After attempting to upgrade one of my RAF accounts I received "Error 202" and it won't allow me to upgrade.

I've seen a few people have received this when upgrading multiple accounts but has anyone actually been able to resolve it without resorting to buying a boxed copy?

My main problem is it allowed me to upgrade to standard WoW but not BC and its pretty hard to find anything but the battlechest around here.

I have tried from multiple PC's (different IP's), multiple credit cards and even tried upgrading another account with no success.

At this stage it appears I'll have to contact billing by phone but it's a bitch with timezones etc

Yep I got this as well - I believe it has to do with trying to use a credit card to upgrade multiple accounts and the credit card is in the same name. So using different credit cards won't work either. The other problem is, unlike the 303 error, it doesn't go away after 24-48 hours. Yep, it sucks... :(

If you call customer service they can resolve it for you manually over the phone. At least that is what i did and that is what happened for me when i called.

Good to hear of someone actually having success over the phone. Think I have to wait until 1am or something for their helpdesk to be open though :(

I had this exact error for 2 days straight trying to upgrade from trial accounts. 3 went through no problem, but i couldn't get the last 2. talked with Bliz, they said it was external to their system. So i called my bank, and they told me they didn't have a hold on the account, called bliz again, tried again, no good. I eventually had to go buy 2 new battlechests to get upgraded.

Switching pc is not enough, if you are just doing it at home. At least for me, what I did was VPN to my workplace, and then upgrade my last 2 accounts from there (means I have a completely different public IP)

There is no reason you should have to buy new keys, unless the keys already are in use (if you bought them online yourself, that is however very unlikely)

If you can't upgrade them from a secondary location, I'd really suggest calling their customer support, I've heard that they are able to solve this quite fast.

I had this issue as well, though I was using battlechests bought in the store anyway.

It seems to have something to do with creating more than 3 trial accounts from the same IP, I presume it's an anti-spam measure.

I created and upgraded 3 accounts with RAF and battlechest keys. The 4th account would not create, either error 202 or 203.

I called billing and gave him the invitation code and the rest of my information and he created the 4th account.

I noticed that I didn't get a "Account created successfully email" for the one I created on the phone with billing by the way.

I managed to get through to billing on the phone.

All they did was attempt to put through the purchase at their end and received same error. All they could advise was to contact the bank (clearly not the bank) or purchase a boxed copy.

Pretty pathetic really. Not sure if I should just call back and hope I have more luck with different staff members?

FYI.

The Upgrades server is separated from the game time server, and is much more finicky.

IF you are trying to purchase or upgrade the game from a country, city or large enough area away from where your CC is, or where you have put in your address, you will get an error. you can call their account mgmt and ask for a manual charge on your CC, but the system wont allow it.

not sure if this is the problem, but you should be aware that this will not work.

The same credit card worked minutes before for the standard WoW purchase so isn't that.

Second attempt ended with the same result and I really cant be bothered holding for ages, repeating all my details etc again and again.

I managed to find standalone BC on the net so have purchased that with a battlechest.

Was hoping to be 5boxing this weekend but looks like it will have to wait.

everytime I upgrade an account online my bank calls me or shuts my credit card down. Then to top it off Blizzard puts a 3 day hold on the upgrade going though.

sorry, no perls of wisdom here other than go and buy the boxed version of the upgrade. it's the same price and it works immediately.

Wow hearing all of this i feel really lucky that my phone call worked. I was upset that i was getting the error. I asked them to manually enter it in. I worked to upgrade to BC. I upgrade to regular fine then got error when i tried to upgrade to BC. Then i had a whole nother account to upgrade. On that one they got an error too... i just had them try again a few times and for whatever reason it worked. I wanted the tweak taken off my card so i could use it and they said it was from my bank. I called my bank and they said it wasn't them and it was blizz. So i called them again... but they weren't really helpful... they kept saying it was my bank.

They did get the upgrades over the phone. I don't even try to upgrade via comp anymore i just buy boxes.
