flight form, etc. While the wiping of the honor and arena points is going to hurt my mains(Rogue, Hunter, Warrior) it won't hurt these new toons that much

If your team just hit 70 or is about to, this is a great time to play wow. The AH is wrecked, prices on stuff are tumbling. No competition for quests, guild raids are falling apart and there is more room for alts/muitiboxers. This is a sweet spot in the world of WoW.

i noticed this too. My primal water usually sell for about 30g easy... not on the ah people are posting for 18g. This really sucks for me, but what i think people are doing is not buying stuff cause it is going to get replaced soon.

My server seems to be going through a similar recession.

Gotta admit, for the past year the only reason i've been playing this game for the past year was arenas, arenas, and more arenas...mostly restarting teams over and over again to try to help people get PR. I was getting to the point where I was just going to quit until wotlk, but now that i've gotten my 5x group to 70 i've been having a BLAST with this game and it's completly regained my full interest. For whatever reason, I find soloing 5mans and gearing up my "army" very entertaining (and profitable to boot!). I havent done many BGs yet, they are definitly fun, but to me the 5man PvE is just unbeatable. I'm sure it gets old after awhile, but it's completely re sparked my interest in this game

I am doing rep grinds for silly pets: Sha'tari Skyguard (for Nether Ray Mount and baby Nether Ray pet), Sporregar, and boosting yet another group so I can farm Sinister Squashling this Halloween.
