NO NO NO NO NO...

I already have a leveling guide in the works so I could have the following titles:

"Supreme Suvega, Supreme Ezey, Supreme Exey, Supreme Ewey, Supreme Luai"
"Prophet Suvega, Archmage Ezey, Archmage Exey, Archmage Ewey, Warbringer Luai"
"Suvega of Khaz Modan, Ezey of Gnomeregan, Exey of Gnomeregan, Ewey of Gnomeregan, Luai the Lion Hearted"

WAT TEH FUCK BLIZ

good change I did not want to stay up 24hours+ straight just for a shot at those titles. I guess that means I dont deserve them, but eh.

Good, I don't need some1 shoving an "Arch Druid" title in my face just because he lives in his mom's basement shouting for hot pockets whenever he gets hungry. :D

Good riddance IMO...we don't need that kind of "BURN THROUGH GAME AND GET BORED SOONER LOLZ" encouragement; the fun is in the journey, not the destination ;)

My favorite is the way the titles totally screwed everybody who lives on the west coast... lol... There's no way, even if we were MASTERFUL and played absolutely beyond all measure, that we could beat the thousands of people only slightly slower on the east coast who got a massive head start.

It's no wonder they took them out... Stupid midnight release time...

no offense, but I live on teh west coast, and 3 hours isn't THAT much of a headstart :P

its all about knowing people in retail and getting the game a day earlier than the rest~ That's what I did for Original and BC.

some made same pitch about the Rank 14 title back in the day.

Title is still in game but you can earn it any longer

Good riddance. It'd be stupid as hell, so what if you're first to 80, doesn't make you special, just makes you insane for playing 72 hours+ without stopping.

WHO CARES THEN. WHY REMOVE THE TITLE!?

Does it fucking matter? only like 1 title will be avail for the general public when wrath hits. If it doesn't affect you, why do you bitch about removing it?

It's ment for doing something extradorinary. Yuo think getting the Scarab lord was easy? It took an entire guild, and 4 * as long as it would take to get to 80.

Titles are like getting a medal. Honor. Distinction. Seeing someone with a title does affect everyone. Titles demand a little respect because they signify that toon going above and beyond everyone else in some sort of way.

Scarab Lord was a HUGE deal, because it was unique, VERY hard to get, did a unique questline that only you could do, and required a ton of help, it's the only unique title in game for a reason. Rank 14 titles were next to impossible to get even when they were in game. Other in game titles are still attainable for any toon, Champ of Naaru, Rivals etc.

You want a unique title that no one else can ever get for just leveling faster than everyone else? Leveling to 80 is something we all will do, and doing it faster isn't really worth a title and cheapens all other titles like the stupid "of the shattered sun lolihasgold" title kindof did.

A) Titles for first to 80 is interesting, only a very few will have them, and signifies your dedication to lvling fast to get to end content? Hell people want there 15 min of fame for lvling to 70 in 28 hrs, who cares.
B) The titles were fucking awesome. Suvega the Supreme? Come one, that sounds bad ass. Archmage Ewey? Sweet.

You would see the guy maybe once a month, it doesn't effect anyone, but people QQ like crzy... because what? Jealousy that they couldn't get it?

B) The titles were fucking awesome. Suvega the Supreme? Come one, that sounds bad ass. Archmage Ewey? Sweet. Another reason I'm glad they're nixing the idea. Saves those fucking awesome titles so it's possible to attain them in a different manner instead of just a gimmick lolimfirst race. Archmage or whatever could be implemented with a super long questline that required all parts of the game, pvp, pve, raiding, solo play, etc, so you need to master the class from all parts and perspective to truly be an Archmage.

The new title system is pretty lamesauce. Especially the "first to 80" titles. What ever happened to those people who hit 70 first? Oh yah, nobody gives a ****, lol. They should stop wasting time on silly systems like the title system and put that time towards something of value.

Having worked in a casino and seen people play until they passed out, I can say that this was a good decision. Free tip, when you go to a casino, check the seat before you sit down. Some folks don't stop playing their slots to do silly stuff like use a restroom.

Removing those titles was the responsible thing to do. Imagine how many diabetics, hypoglycemics and terribly skinny people would have passed out or worse. Imagine how many people would have called in sick to work too many times and lost their jobs... (I'm out of sick days, so I called in dead). Also, it would just be depressing for folks who can't get time off work for it. Level at a decent pace, enjoy the content. It's not every day we get 10 more levels of quests, mobs, crafting and excitement.

Actually more then 1 person could have the title of first of. The reason is that after someone achieves the title anyone else that achieves it 1 min (maybe 2 min) after the first person that person will have the title. So if you keep your guys with the same experience all 5 of your toons could get first to 80... that would be something. I funny thing was if a whole guild worked together the guild could be first to 80 lol... now that is epic.

WHO CARES THEN.That's how I see it. I know I would not get any of those "first to XXX" titles, so I don't care either way. As it is, even without an incentive like that, there are players who will be level 80 after a few days on just about every server. PvP servers should be pretty wild the first few days.

First to be called a noob
Lives in mother's basement
First to be call Get a Life

I think that all mb would get this titles quick lol

Speed leveling is more than just a "no life" thing to some people. Personally I'm not dedicated enough to do it -- but look at people like Joana (the guy with the leveling guide). He had speed leveling DOWN. Where some people enjoy raiding, or visiting content, or PvPing, he found the challenge of the game to find the most efficient paths to reach a goal.

Now, I can see where Blizz has to draw the line -- they don't want to "force" people to stay up, not eat/sleep or take care of themselves, or revert to account sharing -- but let's face it. The kinds of people who would stay up 24/7 to speedlevel to 80 are going to do it anyway -- title or not. People who don't want to, we won't. A title doesn't change that. People have been speed leveling long before now, and there's no existing title for it, so who's going to stop now?

I find it ironic -- we mock people who call us "no lifers" and "basement dwellers" and "losers", but we're so quick to mock someone else just because of the hobby they enjoy? Speed leveling is just as much a unique gameplay style as is Multiboxing.

I find it humerous how similar the arugments in this thread would be to general forums when an achivement like:

"Me Myself and I - Clear a 5 man instance with only characters played from the same computer"

harm done to the community? 0. Impact as the first to 80 achievements? SAME.

"Most low level alts created and deleted before level 10 - Across multiple servers and both factions" - Pointless, but I make toons when I'm bored.

Be the first to 80? huzzah, partay, grats, but you definitely don't deserve a title for it, the same way we don't deserve titles for the most lvl 70's on a server.

Like I said -- speed levelers are going to speed level regardless of a title.

All I'm saying is that the little part of me that spends time defending our alternate playstyle on the WoW forums dies a little when I see us doing the same thing to others.

And you know who does deserves a title?

3000 quests? exalted with home factions?

Your post comes off more then a bit conceited.

The simple fact is that both sides of this issue are going to have to realize that this is a subjective discussion and that neither side is "right". There is no clearly defined, quantifiable set of criteria that says x accomplishment is title worthy. Personally, I see Blizzard doing what almost all big companies do, and that's modify their product and services to prevent potential litigation.

Suvega--you're disappointed, and you have a right to be. You don't have the right to make other people feel bad for their opinions just because they don't align with your own. Their view, just like yours, is equally valid. Agree to disagree and move on.

I think we all can do a better job of recognizing that we all have different opinions and can disagree respectfully without demonizing one another. It's not gotten to that point yet, but my magic 8-ball says it's coming. ;)

It's not every day we get 10 more levels of quests, mobs, crafting and excitement. You know it's sad that people actually get that into something such as gambling or whatnot that they would actually crap their pants before they stop playing a game, or in some cases actually die playing video games or w/e. But in all honesty I just can't imagine how bad it would be for those same types of people should we ever get actual virtual reality computer games. Without something actually ejecting them out of the game from time to time I could see people totally dying in a complete virtual world losing all sense of reality, wouldn't even be suprised if they eventually became insane after subjecting themselves to so many hours of it convincing themselves that their virtual world was the real world.

Anyways going back onto topic, If they want to add in something like titles that would be a cool little addition in my book but I would rather see titles that everyone could potenially earn rather than simply the person with the most time on their hands. Let's face it all of us who have been playing the game since well before TBC have seen mediocore pvp players "earn" the rank 14 titles just due to the fact that they had 14 hours a day to spend playing a game. The truly best pvp players didn't always have the time to grind out that many battlegrounds.

Heh, this thread reminds me of the WoW South Park episode!

My $0.02 on this - I think Blizz is doing the right thing by removing the titles. It's one thing to allow speed levelling - it's another thing altogether to actually encourage it by placing an incentive for people to be the first to hit level 80. The hardcore speed levellers are going to do it anyway - no argument there. Its the casual gamers who will get sucked into it (mostly to the detriment of thier lives outside WoW) that are the ones at risk here...

Cheers,
S.

i'd love to see achievements like "past 100days played" or "killed 1 milion mobs", or "spent 20days afk in game" or even "character's 1/2/3/4/5 year anniversary", "Hearthed 1000 times", "bought 1milion food/drinks" - obviously all those should be cumulated since wow started, not just wotlk
stupid things really, that don't mean much, but that accumulate.
or some achievements like "did 15K dmg in 2 seconds or less" "Healed 20k in 2 seconds or less" "Dodged/parried/blocked 15 attacks in a row, for a mob wielding experience", "critted 10 times in a row"
The list is pretty much infinite, and they can add new achievements in every patch now.
