Heya!

I saw a movie with 2 Mages that did some awesome PvP, and when I saw it, I just wanted to try the same!

I have decided to dual-box 2 Mages. Can someone help me with some kind of guide or help me from the beginning what I need and how I do it the best etc, since im new at the subject.

Is it possible to dual-box at 1 single computer etc? I'd like to know EVERYTHING =D

Thank you big time in forehand!
I'll read this forum every day.

Perhaps it would be helpful for somebody to put together a wiki or a FAQ that details the different levels of multiboxing.

Some people take it to extremes, others simply run two instances of WoW on a single machine. There are various tools and methods out there to help with different situations and some, like synergy, are helpful but have quirks and others are useful across many different types (multibox) but may also have downsides.

I am not really interested in putting one together but I would contribute to the higher end multiboxing documents if somebody were to start a wiki.

That said, you can run through these forums and gleam a great deal of information.... but it really is not that well organized.

A wiki would be great!!

Anyone what can take the responsibility and create one? =D

That would be fantastic. I'm kind of currently lost in the same limbo. I have two computers and took the information I found here to get started. I learned alot from these boards to get synergy going and drastically increase the worthiness of my computer setup. Frankly, I'm super-happy with having two machines on one desk running Synergy. Before, one machine was just sitting in the closet because I never imagined I'd find a use like this for it.

Then I jumped the gun and made a second account, got a Shadow Priest & Demonology Warlock to level 12 and put them together. Made a quick setup, installed a few add-ons, and thought I'd jump right into controlling two characters. Not quite... I found the hotkey setup to take well over an hour trying to make sense of what I was going to be doing. I was broadcasting keystrokes. I thought I had it all figured out, but I ran out of keys for my shadow priest very quickly and he's only level 12 (Thats going to be a biiiiig problem). While I can run them effeciently at this level, I know I'm going to be running very unefficiently by level 30. Theres still so many things I keep running into that I simply don't have answers for.

An organized Dual Boxing resource with tips and various setup tutorials would be absolutely fantastic. I know these two characters can probably be dual boxed. I've seen videos that y'all produce that amaze me (3 warlocks, a mage, and a priest! I can't even begin to fathem how that's done!)

But at the same token, I truely appreciate the information that IS here. But some setup ideas would be fantastic.

I like this idea.
I will write something up for the starter uppers. I have been faced with the same problems a few months back.

Maybe we can get Steph or Xzin to write about the more complicated controls?

Considering I just finished purchasing and setting up some of the rather more complicated options to control 4 mages, 2 priests and 4 warlocks at the same time..... I don't mind doing some writeups for the more complex stuff. What hardware, etc I use. I have compiled a great deal of knowledge and things like Icon Packs for X-Keys, etc. (I had to locate the original .pngs for every ability and spell, figure out the physical size, make an icon frame, resize every icon, place them and print them - future people could just download the mage, priest or warlock packs that I have compiled, cut them out and apply to their X-keys). I already host several websites and I really don't have the desire to host any more. I never intend to make any money from multiboxing and as such I really don't mind sharing all of this. I just don't want to host it and admin it all.

If somebody does though, point me in the right direction and I am pretty sure I can throw something together fairly quickly.

But keep in mind that I know very little about dual or triple boxing or the use of multibox or other programs. I went from single boxing to 5 boxing and I planned accordingly. Most people will not want to go that drastic of a route so I hope that some of you who do have experience duo or triple boxing will be interested in helping out where I lack the expertise.

Can't we just use Wikipedia for this?

Somebody make a new article under Multiboxing or Multiboxing (World of Warcraft) or a similar title.

How about a basic framework?

Not quite as good as what some of us could write though and it needs to be better organized.

I got a wiki started over on WoWWiki (http://www.wowwiki.com).

Multiboxing (on WoWWiki) (http://www.wowwiki.com/Multiboxing)

It already has the basic framework Xzin mentioned. I chose WoWWiki since most of the experience here is based on World of Warcraft, and it's a bit more lenient than the actual Wikipedia.

Also, "Hi everyone!"
