View Full Version : Syncing Shaman and Mage (cast times)

Hi,
Great community here!
I am about to tackle Outland on my Elemental Shaman and Mage dual box combo.
I am wondering what talents will be best for the mage so that cast times for popular spells match up and can be chain cast.......ie Frostbolt and Lightning Bolt.
I was thinking just chain cast till dead or add instant damage with both toons if needed.
The shaman was leveled with a warrior but I am going to RAF a mage to 30 and gift him to 60 then hit Outland which is why im not sure what specs to use.
Any other tips for this combo would be appreciated.

Either castsequence if you wanna do multiple spells, or just mash one nukebutton.
Mainnukes for mage while levelling:
Fireball - 3.5-3.0 sec cast
Scorch - 1.5 sec cast
Frostbolt - 3.0 - 2.5 sec cast

Shaman:
Lightning Bolt - 2.5 - 2.0 sec cast
(on rotation and with CD)
Chain Lightning - 2.0 - 1.5 sec cast (6sec cooldown)
So, what you _could_ do, is using talented Frostbolt and non-talented Lightning Bolt, but that's just silly imo, you want Lightning mastery for other obvious choices as well.
Frost gives you more time before the mob reaches you, fire is more dmg output by itself. Arcane/fire and arcane/frost are builds that supplement eachother pretty well.
EDIT: Offtopic: wanna share some about your dual melee team? How you did it and all?

Thanks alot for that Griznah. Sounds like its going to be a tad annoying. I might just bind 2 different keys for my main nukes and use the talented versions.
As far as levelling went it was nothing fancy, kind of lame actually!
Initially I was using keyclone and had the Shaman specced resto and he was just throwing heals but stuff was taking ages to kill because I boosted my guys via instances so my Warrior only had the Sword of Omen and the 1h ace from SFK.
To level I did the following (all with RAF)
1 - 14 Quests.....Noob Zone, Senjin Village, The keep quests near Razor Hill, The goblin Quests near Org.......then onto Silverpine and did the quests there.
14 - 23 SFK including the Book quest, Arugals head and lost deathstalkers. (Boosted with non RAF 70 BE Paladin) Initally I went all the way through to arugal but after the arugal quest I pulled everything from the Ghost Soldiers just before Odo the Blindwatcher.
23 - 42 SM including the main quest. Library only for the quest (the casters all seem to reset), Arm in 2 pulls, 1st pull to the Stairs, 2nd pull to Herod, leaving my guys at the start. Cath 3 pulls, Bottom courtyard, Top courtyard, then moved my guys to the Cath door and attacked Mograin, then moved my guys into the Cath as if you are too far out you wont get loot from the bosses.
42 - 47 ish Tanaris Quests, all boosted with my Feral Druid, better single target DPS than my Prot Pally. I also did the ZF Quests, I tried boosting but it was a nightmare, even with staying out of Hex range. Just took too long.
47 - 55 Hinterlands Questing, just with my 2 toons, no 70. Hinterlands is awesome! I also did the Jin altor quests, it takes a while but you get a level just from the killing.
55 - 58 WPL Cauldron Quests, dying druid at 3 rd farm quests.
58 - 60 Winterspring quests Shy Rotam quest line, Are we there Yeti, both Furbolg kill quest.
Because my guys has bad weapons (nothing great on AH either) I specced Shaman Enchancement.
1 Computer
2 WoW running in window mode but full screen
No Keyclone
Used Multiboxer Mod to make Shaman follow after combat
Warrior charge in Blood Thirst
Switch to Sham window, get him into melle Stormstrike and a shock
Switch to warrior again till mob dead
Dropped Windfury only when multiple mobs aggro
Lame but simple, got into a nice rhythm when i was doing it.
