I'm using Octopus, currently 5 boxing Shaman. I have a number of questions that I just can't seem to find out the answer to, even though I'm sure some of them have obvious answers. I'm using one computer.

1.) I understand broadcast keys obviously, and passall...but Broadcast Clicks and Cursor seem to do nothing for me. Am I missing something? I feel like I have to be.
2.) Under Client -> WoWHook, what does Hook Direct3D do? Should this be checked? The other two checkboxes seem to have no effect either.
3.) I have no idea what the mapping/passthru/km/clicks tabs do on the Server tab. I haven't needed them, but I'm worried I'm missing out on some functionality that would make life a lot easier.
4.) Are there any performance tips other than "don't run anything else and turn your graphics settings way down?". I don't really have much trouble but in big cities I can get super laggy. It feels like more of a CPU/RAM issue than video card.
5.) I've read the author's guide to setting up octopus but it didn't seem super in depth on what the different tabs/settings do. Is there a much more definitive guide anywhere?

Thanks a ton!

hi,

to answer your questions,

1) the actual cursor option probably does nothing for a single copy, and clicks will use deffirent methods depending on whether the instance is 'hooked' and whether clicks are 'wowmode' or not.
2) Direct3d hooking allows manipulating the rendering of WoW, but its just used for on screen text, and my green border thing :p
3) Mapping - some event in, another (or many) out. does nothing when auto paused.
KM - lets mouse go imbetween different PC's
passthru another multi PC thing.
clicks, is like the key list, but for clicks.. so needs entries for broadcast clicking.

5) it is not relaly appropriate for anyone to write an entirely definitive guide since I will probably just chnage something. No one is likely wanting to do that.

Thanks for responding. I'm currently using 1 PC and 2 different copies of WoW (one for my main instance and the other w/symbolic links for the other 4). I guess I'm not understanding the clicks element. When I click on any of the games, am I supposed to be able to transmit that keyclick to the other copies? I'm not able to presently and if so, I'm confused as to how to set that up. I added Left Click to the clicks menu and checked broadcast clicks as well. Assuming that's the case, how does it handle different sized windows? I'm running 5 on a 2560x1600 monitor and two of the instances are larger than the other ones.

check the instances to receive clicks... uncheck the hooked option (for each instance) and try that. with the hooked option it will click in both windows simultaneously (I forget whether you need cursor broadcast on as well for that, I think so).
it is scaled to the target window basically, regardless of aspect ratio.

Thanks, that's what I was missing...was unchecked in each of the instances. I'm not entirely certain of when it will be useful, if at all...but it's working now, thanks much.
