View Full Version : Warhammer Online and Keyclone?

Hi all,

I've been using Keyclone with WoW for about 3 months now, and I must say that I'm quite happy that I found it. I've run 3 locks, and 3 shammies quite successfully, and had a lot of fun with other players as well.

Anyway, I've recently bought 3 copies of Warhammer Online and after booting all 3 accounts up and running Keyclone, I've been unsuccessful in getting the windows to play together. Keyclone is definitely recognizing the windows because each separate Warhammer instance is showing up in the main Keyclone display. Also, when Keyclone is running, I can mouse over different Warhammer windows, and each one will move to the front. This only happens when Keyclone is running, so I know that Keyclone is recognizing that the windows are there.

My problem is that none of the keyboard keys are being passed to other instances of Keyclone....except the ESC key and that is only sometimes.

Here are the steps I take to attempt multi-boxing:

1.) Boot up all three instances of WAR to in-game character. Each instance of WAR resides in its own installation directory.
2.) Boot up Keyclone.
3.) Add each window of WAR to Keyclone.
4.) Press spacebar to test jump. Only main window jumps...other two windows do nothing.
5.) Invite other two characters to group and accept in other windows.
6.) Press spacebar to test jump. Only main window jumps...other two windows do nothing.
7.) Test other hotkeys (1, 2, 3, p, etc....). Only main window reacts....other two windows do nothing. (Except ESC button)

Any ideas? Let me know if you need any more info from me to help me on this. Am I skipping a step after I add the windows to Keyclone?

As I understand it, Warhammer is one of those programs that actively refuses to accept any input unless it has focus. I'm not aware of any legitimate "fix" for this, so it may be that you can only multibox it with multiple machines, each running a single instance.

I hasten to add that I have no first-hand experience of trying to multibox War, and am just regurgitating information I've picked up from other people trying to do the same thing as you, so am happy to be corrected.

I don't think you're missing any steps there; you may be running into a problem that is on the programming side of Warhammer, rather than something being wrong with your Keyclone application. In EverQuest, the same thing happens (or at least, during my tests it happened), because the game has been programmed in such a way that Keyclone can't pass through windows on the same machine. The fix for this is to either use separate computers for each of the instances, or dabble with InnerSpace. I'm not going to start a debate on innerspace here though, as using it with EverQuest, WoW, and I'm sure Warhammer may get you banned, because of its ability to programatically macro anything (e.g. auto-heal when your characters health reaches N%, etc...so use at your own risk).

Your best bet may be to send Rob (Keyclone's creator) an email and see if he has any advice for you.

It's odd though that I was able to get the ESC button to work between windows, but nothing else. The ESC default function, like in most MMO's brings up the options screen in War.

- RinThanks Rin.

Ok, you've brought the newb out in me now.

How do I contact Rob? :)

OK, so here's my next question. Does anyone know if WAR can be multiboxed using multiple machines/monitors and a splitter for keyboard and mouse? I think this is called a hydra setup?

You can Multibox WAR by using multiple computers, running 1 instance per computer, and either using a hardware broadcasting solution (such devices never fail in multiboxing) or a select few software multiplexors.

Currently, to my knowledge, your software option is HotkeyNet. I thought I heard mention of KaVoom and Multibox, but I didn't research those enough to be confident in offering them as advise.

HotkeyNet does work. I've done it, and you can find others that have on these forums using the search function.

Good Luck.

Thank Lokked. What server you playing on? It's always nice to talk to fellow MBer's in-game.

I single play on Wolfenberg, in Keen's guild from www.keenandgraev.com

Feel free to sign up for a guild invite on their forum and join us on Wolfenberg. We accept everyone who applies. The only downside is that Wolfenberg is currently a 1:1.8 Order:Destro ratio.

I currently do not Multibox, as I decided to move my other computer into my son's room so he could play with me, and Multiboxing with 1 computer/LCD in 1 room and the other comp/LCD in another room (basically non-accessible if your main dies) does not work well with the squishy sorc :p

Perhaps in the future I will purchase more computers to Multibox this game, but when I did it in WoW, it was only because WoW had lost its flavour. WAR is new and the DoK is a class concept that I can't see ever getting bored with, and even if I do lose interest, there are all the other classes which seem very fun!

Hope to see you online, if you choose Wolfenberg! My char name is Lokked.
