I understand that you're really excited because you just saw someone run through town that was multiboxing, you googled Multiboxing and this website was the first result. I understand that your first thought is to Make an account, click New Thread and type something in all caps along the lines of "HEY GUIZ I JUS GOT 2 DIS WEBSITE HOW I MULIBOX I HAVE A 10 YERE OLD DELL IS DAT ENUF 2 BOX PLZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ ZZZZZZZZZZ POST BAK                                    :cursing: :cursing: :cursing: :cursing: :cursing: :cursing: :cursing: :cursing: :cursing: :cursing: :cursing: :cursing: :cursing: :cursing: :cursing: :cursing: :cursing: :cursing: :cursing: :cursing: :cursing: :cursing: :cursing: :cursing: :cursing: :cursing: :cursing: :cursing: :cursing: :cursing: :cursing: :cursing: :cursing: :cursing: :cursing: ;( ;( :D :D :D ;( ;( ;( ;(  :cursing: :cursing:               "

Read all of the Wikis, Use the Search Button, There is MORE than enough information for you to get started.

Edit: It seems that we have to do this to get people to search / use the wiki. Having a sticky apparently doesnt do as much as it should. You have to catch all of the people with ADD with big flashy signs, whole sentences in caps lock and smily faces. /sigh

Just a hint: You don't need to bump a thread until it's actually fallen OFF the first page.

And a preemptive warning: Be sure to review our policy on excessive 'bump'ing ('http://www.dual-boxing.com/forums/index.php?page=Thread&postID=14540').

Please wait a reasonable amount of time before bumping posts, we understand due to popularity of the forum this needs to be done, we recommend a min of 6 hours before bumping support threats and 12 hours for everything else.

Thanks in advance!

It's a noble effort, but can you tell me why you think the people that don't read anything before posting will read this?

Savage
09-01-2008, 07:28 PM
Big letters that stand out from the other posts. My neighbor would always come back to just hang out and he would bring his PC. I would see him browsing a forum that I showed him, and he would ALWAYS just click Create New Thread right away without looking himself first. I would always scream at him because you're supposed to LOOK YOURSELF first. That just seems like the younger generation's mentality to me, I dont know. Anyways, lets say some random person who just decides to come to the forum because he thinks its just rad. Lets say he's one of the previously mentioned people. If he's not going to read the sticky, this might get his attention. Not always, probably, but lets face it, some new people aren't reading the stickies anyway.

I think we should permanently add the arrows and circles to the actual forum page design. Just my opinion.

Yeah, that would eliminate any confusion - XD. But seriously, there should be some different way to get people to READ before they post. Trusting that they are going to do it themselves is obviously not enough as there are like 5+ "HOW I USE KEYCLONE" posts per day.

before I waste MY!!! precious time by reading stickies and wickies can someone answer me the following questions

(sorry i'm a noob)

1. What is multiboxing?

2. What addon do i need to do it?

3. I've heard of something called keyclone, everyone says it's great but can I get a free version

4. Can anyone let me know why I would want to multibox? I just don't see the point, I mean If i want to have 4 other characters then I can just join a pug and they will all move by themselves without me having to do anything

5. How do i loot mobs, is there some way I can press a key and have all the loot picked up automatically

:D

You forgot to ask about quest turn-ins, why your drones run off in different directions, why your Keyclone licence expired when you installed a new OS and whether it's best to quest or instance!

Sorry but this post is just plain rude, all caps in thread titles is like standing in the corner of a room at a party and shouting your opinion across the room, it devalues your opinion a lot and makes you look like a boor*.

I hate to bump this thread but there's also the matter of 'noobs', no matter what you do there will always be people on forums who ask a question first and search later - asking questions is what people do, it's human nature, to complain about it is pointless and ill-mannered. If you don't like people who ask questions you should simply not help them as opposed to being rude to them.

p.s. Boor is not a misspelling: http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/boor

cough.. cough... just have the websites roots redirect go to the wiki and not the forums :whistling: That will slap out majority of the people coming to spam the forums.. Force them to think the wiki is the site.. then down at the bottom of the wiki have a link to the forums...

By the way I'm back from my hiatus..! Still a few money troubles but everything is going good enough to where I can get back on 3/5 accounts..

As for redirecting to the wiki. I imagine a lot of the people will still see the wiki, go 'ewww reading' then jump straight to the forums with a "help me multibox" We've done all we can just gotta keep fighting the good fight. There are more and more 'I got it all working by reading the wiki' posts anyways :D

Savage makes a good point.

Read it all, if you really want to multibox you have to do the research its not an instant thing you have to find out what your options are and how you go about doing it, I realize that its a lot of material to read but if you want to do it effectively read it! Use the Wiki its your friend! And stickies there great. All this will point you in the right direction. If you get everything together and are having issues then that's when you start asking the questions. Not that folks want to discourage you but multiboxing is not for everyone.

Enjoy your multiboxing experiance I have.

With the amount of totally inane "HELP" "OMG" posts, I just lost the will to help anybody this morning so it's time to bump the eye-catching topic for whatever it's worth...

On balance, I think I prefered multiboxing when it was niche rather than mainstream ;)

Ay. Although I did start right before RAF was introduced, I'd hate to think of myself as one of the many in the past weeks who came here only after googling Multiboxing because they saw the phrase on the WoW General Forum.

My neighbor just did that - He complained endlessly to me about always facing this 5x Shaman team in AV, so what does he do? Tries to do it himself. Pathetically, though, running 5 x WoWs doesn't work very well on a crappy laptop. Apparently it's the other person's fault because this hobby of ours takes more time and money (gasp) than just playing a single character. He actually got mad at ME because he didn't know that you needed multiple accounts. I wanted to smack him so freaking hard. If you see me post with anger, thats most likely where its coming from; dont take it personal.

There is indeed pretty much everything one needs to get started on multiboxing all over these forums, I for one only recently gave it a try after a friend told me about the RAF offer, and clearly I've found all the needed support off the various topics on these boards.

Heck, if I can write a Getting Started guide and make a video, all without asking for help in the forums, so can you. http://www.dual-boxing.com/wiki/index.php/Syro's_Multi-Boxing_Part_1:_Getting_Started

I know most people want things handed to them, or their ADD kicks in every 15 seconds and their attention span finds something shiny, multiboxing isn't something you just download and use. It takes patience, lot of reading, and lot of testing. It's a mental challenge, a challenge that for some people is worth it. Especially for people that have played the game for years and need a breath of fresh air.

Everyone blames these people for coming in here and making these posts. Maybe we should look at it a different way. We all make it look too easy to do. Therefore I propose the following solution: when multiboxing in a capitol city, you must take your toons off follow and pass your movement keys so they dont all quite do the same thing. This will cut down on the number of these people that think "hey, that looks easy. I can do that!" and then come here and make these posts.

Its not their fault that all the info is on this site in really easy to find places, its our fault that we make it look easy! :D

Yes, I am being sarcastic.

BTW, I have finally returned to WoW and this time as a DualBoxer running 2xMages.

Maybe if I had multi-boxed it in the first place I would have been playing for three or four years now.
