priest & shaman duo help

few questions. Thinking of starting a priest n shammy duo. Mainly it's some of the only classes I don't have and not much experience with. But trying to figure out which is going to be master which will be slave. Any suggestions on which to make which? Since both can be healer or dps. And any ideas on how to set things up? I did mages for a while to set everything and get the hang of it. Now I'm ready to get serious. I read macros and tips but nothing really how to or to see how everyone else does it. Like how to set up the macros so if I hit 1 it doesn't make them both do something. It's easy with both the same class. But I don't want two of the same class.

Personally I would use the shammy as the main, as I find it easier to play the char who can take more hits and has the better aggro pulling ability. This ceases to be the case when you have enough dps to drop things before they reach you, which probably isn't the case with the classes you are picking at least until you hit the higher levels. I dual box two mages as well as two shammies, and the mages can keep things from closing really easily, while the shammies aren't quite as effective and end up in melee range most of the time after the initial pulls.

so what do you suggest? i alreayd have a 70 pally,hunter,mage i have a lock that's in the 50's ...

I'd suggest you go with what feels good and is going to be fun for you. I'm a fan of dual-class, but that's my play style. I love dual boxing mages, hunters or shammies, and that's because I learned how to use them effectively together. That's what you'll end up doing, so I say follow your instincts and go shammy and priest (which will have decent dps once you gain enough levels), or maybe a tank + healer duo which makes getting parties for instancing a bit easier (there's dps to spare out there in the world of PUGs).

To answer your (original) second question, there will be a lot of macros and advice for the best way to integrate different classes in the wiki or macros section, but trial and error is one of the best ways to look at this. You could use /castsequence with different options for both the chars to use on the same keypress (SW:P, Mind Blast, Smite on Priest and LB, Frost Shock, LB on Shammy for instance) or you could set 1-9 as shammy keys and ctrl-1 to ctrl-9 as priest keys, and keep their casting distinct. Once you have created your chars and begun to quest with them, it will become obvious to you what works well and you will make changes accordingly. By about lvl 30 you should have your sequences down pat and be nigh-on unstoppable in PVE questing.

so what do you think about shadow for the priest? it can still heal right? and then can support dps and keep mana up if needed.my only problem now is specs for the 2 i wont be able to go super fast for a while till i get the hang of it, but the boosted xp will help that

ok so i got some macros going, i will leave my shaman bar as it is cause i'll click on it, but my priest i'm havign alot of troubles getting macros right using bartender and i set up on my alt (priest) to have it page bar #2 so when i hit alt it'll bring up all the slots for bar 2 not bar 1 (as i use bar 1 that's alreasy set up 1-= for common things (attack macro's etc)

i have a big button macro (set as alt #2)
/focus jelna
/target focus
/follow
/assist
/stopcasting

my healing ones i did independantly (would love some info on how to combine it into 1)
/target focus
/cast Lesser Heal
for it to heal my main (have it set up as alt #3

/target jelnb
/cast Lesser Heal
(set to heal herself, alt #4)

and my attack that i have set as when i hit # 2 on my keyboard
/assist focus
/cast Smite


but now i'mg etting shadow word pain, and some other buffs could really use some help on how to get them all better so i dont have to have 500 macros :( i thin i'm doin it the hard way and could use some help, also jamba isnt' working with quests for some reason was working fine on my other toons when i had the same classes but today with the 2 classes it's not working i have to do the quests individ. on each one
