View Full Version : How is your maximizer set up? (widescreen monitor)

Ideally, I'd like to have some kind of decent resolution on my 22" widescreen monitor that will let me have two instances of wow running right next to each other. On the left would be a paladin I plan to tank with and on the right would be my priest I plan to heal with (mostly using clique). The rest of my team (3 warlocks) would be running on a second machine.
The problem I'm running into is figuring out how to use maximizer to get my two instances of wow running without looking "weird'.
Anyone have any tips or can you share with me how you run your wow? I've thought about running PIP, and I'd be willing to play with that if I could accomplish it without, again, it looking "weird". For PIP I can essentially get one screen at 1024x768, but the remaining space on the screen isn't wide enough to really do much with.
My monitor can handle up to 1440x1050 (I think that's the resolution). Any tips on how to use this space most effectively?

What i did when i was running just 2 instances is go into your video options and rotate your display 45 degrees, then your monitor is meant to be unscrewed from the stand, spun around and rescrewed so its up and down rather than side to side. then on the maximizer just divide your current resolution in half and put both instances at the same resolution but one on the top half the screen and one on the bottom half
i did this with my 19" but instead of it being 1440X 900 it was 900 x 1440 both wow clients were at 450x720(in keyclones maximizer) the ingame resolution was still 800x600 hope this helps

I two box at the moment on a 24" 1900x1200 and I run PiP. Main is full 1900x1200 (full video settings), and the clone account in a small 500/375 (or 600/450?) window with a 800x600 game rez (all video settings turned down) in the very bottom right corner and I find it works quite well. Once they catch up to my level 70 on another account I plan to purchase a 19-20" widescreen monitor and have the 2 clones on the 2nd monitor in portrait mode for tri-boxing.
Mine is similar to http://solidice.com/keyclone/layouts/kc_1600x1200X1_2regions_pip.jpg but with the clone window moved all the way to the bottom corner (and a different UI layout).

I could technically then have grid/clique set up pretty big on the priest and be able to click on it without actually switching to it.
mine for two boxing at 1680x1050 was like this

You can also turn your widescreen 90 degrees clockwise and have them top/bottom with about 1024x768 for each window.
Edit: Oops, just now noticed you said 1440x900, so that's more like 800x600 stretched to fit, which shouldn't be too bad at all.

Is the small window now hidden? That is the issue I am having with PIP. Any ideas?

I admit to being a little cautious about spending the $20 at first, but now I regret waiting so long to do so.

If you can (and don't mind) could you provide a list of addons you are using for that UI. Specifically the bottom part of the screen; like how to get the map square, and Omen and Recount (I am guessing?) to all look like that. Unit Frames looks like Pitbull... ?
Thanks!

I've got PiP set up:
region 1 is maximized at 1280x800
region 2 is tiny, always on top, 320x200
It looks great until I click on region2, then the taskbar appears from behind everything. If I click on region1 the taskbar disappears.
I'm running Vista, any idea how to make this behavior disappear? Other than the taskbar it seems great.

New to 3 boxing -simple question ('http://www.dual-boxing.com/forums/index.php?page=Thread&postID=42533#post42533')The problem I was having was that the entire taskbar was on top of the window. No flashing of any kind. I found the solution to be going into the taskbar settings and unchecking the option "Keep the taskbar on top of other windows" seemed to be a good enough workaround.
I looked at the article you suggested but even tinkering with the registry keys suggested had no effect on what I was experiencing. Just figured I'd pass along a potential workaround to anyone else that sees this in vista in the future.
