Hello Everyone
Ive had a read through wiki, and some of this forum and im ready to take the plunge into multi boxing on world of warcraft. Im pretty happy with how it works and software seems (time consuming) but straight forward
I am however not in a postion to replicate my PC so will go down the route of 'hardware boxing' *edit - software boxing* and was wondering if i could have some expert advice on what my PC should be able to handle
I understand the less lazy route would be to experiment but i dont want to dive in with 5 and realise i can do it, or just do two to be told i could have done 4 (if you get my drift)
So, my PC stands in at:
Core 2 Duo 2.6ghz (not overclocked) (i belive its the E6750)
4GB of ram Dominator corsair (please dont laugh, i know its overkill but i got it cheap! i belive its clocked to 1033mzh)
GTX 260 BFG overclocked
Running an old widows XP32bit (so therefore only using 3.2g of my 4g ram)
Internet connection is 11mbps (although have to share it with my wife sometimes!)
So, can i get away with 4-5? or is there no hope and should i stick with my druid
Many thanks

Hardware boxing is: more than one machine
So what your talking about is software boxing (running several accounts on ONE machine)
You SHOULD be able to run 4-5 on that without problems.. That's my point of view atleast - A little more ram would probaly do good, but hey! I'm not an expert.. :)
And btw! Trial account.. Free for testing MB.. :>
I started on a ..
1.8ghz athlon venice core
7800gtx
2gb ddr400
ran 5, 4 alts capped at 15fps, usually got 30ish on the main. orgrimmar was a bummer though.
edit: guess what i'm trying to say is.. it's all about your tolerance for lag. other than capital cities, i was ok.

Hehe.. Hes computer is far superior compared to your "starter" machine :D So he should be fine.. :P
OH! Just noticed your running 32bit .. Then forget about the "more ram" post I made before :p

Thanks for the tips so far
One extra question, is a second screen essential, or is it possible to run from one?

I really should get 64bit to take full advantage of my ram!

im in the same boat as you my friend.. using just one comp.. like said above, it is posible to do 5 accounts but citys are about impossible.. since this discovery iv decided to go with just 3.
im also using duel screen set up like you asked about.. for some reason wow does not work with this.. even in windows mode.. i saw somthing that would fix the prob but i forgot where i found it at.. ill get back to you when i do

ALOT of people use 2 screens for dualboxing - On ONE machine.. So I don't know why you got problems 0o

Just managed to sweet talk myself a second screen (only 15inch) so will have a play this evening
I have also seen a few people running "ghost" images over their main screen. What addon does this?

Hmmm
Perhaps i got it wrong- it looks like smaller windows down one side of the screen. Due to the quality of the image i asumed they were slighty transparent
Is the user simply using 4 windowed wow's?

If you have Keyclone you can use it's Maximizer function to do this:
