I am seeking advice on the shadow labs. On the second boss - blackheart the Inciter - I fail.
I reduced my +spell damage to about +400, but I stil get owned. The think the biggest problems are>
1. Pally holding aggro after he does his mind control on my team.
2. Pally running OOM
3. the knockbacks are doing major damage to the team so I need to chain heal lots and that burns the shammy mana and makes dps super low. (after he mind controlls the team, how do you regain position so you do not have knockback effects where everyone is Out of range or at 50% health due to the damage from knockbacks)?

The way I do it is pop my fire eles, heroism, trinket EM/CL. Blow everything right at the start.
I can usually get him to about 20% ish +- a little before he incites chaos. Then it's just a matter of taking the remaining shamans and tearing him up afterwards.
I wouldn't really worry about trying to tank him TBH. When I run SL, I use fire eles on the second boss and earth eles on the last boss. The timers are spaced out in such a way that you can farm the instance without breaks and have eles up for the bosses you need them on.
If you're talking about heroic though, I really don't know. I roll with four ele shams btw, no healer. I think that might be the difference between us, just getting him as low as possible without worrying about holding aggro or anything.

I do it with pala tanking, 3 ele and 1 restro (normal and heroic).
Some tips:
Get the sporregar shield with your pala. Having the poison dot on the boss will make him run straight to the pala after he resets aggro after the knockback.
Imo you really want one shaman to be restro. Earth shield is pretty much all thats needed to keep the pala alive. Also after a lot of failed attempts i finally resisted the urge to spam my 'self chain heal macro' on the ele shamans and started to only heal with the restro. The difference is huge. You'll have way less aggro and mana problemes on the eles that way, especially after the first aggro reset.
Other things:
You'll have to mana pot on the pally, but ideally you want to do that right after an aggro reset. Potting generates aggro :)
Fire elementals turn evil during the mc, When I popped 4 of these they blew up my crew pretty much instantly.
I burn all bloodlusts before the fight, and wait with the pull until about 20 seconds are left. That way no one is lusted during an mc phase.
I'm sure I forgot some things, but that's pretty much how I do it.

I did this yesterday with 4x Ele Shamans and 1x Holy priest at lvl 69. Popped 4x earth elementals and just nuked the crap out of him, went through 2 party mindcontrolls but i went out of the fight with about 80% HP and 20% mana on all chars.
