Just wondering what peoples plans are for Blizzcon and if there had been any movement on a mb get-together>

Have just finished booking everything, gf and I will be staying at the Best Western just at the convention center for about 10 days (taking a bus over to vegas for one night in the middle) so just wondering if anyone else had booked for there or woudl be close by and want to organize something one night. Also, if any anaheim residents have suggestions for places to go at night for dinner, etc that would be great since at the moment we only have the typical tourist attractions planed.

[EDIT]
Hey again guys, just wondering if we can get finalised numbers for this since I thought there were more people going to Blizzcon than we have so far.

Confirmed:

Knytestorme + gf
Vyndree [#]
Suvega [#]
Glo + gf
Otana
Zseth + f [#]
Crayonbox + f
Souca
Defactoman
Aboron [#]
Kura
Offive + w
Kadaan [#]
Roundbasket (+gf?) [#]
Hardcoded + gf

Possible:
Drakkun [#]

[#] = Vyndree has your phone #. MWAHAHAHAHA!!

Seems that thursday night is the consensus, and anaheim walk has the best choice of restaurants so let's take that as a basis and try to come to a consensus on which one there we want to head to....the other thing I noticed there is a bowling alley which seems to have a bar and could be a good relaxed atmosphere for after dinner to kick back and have some fun.

Once we have a final confirmation on people it might be best for us to take this to a pm list for passing mobiles around, etc. People not from the US need to remember to get roaming turned on too if they want their mobiles to work over there.

I too will be staying at the Best Western in Anaheim, but unfortuanatly I missed out on Blizzcon Tickets :(

Its a long trip from australia just to stand at the door and maybe look inside (damn that blizzard ticket website!), so I'm going to Disneyland instead.
I too would like that info on good places to visit while im visiting, and im keen to meet up with any other multiboxer's in the area.

Suvega and I will be staying at the Anaheim Mariott from Thursday aft (10/9) to Tuesday aft (10/14).

We should definitely have a multiboxer get-together.

Doubt you'd be interested Skuggo, we're all over 12 :p

Anyway, was thinking that maybe the thursday night would be a good time to do a get-together since everyone should be in town by then, we'll all be amped up and excited and there seems to be some good places to eat/party around the convention centre area or in the open section of Disneyland.

Every time I think about not being able to go to Blizcon .. I get a bit uptight. I wasted two days and hundreds of dollars ( not working) And never got "lucky" enough to get tickets. I would buy one from a scalper in a minute if it wasn't so easy to get scammed. Have fun though you guys!

Ok, been thinking about this and doing some web-browsing.....seems there is a nice little area close by with a few places like a grill, asian food etc or the downtown disneyland area which has food area and things like House of Blues for drinking/dancing/kicking back.

I'm suggesting getting together from about 6ish on thursday night for dinner somewhere and then hanging out, chatting, hitting up a club, etc as a Blizcon pre-event, so if interested post here or send a pm with preference for style of food and let's see if we can get some sort of consensus as I def think it would be fun night given the locations people could be coming from.

I also like the thursday night idea, we just need a place to meet.

The idea's posted by the other members sound fun, but probly some place like a pub or alfresco dinning area would be best.

We need to make a Dual-boxing Blizzcon Phone Tree. :P

We have 3 questions:
When?
Where?
Who?

When?
-- Will everyone be there on Thursday evening? I think the pre-pickup ticket lines are Wednesday/Thursday so we should target after the pickup lines are closed.
Where?
-- Does anyone have food allergies? Vegan/Vegetarian/Kosher? Let's try and find a place everyone can enjoy. Please let me know if you need transportation or can provide transportation.
Who?
-- Once the first two are satisfied, people can feel free to PM me if they will/maybe attend and (if you feel comfortable) any contact information in case plans update/change.

I'm thinking of maybe bringing some swag for you guys as well. I'm not sure what kinds yet, but I'm sure I can put together a Dual-boxing.com goody bag. PM me t-shirt sizes (specify men's/women's) and I'll see what I can put together. Let me know if you have any ideas as well ;)

It's always the pretty ones that get the most responses :D

I was thinking the thursday would be the best as well after everyone picked up heir goddy bags. For food I was thinking we could either hit up the anaheim walk, since it has a whole heap of restaurants there and we could pretty much guarantee finding somewhere we all agreed on, or downtown disney since it has food and places like House of Blues for us to kick on at if people wanted to party on.

Well be getting in on the saturday and staying at the Stovll's Inn on the corner of the convention center and disneyland....gf isn't a fan of seafood but anything else is an option for us.

T-shirt sizes would be largest available, though would kill for Larry Osterman or Tom Miller sig....yes, I am a fanboy :p

Woohoo, someone knows the area. ;)

Is there a good place nearby with decent enough parking areas (by decent enough -- keep in mind I've had to deal with Seattle's "lovely" parking availbility so I don't have high expectations heh) and somewhere noticable enough to us tourists to locate? We kinda need a meeting spot -- particularly since we don't exactly know what we all look like.

Not sure when the pick up lines close on Thursday. Debating if I should go there early on Thursday, or after I finish my work on Thursday which means I will arrive maybe 7-8pm on Thursday. I'm as blind about things as anyone else (rpobably more so given you guys at least live in the country :p) but I have been checking things out on maps.live.com (love the birds eye view, so much better than google maps) so you could likely find parking spots around the area there....or even just park in the disneyland parking lot. Other than that, if we're all around the convention center it would probably be easier to just leave cars at hotels and walk or catch buses.

Parking in disney is something stupid like 30 dollars for a sedan and even more if youre bringing a trailer of some sort.

I am going to vote for the walk. Plenty of decent places there that are fairly priced depending on people's budgets.

Also anyone coming that is going to be underaged? There are a few decent bars in the area as well if memory serves me right. Been quite a while since I've been to the area even though I live 45 minutes from there >_>

Also http://www.yelp.com/search?find_desc=&rpp=10&find_loc=disneyland%2C+CA&cflt=restaurants as a reference link if anyone cares enough to look around at whats available in the area.

I live 7 miles from the center and basically drive through the area every day coming home from work. That being said, I just moved to the area and don't actually know what's good or bad there. However, I am willing to re-route my drive home from work to scout a spot for parking and accessibility if anyone has any specific places to check out.

I get mixed reports from others on the Downtown Disney thing and I have been there once. It's got a bunch off major chain restaurants in there (house of blues, espn zone, rainforest cafe). The first 3 hours of parking are free, and you can get validated for another 2 hours at any of the sit down restaurants. After that it's $6/hr. It is sometimes crammed full of tourists, but Thursday night may not be so bad. I met an out of town friend there once and it seemed a little busy, and I parked at his hotel and walked over.

One of the guys at work here also mentioned the Anaheim walk area, but wasn't pushing it and he had to go before i could get any details about parking. I haven't been there myself, but it looks to be even easier to locate, being straight up the road from the convention center. ( as opposed to the complexities of making a single left turn to get to downtown disney ;) )

I just wish the whole ticket debacle had gone better, then I'd actually be going _in_ to blizzcon myself.

I think most of us who are attending Blizzcon will probably be within walking distance of the walk. The poll for transportation is more for people who are further away and/or if we were going somewhere farther away. ;)

Walking distance is also good if anyone's planning on drinking -- that way there won't be fights over who has to be the DD. ;)

So, for shits and giggles, I decided to see how much planning a Blizzcon trip at the last minute with the economy in the dumps would cost. Grand Total over $1500 without the food and gear purchased at Blizzcon, luckily I planned ahead and bought airplane tickets, made hotel and rental car reservations well ahead of time.

Welll... I'm getting mixed results on tshirts (and not all of you have given me sizes yet). There are most definitely going to be goodies for those showing up for the get-together, but I'm working on getting something a bit less size-dependent (and particularly since those tshirts take some time to print).

Do we have a meetingplace in mind Knyte? I suppose we could all just meet near the convention center -- it'll probably be a landark everyone should know. ;)

2 days till we fly out and now I can't sleep at 3:30am :/

I'm thinking meeting will depend on when people go to grab their badges and the length of the line, but if we can at least make a decision on where to eat before hand it will make things a little easier. My vote would be for Califonia Pizza Kitchen since they seem to have a wide enough range to suit all tastes and preferences and if we say something like 7:30 to meet there it would allow people that are held up in line enough time to still get sorted (hopefully) but if people want to get there earlier it would be cool too.

Or even have a plan like start at 5ish with food starting to be ordered at 7ish...something like that or taking your suggestion in mind we could all meet up at the convention center and get in line at the same time so we can all get badges/bags and then head straight to dinner. It would give us at least the same amount of chat time as meeting early at the restaurant but with less alcohol involved :)

I'm hoping to have wifi access while over there so hopefully I'll be able to stay up with this thread, but if not do you mind if I pm you my mobile number Vyn so I can be kept up to speed?

Sorry, did not see this thread till today.

I will be arriving on Thursday afternoon from my real vacation, wife is flying in at 5pm. Was planning on pickup up badges Thursday evening. I hear the line is gone towards the end of the day, but who knows! Maybe the Oops the Murlock will be present (didn't order one of those shirts, ah well)

I will have my own ride. I am a few miles away at a different Hilton.

It would be fun to meet some other multi boxers, so count us in on the plans for the evening. Also I don't see a panel discussion about multi-boxing, so I guess I will have to hang out with all the solo-boxers in the normal events.

I will PM Vyn with contact info.

BTW I am always a designated driver, that is if y'all can handle your booze and then walk to your hotel!

My wife and I will be going to Blizzcon, don't think we will be attending the dinner Thurs night, but I'll probably see you all around at the con. Shouldn't be hard to seperate you all from the rest of the crowd, I'll just look for the one guy(or girl) w/ 4 tag-alongs :-)

We need everyone to bring a cardboard box and we'll just walk around in a big swarm wearing our boxes. Should be fun for a few minutes, maybe one lap around the convention floor.

Actually I think that would be the most amusing thing on the convention floor. All the Multiboxers, walking around wearing boxes, but having like 2 more boxes taped to either side. People would be like, whats up with all the boxes. I have a feeling the convo would go something like this:

"WTF is that?"

"I don't know, just a bunch of boxes, they all look the same though."

"Is that like a guild or something, like the Box guild?"

"Wait, what do the boxes say, 'Solo is the New Gimp'?"

"Fuck, I get it, they are the Cardboard Box guild."

*random blizzard employee with half a brain cell* "Dude, they are multiboxers, don't you get it, boxes, multiple boxes, multiboxer, I hate my job."

"OOOO, Fuck them hackers."

I'll be there with my wife. I'm not sure if we'll be down in time for the get together since we're driving down from San Jose after she gets off work mid-afternoon, but we'll see. She may want to go to Disneyland instead, so I may have to miss Thursday anyway ;-/.

I am still up for thursday and my gf sounds pretty committed after I mentioned that some of the multiboxer's are cute... is that manipulative? Of course I am never sure if thats because she is keeping tabs on me or likes to talk to pretty girls...<confused>...either way, dinner sounds great. :) She has a 45 hunter, but has no leveling addiction and seems to enjoy most the different outfites she finds. She graduated from Berkley, it blows the mind.

Just to comment on whats gone before - haven't been to the walk but Cheesecake has everykind of food you can imagine. If you are from other countries you should be warned the amount of food served is quite large. Along with the food they have a bar. They don't normally take reservations, but for a large group they might. Unless we have someone with celiacs in which case we should look at PFChangs since they actually have a glutin free menu. Downtown Disney is great, my favorite is House of Blues but you need to be sure that there isn't a big name band that night or its hard to get seating. Parking at Disneyland is not $30 for a car. Its about $10, but Downtown Disney parking is easy and large. I don't know the parking at the walk. Both are very close to all the hotels around the convention center.

I live on the sand down in Newport Beach, so if any of you are thinking to visit the beach before or after let me know. If you are in town Sunday its worth stopping by the Balboa pier if you are an Arrested Development fan so you see where different scenes were shot near the fun zone. The weather today is perfect beach weather, and there are good waves at the moment. I don't surf, but there are so many surfers out in the water in front of my place its silly (apparently one of the better breaks around here).

Any group over 8 is going to have gratuity included most places, but remember to bring extra for the tax and tip since everyone always seems to underpay on group checks. :)

Looking forward to seeing you all, and listening to those of you are good at this multiboxing thing. I have RAF'd two teams to 60 (shamans and druids) and am working on two more before my time runs out so I can figure out what I like in the expansion. But I don't really know anything since my 70 paladin just holds threat so far.

See you Thursday. have you picked a time? Is Cheesecake the official meeting place?

I'll be leaving work around 6:15, google maps quotes 20m (up to 30m in traffic) so hopefully I'll be there a little early. Parking at the Garden Walk is supposed to be pretty good, and the restaurant can validate your parking ticket.

And mine says "about 13 mins (up to 20 mins in traffic)" but i know that's pretty optomistic. Route 5 from Irvine up past harbor is a total gauntlet that I try to find new and creative ways to avoid every day. :)

I put in my work and home addresses and it gives "20.5 mi – about 26 mins (up to 40 mins in traffic)" - but if i were actually willing to drive the route it suggests it would take over an hour.

California pizza kitchen is tiny. There isn't any way to fit 20 people at one table that I can see. We scoped out all the restaurants at garden walk and the only ones that seemed to even want to accommodate a party that size is mccormicks or cheesecake factory both of which have room for a walk in right now(6:30).

If anybody is heading over that way now look for the guy in red shirt and girlfriend sitting at the bar of McCormicks. Vyndree has my number if I don't hear from anyone we'll head over to California Pizza at 7.

The bill was surprisingly light, considering how many people showed up! Big thanks to Suvega for going around making sure everyone paid :)

Haha, just remembered sitting at the Diablo 3 discussion throwing paper balls at you to get your attention and you never looked our way. I got distracted about the same time your friends sat down and forgot all about asking you guys to sit with us :)

I wanted to try and get together with everyone Saturday night for a last hurrah before we left but ended up getting into a riveting game of Warcraft minis with Rachael and it was late before I got around to going out. Hope everyone had a fun trip home! Till next time.

Glo, we were at the Hilton Bar, but we probably left before you because I pansied out cuz I had to drive to the airport in 3 and a half hours. lol?

We got to talk with the development team as well, do include the lead level designer for TBC and Wrath. Suv was excited, and slightly drunk, and made sure to mention he was half the team of the two man team who did Karazhan first in blues (which is still the only real achievement of it). The guy was pretty chill except he was sober as he was the DD lol.
