X-key Pro

Was just wondering is this really worth the money. 170$ is a lot of money for it and want to make sure its worth it.

I have a N52 and its ok but i was looking at the set up for xkeys and having the pics on there seems nice and the ability to have more keys then the N52. atm the N52 is set up 1 through = and the directional pad is

^ = alt
v = tab
< = shift
> = control

and i use the orange button on it for my pally's judgement

I bought one..........and sold it. Just couldn't get used to it.

Do you use a gamepad now? N52? Claw? Something like that?
Fur makes a good point, the value kind of depends on how you are playing now.

I used to use an N52 x 3 and also a Thrustmaster Tacticalboard (anyone else remember that fine piece of equipment?). I switched to the X-keys Pro and have been loving it. It does take a while to set up, though, and due to the lag/keydrops with USB keycasting with my setup, I typically don't use all of the functions that the device is capable of (true multi-key macros) and use it to trigger in-game hotkeys exclusively.

Tell ya what, go buy one (X-keys pro USB) and if you hate it, I'll buy it from you ;) at a discount!

lol If I buy one its ganna be a PS/2 because its less stress on the CPU since there is no software to run ... its all firmware

FYI the new USB models are dual mode, software or firmware.

I use firmware on mine with a keycaster. Unfortunately, the firmware programmer is a beta program, so there are a few glitches to contend with, but for the most part it does its job well.

I just started using the PS/2 version. I love it. Obviously, this is a hard thing to answer for yourself.

I've had mine about 3ish weeks now and I love it.

I use a N52 in my left hand to control my main. I use the x-keys in the middle to control all the alts. Mouse in my right hand. All three are on a keyboard shelf and my keyboard sits on top of the desk, which I rarely use.

I've only managed to use about 1/4 the keys on the pro, although I think of new things to hotkey all the time.

I just picked up the USB version myself. From the documentation on the USB version you can load the keymap onto the device itself but are limited to a total of 1000 characters. I use the software that comes along with it which is limited to your computer specs and not internal memory on the board. One thing to mention the software used to load the keymap onto the X-key is called Macro Recorder and is not supported by Vista. Of course the MacroKeys software used along with the X-key that does the software mapping to your computer is Vista compatible. I am sure I confused that all to heck.

I wish there was an overlay for the keys that allowed me to easily change all the labels at once, I do a fair amount of multimedia work and using this along with AHK would just be great for many applications.

One problem I have run into is the USB version has been causing my explorer.exe to crash. I am not sure why even without the software loaded it will cause explorer.exe to crash after about 30 minutes. Odd considering it maps as a HID USB device.

I just got my Pro-PS/2 version a few weeks ago and have been loving it ever since. I was using a Nostromo (original) for years but a few of the keys were starting to fail so I decided to fork-out the $170 and couldn't be happier.

PS2 Pro version of the x-keys here & I love it.

The main thing i have mine for is by name heals for faster PVP,

if my main needs a heal, I hit 1 buton,
Alt one, the next button down & so on.

This makes healing much easier with regards to the lag involved with other options like /focus & /assist.

I do the samething, but I have them bound to f1-f5, but I have a usb xkeys aswell.

I bought one..........and sold it. Just couldn't get used to it.

..but perhaps it is because i don't realy PVP and are not 70 jet, so there is often no need for complex keybinding.
(And thats from a guy who plays 5 difrent classes ;) )

hehe this reminded me that I have an old x-keys Desktop ps2 that I used when I boxed EQ. Found it yesterday and plan to use it for macros and use my n52 for spells and attacks that I use often.
