ok so I read the focusless targeting sticky and I am still way confused.

Could someone please give me some cliff notes like "this goes there" and the sort?

I read the post and everyone has commented on it so many times I am just plan lost.

I want to make sure these work in WOTLK as well.

Any help would be awesome!

I'll admit, It's gotten really messy, my own fault included. But read it several times, try to play with it, test with easier setups, like just a 2 box, you'll get it eventually. It's not quite something that can be easily explained unless one of us physically sitting next to you and walking you through it. The frustration and confusion you're facing now will only aid you later on when you turn it into experience. Took me the better part of a weekend to figure it out myself, but it's so insanely worth it imo.

Steps to follow.
1. make keymaps- one for each instance running.
2. make macros - one for each set of keymaps telling the toons who to follow and what to do
3. rule the world without a leader....

still working on #3 myself.

I guess I am a alittle confused as to why you need 2 keys for a hotstring and a macro

i get the press number 1 button and hotstring activates but I don't get why hotstring needs another button.

If you need 2 button per hotstring/macro then what buttons are left for typing/doing other stuff?

Or is this an X keys kinda thing?

If you have a good understanding of what is going on you can get this up and running in a couple of hours. It took me roughly 5 hours to setup all my hotstrings / test / debug / troubleshoot and now it is pretty amazing. The reason you need 2 keys is this: (simple form)

Key1 = The key that you use when the "active" window presses the button. (Your unoffical "leader/main")
key2 = The hidden macro that assist/cast based of the different ctrl/alt/shft modifiers. Basically what is happening is when Toon A is the active window and presses say #2. This sends Ctrl Alt + Z to everyone for example. Your hidden macro is bound to Z and the Modifier of Ctrl + Alt + Z makes all your characters assist Toon A , cast on it's target, then target your last target.

Another example will be say Toon B is the active window and he presses the #2. This would send Ctrl Shift +Z to everyone, and so on.
Here are a list of macros that I used as my "hidden macros" The first key refrenced is the "active key1"; then the spell name; then the second key is what I bound it to as my hidden macro. These are just some examples I have a lot of others that I added since then.

P.S.
2 Key things to remember
Point1= Copy / Backup your Bindings / Macros before you start (may want to save keyclone settings too) just incase you want to swtich back.
Point2= Get the addon Bindpad or Trinitybars.

Toon Hotkeys (no mod for "main")
A= CTRL / SFT
B= CTRL / ALT
C= SFT / ALT
D= SFT / CTRL / ALT
E= CTRL

Using the last macro you see I'm assigning my focus to whoever my active window is at the time's target. I also have some other non-hotstring buttons bound to LB Focus, Cl Focus, ES Focus, and my big instant cast EM CL on my focus target. This works well for pvp. I can be tapping 2 targets at any given time without having to change targets. Example: Target a warrior I'm LBing him down the healers are hellbent on keeping him up, now I previously setup the hunter as my focus. I begin hitting my LB focus button followed by and ES and instant EM CL on my focus. Timing is key here totally ganked the hunter by surprise and my main still has the warrior targeted, so they never saw it coming.

Toned are you going to use the focusless targetless setup from now on? Would a change to this need a total overhaul of your macros and keybinds for each toon?

I guess you could use just one key for the whole thing, but generally, using the throwaway key keeps you well used keys open for modifiers ( have shift 1 and ctrl 1 bound to other things) and solves a few macro limitations. For instance, my follow macro is just one button, but to start it, it has a stopmacro line:

/stopmacro [nomod]
/target [blahblah]
/follow
/cleartarget

so when I hit it on the current window, it does nothing. Now you could modify all your macros to work like this:

/cast [nomod] Lightning Bolt
/stopmacro [nomod]
/target blabblah =rest of normal macro

but I find there's very little room for it. I'm maxing out the 250whatever character limit every time, every macro. And from personal experience, it tends to do screwy things when you don't put it in the stopmacro part.

As far as # of macros, I only have 6 ftl macros, taking up 11 keys . Q=follow, bound to itself, F=assist paired with [, 1+comma, 2+period, 3+semicolon, and 4+quote are all attack keys. The rest of the keyboard is free to operate as normal. I have plenty of other keys bound to abilities too, but to use them, I have to tap the assist key to make sure they're all on the same target, not any different than a regular focus or named lead setup. But for grinding through mobs, often my slaves don't have anything targeted.

WTB, keyclone needs an override keymaps to go alongside his override Roundrobin and Donotpass

Toned are you going to use the focusless targetless setup from now on? Would a change to this need a total overhaul of your macros and keybinds for each toon?Yes you have to make sure you unbind EVERYTHING that uses any variation of any keys involed. Ctlr / Shift / Alt etc... all those pet and secondary action bars need to be unbound + a bunch of others.
