I want to 4 box (3 dps plus one healer or tank) but cant decide to go with mages or shammys for dps, and fill the last spot with someone from the guild for endgame instances (prob a tank, being healer and dps would be easier I imagine..) once they're 60 ill prob just boost a pally so I can either heal or tank.
Not fussed on pvp, it will be for PVE content hopefully heroics at some stage, I have a few 70s already and pvp grind just bores me. I'll prob just end up throwing them in arena 10 games a week to get some points anyway towards gear but that will be the extent of it.
What are the major benefits of shammys now the totem stacking is getting removed? only thing i can think of it maybe the hot totems but are they that helpful? benefits with mages i can see are 3x sheep and free food/water for the group, im sure they have decent dps but not sure how it compares to elemental shammys or how well it would work in instances, ive never levelled a mage or shaman so I can only assume :)

4x mages - what are you going to bring for your 5th spot? Tank: who's going to heal? Healer: who's going to tank?
Hybrids can't tank and heal at the same time (bears will have to shift to caster and palys can't dodge/parry/block while casting).
[edit] Might help if I read closely lol.
I'll leave this up for general info and to be laughed at. ;p

Definitely 4 mages. 4 shamans can't do heroics or even regular instances well because they lack armor and versitility. Mages can wear shields which give a really nice armor buff, which really helps let them take some hits. Generally shamans will run into trouble because they require some mobility and have spells which mess don't work well with multiboxing such as blink, blizzard, and even nova. Mage totems really help alot. Yet another problem with shamans is that they lack a revive. Mages can just self-rez with an anhk and rez others, but every time you die you'll have to do a gy run with shamans :(

I'm planning on 3 teams, maybe 4. My main account has 2 lvl 70 tanks, Very geared warrior and decent pally, so I won't include tanks while leveling.
So I've got so far - 5 shaman
3xMage - holy Preist
3xLock - SPreist interchangeable with the holy priest for endgame instances.
For the 4th team, I was thinking all hunters, 5x druids for a bear tank 3 moonkin and a tree, or some other combination I haven't thought of yet.
Since I had linking problems in setup, I'll be able to grant 2 instant lvl 60's for every 2 teams to get to 60 as well as topping off several alts I was working on on account #1. so for the first 2, I was thinking of Holy pally and Rogue. Then from there, insta leveling 2 other classes whose specs could be fun to play at 80, like 2 more warriors, so I could have one just fury, one just arms. I'll have tanks and healers on 2 accounts, dps on the other 3, with a few mixes and matches so I can change the groups to suit certain encounters.
I'll have a ton of solo classes to play, a ton of options at the login screen, and it seems as if RAF has finally given me a reason to never go outside again. The mages would actually seem to be the most instance friendly. High dps, reliable cc, and next to no maintanance with free water. But then again, shaman are getting hex, so even the mages niche of 3 sheeps is up for grabs.
