Hello!

I am new to the world of multi-boxing and decided to try boxing all on my one PC!

Soon to be 5 boxing, just testing waters for now.

Each client runs at 70 FPS :) Highly playable

Unfortunately, my second monitor has low quality compared to my better monitor and the colors are different :(

Here are some pictures..

***UPDATED****

Got 5 box running!! **EDIT** New Picture

Looks great. What are the specs on your machine? Are you using horizontal span instead of dual view?

where do you plan to put the 5th window? :p

I personally would go 2x2 on the 2nd monitor and one full size on the main monitor...

The current specs of my PC is .. umm.. (not computer savvy)

2.66GHZ Core 2 Duo
8800 GTX
4GB Ram

Did I miss anything?

I use horizontal span instead of dual view, because direct X is bugged on XP. If I use dual view, its almost impossible to play, due to the fact that fps is cut so low.

With WoW maximizer on keyclone, this horizontal span works well for me anyways. No complaints.

My 5th, I think I'm going to try and do quad on second monitor and one on main monitor.

Thats what I want to do. I plan to put Quad on second monitor, since they will all be warlocks and the priest ( main ) on main monitor.

The only problem is, with keyclone maximizer, it is VERY hard for me to set this up. If someone could put up a paint demo or something, explaning how I can make it so I can do 5 regions.

1 main, and 4 quad.

Thanks :)

Unless im mistaken Keyclone maximizer doesn't support dual monitor as of yet, but please correct me if im wrong

You are absolutely correct, it doesn't. However, with horizontal span, it lines up as if it was dual monitor. If you look at my screenshots.

I will click in the middle of maximizer and make it quad.

2 screens one monitor , 2 screens the other. I love it :)

It looks like you've got a bunch of unused space in your 5 box setup. Is that because you're using keyclones maximizer? I've never used it so I don't know if there is anything to gain from it.

You might want to just make a batch script to run maximizer (the program, not the version keyclone coded up) 5 times so you can get the coordinates exactly right.

My right monitor is an lcd with max 1280x1024, so when I use horizontal span I get a 2560x1024 screen. To run 5 wows I use this batch file which puts 4 evenly spaced windows on my bigger 20" wide screen monitor (left) and 1 window on the 19" lcd (right).

[code:1]
REM batch file to launch 5 evenly spaced wows
REM right monitor
d:\wow\wow1\maximizer.exe --margin 0,0,1280,0
REM upper right of left mon
d:\wow\wow1\maximizer.exe --margin 0,512,640,1280
REM upper left of left mon
d:\wow\wow1\maximizer.exe --margin 0,512,0,1920
REM lower right of left mon
d:\wow\wow1\maximizer.exe --margin 512,0,640,1280
REM lower left of left mon
d:\wow\wow1\maximizer.exe --margin 512,0,0,1920
[/code:1]

Sorry if you already knew about it :o

Anyhow hopefully its helpful to someone.

how do i use this batch file?

and can you reverse it?

I'd rather have the main char on the 20", ( left )

and the 4 warlocks on the right.

Thanks

You need to snag the program wow maximizer from here:

http://worldofwarcraft.filefront.com/file/Maximizer;43576

Unzip it into your wow folder.

The --margin command takes 4 numbers top, bottom, left, right.

Here is the reversed version (I hope, I didn't test it)

Replace d:\wow\wow1\ with your actual wow directory.

Again, this is dependent upon your your desktop being 2560x1024, if not let me know and we can create another one.

copy and paste this code into a file called launchwow.bat then just double click it, if you wait patiently all of the windows will launch.

[code:1]REM batch file to launch 5 evenly spaced wows
REM Left monitor
d:\wow\wow1\maximizer.exe --margin 0,0,0,1280
REM upper right of right mon
d:\wow\wow1\maximizer.exe --margin 0,512,1920,0
REM upper left of right mon
d:\wow\wow1\maximizer.exe --margin 0,512,1280,640
REM lower right of right mon
d:\wow\wow1\maximizer.exe --margin 512,0,1920,0
REM lower left of right mon
d:\wow\wow1\maximizer.exe --margin 512,0,1280,640
[/code:1]

all 4 windows on the right monitor will be 640x512 in size, the one on the left will be 1280x1024

Hope that works, let me know if it doesn't

thanks for taking your time to do this, appreciate it

now, my computer is a beast.

I use wow maximizer inside keyclone. Can you create a batch that has a main screen of 1024x768, and on the right 4 screens 1024x768 each??

Thanks

Is that right? Or wouldn't you have code like

C:\games\WOW1\max....
C:\games\WOW2\max....
C:\games\WOW3\max....
C:\games\WOW4\max....
C:\games\WOW5\max....

Or do you actually run it with all games starting out of that single folder?

Not sure what you mean by this. You can only have so many pixels on your monitor, 4 screens of 1024x768 on the right monitor would need the monitor to have a total resolution of 2048x1536.

I can probably help if you can clarify the problem.

Or do you actually run it with all games starting out of that single folder?

I installed wow with the intent of some day making multiple directories, but for my initial testing of stuff 1 directory seemed fine. I can see wanting to separate them out for UI addons and such, but I haven't started multiboxxing yet aside from some trial accounts.

Too damned expensive...scared of dropping $200 on BC enabled accounts and deciding a few days later that its too boring to level up.

I am trying to run the games out of each different folder.

******Oh by the way. The batch you gave me. The screens work fine. Thanks!! Just need to figure out different directories now.******

c:\program files\world of warcraft\
c:\wow2\
c:\wow3\
c:\wow4\
c:\wow5\

I tried the batch file, and edited the directories. But the screens didn't come up right. When I switched to c:\wow2\ for all of them. They came up correctly.

This is very difficult, because I have to type username/password for 5 different accounts, and I can't use a WTF UI Interface.

mxracer, make sure all of the different installs are set to windowed mode and in general have the same video settings.

thanks!!! managed to fix it :)

Whats the advantage of running separate installs vs running different instances of 1 install?

Whats the advantage of running separate installs vs running different instances of 1 install?

When I have 5 different folders, for example

[code:1]c:\wow1
c:\wow2
c:\wow3
c:\wow4
c:\wow5[/code:1]

This enables it so each one is a different WoW. It gets real old when you have to type 5 account names and passwords each time you want on. However, when I load them all up, and I have keyclone running.
I just type the password once, hit enter, enter, and boom.. I'm in game.

Having a seperate wow, also enables you to use Interfaces that deal with the WTF folder.

*Also, take notice*

These are not seperate "installs" They are just copies of the main World of Warcraft folder at c:\program files\world of warcraft.

I just copied it, and copied them all to the main C:\ drive, and renamed them wow1, wow2, etc..

Well, I 5 box on 4(or 5) different machines, so I already essentially do this.

I was thinking of trying to get 3 instances on my main machine, and 2 running on one of my "alt" machines.... but who knows. Why fix it when it ain't broke right?

Quite true :)

Though, this leads me to remember the "Remember my username" feature that WoW has. I've been manually logging in to each machine... it's been rough. I should just log in using keyclone like you do.

How do you update all the different copies of WoW? I made a second copy to try out, but had problems on the last patch. I would start the second copy, get the out-of-date message, but when it quit and opened the downloader it said I already had the latest patch. I tried copying over the patch file and running it in the wow2 folder, but that didn't work either. Do I have to re-copy everything every patch?

Kadaan.

I went to C:\Program Files

I copied the World of Warcraft folder. (The whole thing)

I then pasted it directly into C:\

Then I renamed the folder to WoW1 ( did this all the way up to WoW5)

Now, go into one of the 5 folders. Make a shortcut of the wow.exe and rename it WoW1 all the way up to 5.

If that doesn't work. Let me know

i like the way this is done, but i only duel box. Im looking for a way to set one screen to have both wows on it and have the other for quest lookup and the like.
