I have 4 lvl 42 toons I'm boosting with a 70 mage.
I need cloth for 4 lot of first aid and 2 tailor leveling to get it I have to loot every mob. I have all my toons apart from 1 set to pass on loot and I have lots of bag space on that toon so I don't have to swap any thing about over the whole instance. But it still take more then twice as long to loot every thing then to just use master looting to get the greens+.
My question is is there a quicker way to loot? or maybe I should wait till they are 70 and hit the AH after some dailys.

At that level the cloth and mats from the greens would sell for quite a bit. At least they do on Sargeras Alliance side. Its almost worth the short pause to loot knowing that those 4 toons are going to cost you 2400 gold when they hit 60 to get their epic land mounts.

So i powerleveled my toons from 20-40 in SM and I kinda screwed myself. I had to buy a bunch of stuff on the auction house to level my enchanting. What I suggest is you leave the loot option on group loot then you can loot with you main. This is keep the level of junk you are picking up to a minium and also let you grab every green that drops. that is what a buddy of mine is doing and it seems to be working out for him.

Get to 70 and do a few dailies. All that time you spend looting, selling, training the skills, emptying bags and all that you could be leveling. Plus it's just a pain.

this must be an FAQ/noob question but is there a setting / way to get just the greens or maybe even just the blues from a run; without opening each corpse ? (or maybe with opening them but not actually looting unless there is such green/blue (like having the roll window open and watch that and ignore everything else; yet when there is a stack of mob, be sure you didn't miss any - hopefully you guys can guess what I'm trying to say; it's a bit hard to express)
in short what is the fastest way to run through an instance and ideally have a single char get all the greens/blues without actually looting each corpse - or best alternative that is quick but doesn't miss on blues ?

You could use LootFilter and set it to destroy the grey (and perhaps white?) items you recieve. So you'd just be running around with autoloot on, clicking everything and not having to bother about an inventory full of crap :)
I also boosted my way to 60 with 4 chars btw, and was so eager to start boxing I got my setup together and started running ramparts with my booster as an extra dps instead. Everyone had about 3-4 blues from scarlet and zf, 0 greens and the level 1-equipment, so the first few runs we're not that smooth. xD
But it's totally doable though, so just go for the powerleveling and dont bother for equipment until you have to! :)

The lootfilter addon is good for auto-deleting all gray items. If you set it to delete white, remember to add "cloth" to the keep list, or silk and mageweave cloth will be deleted too. I boost with a 70 mage, too, and I usually only loot when my main is drinking or if I will break the instance reset limit timers. Boosting 2 groups of lowbies simlutaneously, I have over 2000 pieces of silk cloth, around 100 green items that I haven't de'd (100s more that I have). I leveled enchanting on one of the lowbies so I can DE all the BOP blues I got in there :) I already had to make a bank to hold just silk, and when I hit Strat, I plan on creating a new alt called "runeclothbank"

so there isn't a way to make only the corpse with a green or blue item to shine to loot just those - I thought I had read about such setting somewhere

I believe your client is unaware of the loot until you acctually open the corpse, and therefore wouldn't even be possible if you hacked it.

To make the corpse only show green and above, set your looter to:
Free for all
Pass on Loot = Yes
Loot threshhold = Uncommon
I discovered this tip after not looting on probably 50 sm runs. The other 50 netted me a ton of stuff to de or sell.
Note this will not include cloth as it's white.

Wow cool ! I think you meant master looter though ? I justed the following to my main's macro:
/master MyMain'sName
/run SetOptOutOfLoot(1)
and now the only shiny corpse are the ones with green or better lot !

It can't be on free for all. Easiest is to use master looter on your main but group also works. If you want one specific character to get all the loot that isn't your main then set everyone except that person to pass on loot, put your main as the master looter, and when you go to loot the character that you want to get it will always be the first name on the list.

On the loot thing I was wondering. I have one of my alts as an enchanter. Now I have loot set on free for all basically because i like to hoover items up. They net a fair bit of gold. What happens though if an enchant recipe drops. My main doesnt see it yah ? I might even miss it. Any way around this without master looter as i like hoovering as said?
