View Full Version : What are you doing instead of gearing your 70's?

With WotLK only a few months away, how many of you have stopped gearing your 70's team to opt for something else?

Looking at my gear plans, I realized it would take me a couple of months to acquire all the top items, leaving me with less than a month to enjoy the spoils, which just doesn't seem like a smart idea at this point.

So my question is, what else are you guys doing in the interim?
- farming dailies for the 5x gold?
- leveling up a secondary team?
- grinding/hoarding BG honor?

Leveling as many RAF teams and gifting as many levels as possible before it expires. Wait for patch 3.0.2 to then level the teams from 60-70 before xpac is released.

Unfortunately i started boxing just before they introduced the new RAF bonuses :/

But yah, I'm definitely going to level up a second team, maybe fill out the crafting professions while I'm at it.
I wonder if I should go with 4 BM hunters + priest just for kicks, especially with the new exotic pets in WotLK.
Blizz should really let hunters tame critters too. I want kill someone in BG with bunnies and penguins and giraffes and zevras.

I guess I should start making a to-do-before-wotlk list that doesn't have anything to do with gear.

Same, I stopped gearing my team of 70s (Warrior, Priest, 3 Mages). I now have two other teams that I built via RAF and character transfers. One team is alreay 61 and the other team will be 60 by Saturday. I'm actually enjoying doing these new teams.

Dailies and gold farm like a madman, made 6K the past 7 days. My goal is 50K+ bank account before expansion.

But I just got in to WotLK beta (woot!) so I don't know if I'll make it. :(

I'm still leveling my first serious team, while my singularly played 70's gather dust. I could gear my 70's, or use raf to level new toons. I chose raf, and will be playing a horde pvp server (hello magtheridon?) next after my raf crew hits 60 and I spend my raf points to level a rogue to 59.

I just got in Multibox, my shammies are level 36 atm, but with R-A-F bonus which makes me level very fast.
I also stopped raiding and farming with my 4 70s (got like 25k gold), so once I get 70 with shammies, I will level my other team while farming dailies and honor with the shammies.

RAF put a screeching halt to any gearing up I was doing.

Since I opened up my RAF accounts (28 days ago), I've dinged 976 times and have another 118 levels to gift from level 60+ toons.

Secret Beta Player's Tip: ALL THE GEAR IN NORTHREND SUCKS ASS AND IS 90% SPIRIT-HEAVY SHIT. Continue gearing up in BC, I guarantee you most likely will not be upgrading much till 76+ at the absolute earliest.

Maybe im the only one not interested in having a "second team" i know you can gift levels but to be honest why would you want to ? isnt one x5 team enough to paly with and the RL is much better ???

That being said my 2nd team of shammys ( iquit on pvp server) is 59 now. I will work them up to 70 over next couple weeks oro so and start on

1) nagrand mounts
2) drakes
3) trade skills to 375
4) gold....lots of gold

I just cant get my mind around leveling another team that i will NEVER play ? I might get a pally to 30 and gift him to 59 so i can have a tankadin in wolk as well as a rogue (for pvp) thats about it.

I'll probably end up playing them as much as I play my alts before I started multi-boxing, and they'll have crafting professions I'm not serious about, just for accessibility in case I need a few basic items.

Out of the 888 uncommon quest rewards in Northrend, 94 have spirit. (10.6%)
Compare to 100 out of 585 in Outlands. (17.1%)

Out of the 125 rare quest rewards in Northrend, ELEVEN have spirit. (8.8%)
Compare to 39 out of 255 in Outlands. (15.3%)

I'm pretty sure if WotLK gear sucks ass, the word would've gotten around by now.

On top of that it would make no sense for Blizzard to put in crap loot.
Does anyone still not understand that what Blizzard is really selling is a sense of progression?

To be honest focusing on gear this late in TBC is pointless. Who cares if it will be replaced at 72 or 76 it will be replaced, grinding for a shield in pvp I KNOW i am gonig to replace at 76 with the saronite shield is pointless. Why not just farm the gold for x5 shields that will last me WAY into lev 80 instead of Grinding AV's? this goes for just about every piece of gear in TBC.

1) Get trade/crafter skills up
2) Get mounts (drakes ???)
3) Get HEAPS gold.

Im just going to continue what i am doing, getting to 70, get flying mount and just have fun doing heroics etc.
I got a confirmation yesterday from my GM that i will be able to join Kara with my quad team, so there i have one thing to do :)
I might level another team using RAF, thinking of 4 warlocks but not sure.

leveling up a secondary team?
This one! Three times over!

Except for my pally tank, who I'm gearing up as a part-time job because you can never have an over-geared tank, even for expansion content. That and the fact that I'm looking towards making him my raiding main (from Warlock) in WotLK because I'm sure every other tank will go DK :)

I am grinding reputation myself.

I would love to get alot of factions to exalted, just for the kick!

Right now im doing the ones that wont be possible anymore or very difficult in WotLK.

- Sha'tar
- Lower City
- Cenarion Expedition
- Keepers of Time
- Thrallmar

Im also buying alot of runecloth now for the main factions, cause the price will go up after the exp I guess.

Besides the rep, im just doing dailies. I've seen a group mount on mmo-champ and I would love to get my hands on one of those in the exp!

-Jungle Love

Personally I am going to continue gearing out my team. I think the better geared you are going into Wotlk the easier it is going to be. My goal is to blow through some of the new instances that they throw at us. For everyone that plays on a pvp server this might be the easiest way to level. Remember when the ilse was released and the huge gank fest that came with that.

I am toying with the idea of a stam set of gear that will counteract some hard hitting trash.

.. or is it jsut me? :\Nah I watch plenty in between horde ganking and camping my boxing team.

Not at 70 yet so cant do dailies I will start a second team well technically it will be a 3rd team first only made it to 12 sooo.. Second to 61 and working up to 70 still got a while to go but now that I know what I am doing I can get my third team to 60 in like half the time it took team 2 to get there.

Except Stabface is counting total rewards; not 1 per quest since that's all you can choose nor taking into account class limitations(aka counting spiritless warr/rogue gear) and therefore changes your numbers. I also hereby change it to "cloth/leather caster gear" - most of which is int/spi or sta/spi and spelldmg, rarely hit, no crit, sometimes haste.

Also, @ Suv: Yeah, you're a priest, you live on spirit :P The regen change hasn't done diddly shit to me, I've had to drink LESS since going into Beta than I have on Live it regens so well in my existing gear.

@ Spirit-based talents/etc: Patently false; nothing has been "tweaked" to work with spirit; regen was just changed to be a constant count-up rather than a sudden jump every 3 seconds, nothing more. The "regen" changes were done months ago on live when spirit gain was revamped for everyone.

I have improved spirit buff for my team, spirit is nice ;)
Anyways, my mages and priests loves spirit by default.
