View Full Version : /assist just dosnt cut it
Ok with my shamans /assist covered everything. With the hunter team i just started /assist make them automatically start shooting my target and that is not always what i want to happen. How can i make the slaves just select my leads target without any action taken. For example i would to round robin hunters mark so i can have 5 mobs marked and ready. Tips? Thanks a million.

I think for hunters they have the abilit to automatically switch from melee attacking to range attacking and vice versa when ranged on the target changes (dw, im getting to the point lol), you used to have to manusally click on shoot to start auto shooting after getting out of melee range back in the day..anyway, when blizz made it auto, they also added an option somewhere to disable that automatic switch if you wanted to keep it manual (defaulted to 'on').
Try to find that option and turn it off and they might not start automatically attacking when they assist. It is in the interface options I think. Been ages since I played my hunter.

There is a attack on assist option in your WoW settings, just turn it off on all your clients.
Awesome thanks for the help!

/startattack and /petattack both automatically acquire the nearest target when you run them. Most hunter folks setup macros like so:
/assist <main>
/stopmacro [noharm][dead]
/startattack
/petattack
/etc.

I stole this from you several days ago from another thread and it works great! They never go off and attack something without me picking a target now. Also, the OP may want to make sure to have an OOPS COME BACK button. simply put /petfollow in a macros and hit that if you accidently send them to the wrong target. Simply yelling NOOOO or OOOH SHIT..doesn't work unless you have voice control software. You can use it to help control them a bit better as well. Say a mob you don't want to fight yet is walking near them.. Just hit the /petfollow macro and pull them towards you a bit then hit the attack macro again.

The default keybindings in WoW has CTRL + <number> bound to your pet bar. So CTRL+1 will attack, CTRL+2 will follow etc. If you didn't re-bind those keys you can just use those to have the pet attack or follow. Personally I still use CTRL+1 for pet attack but I remapped it to a macro where I do some other stuff as well.

Not sure if you still wanted to know this, but I think (at work atm, can't verify) that something like:
/target [target=party1target]
will do what you asked (target the party leader's target).

Or if you have you main toon as your focus (I do with my hunters) you can use /target focustarget
