HI all, just wondering if anyone else is feeling this way.
I hit 70 with the boyz about 2 weeks ago. I now have began the grind for the totems of the void. (21 runs 3 voids) i have started to farm av for honour etc but i just cannot bring my self to farm wsg, ab and eots, I find these bg's is where i get the most hate :(
I have 30 other 70's that have been geared out and i cannot seem to face what seems to be the endless grind to gear up my boyz.
With LK coming out in the near future, War just around the corner (aussie servers ftw!!!!!!) i am having troubles keeping myself focused on my goals. i try to keep my goals small and achievable, ie: two mech runs a nite, then dailies, then av with my friends.
I guess the point is, how do you keep yourself going? i love playing my shamans but lately its becoming a chore....i know i know i could stop playing :pinch: but like many i need that wow fix.....
To be honest I stop playing for about a week, but my partner plays and her computer is in eye line of the telly….watching her play just feeds the wow monster in me.
even with RAF i cannot fathom another team. Perhaps its time to hang up the mouse for good ;(
there's more than TV or WOW.
Go for a walk ;)

you know what, perhaps your right, sometimes we get involved in something and loose focus of the bigger picture....maybe time to stand back a little....

You have 30 other 70's? Heh, no wonder your sick of the grind! :P
Totem of the void runs are pretty mind numbing...I only have 2 from 20 runs or so as well. Good thing about shams - you can go run some heroics, or PvP...whatever you want!! Drop one of the mech runs for something that you like doing...you'll still end up with your totems in the end...
Cheers,
S.

Just wanted to add my two cents hehe. I completed my totem of the void grind in about maybe ahhh..15 runs or something of that nature. It went by fast.
Now im grinding the honor for my epics. Boy oh boy can that get boring. I feel ya pain. Also on the non AV battle gounds i Usally go solo to avoid the hassle of ohter players.
That amounts to more playing and less efficiency...i know. Iv hit seventy about three weeks or so ago and have the weapon and shield on my five guys. Im going to start doing the dalies and heroic trys again. Those two items alone increased my armor and spell damage immensly. So try to stick at it and also give yourself a break. I almost quit a few times since hitting seventy but said to myself damn it took a long time to get here. Im not about to throw it all away. Good luck to ya! Braggon

Not meaning to hijack this thread but I think the discussion is headed in a very good direction. I see that many folks gear up their toons via BG's. Why not farm regular instance runs for drops? Great way to build faction on top of decent gear. Sure it is not as good as most honor items but with the right mix should be good enough for heroics. I have not even begun to do the research on my shamans regarding high level gear so perhaps I am misguided.
I want to avoid the 70 blues (no pun intended). Every 70 I have leveled had that point of "God why am I doing this" I would hate to think how bad it gets times 5 :)

To be honest with WOLK around the corner. I am not going to waste my time on gear leveling. Once i hit 70 im going to get the items that stay with me and not reset in wolk.
1) Nagrand mount
2) drakes
3) gold we all need gold right?
4) Get my crafting professions up to 375 ( JC / alchy / enchanting / Leatherworking )
Farming for days upon days for gear that will be rest at 71 when wolk opens, to me is pointless.

Me too.
I know what the original poster means about focus and motivation though. I have 70+ days left on my RaF bonus, which I fully intended to use to level lots and lots of esoteric teams, but having gotten my first new team to 60 I really can't be bothered to level another set just yet.
I fired WoW up for a total of about two hours over the weekend, and even that was a chore.
It's part of the normal cycle of things though, and it's quite healthy. You'll find something to get you motivated again soon. Or not. Either way is good :)
For me, playing WoW is slightly less important than watching the television - it's a way to fill the time when I have absolutely nothing else to do. If you can find something else to fill your WoW time with, so much the better!
Too many people take Wow as work, when they should try and have fun ;)

This man speaks the truth!
Step back, take a break and Be firm with sticking to that Goal, get out away from the Telly and the PC.
Had a blast tonight, got my final 2 shammies to 375 LW and made their Hurricane Boots...healed Gorefiend fight on my priest then half of Kara then as people had to leave for the night we had too many healers and I got to bring 3 of my shammies to Kara for Illhoof, Shade, Netherspite, Chess & Prince. I had a total blast and multibox raiding has got to be my favorite thing I've done so far now with multiboxing. Yeah Kara isn't new and I've done it so many times on my lock and priest but to do it on the shammies was a new and exciting aspect to it.

I want to avoid the 70 blues (no pun intended). Every 70 I have leveled had that point of "God why am I doing this" I would hate to think how bad it gets times 5 :)I personally started out with leveling my 4 shamans with the intention of using them in WotLK from the start (as in being able to progress in the normal curve).
However i ended up being 70 a week ago. It gave me 2 choices. Gear them up fully, or just leave them till WotLK and then progress normally learning instances, getting gear. (i got 4 other level 70 toons). I opted to take somewhat of a middleground. I do a bit of AV, i do some normal instances, i do a few daily's. I still need 10k gold more to buy them all epic flyers. So i grinded stratholm yesterday for a few hours. It was enjoyable :P
Anyways to get to what u said. Why not gear them through normal instances. Cause at this point of time it is pointless. for the same investment of time u can get shiny epics.
I personally am just chilling, and planning on getting my toons a netherdrake and a wintersaber mount before the expansion and try to get 1 of them a baron mount :)

lol indeed.
heres what works fine for me:
work 8 hours a day. arrive home and relax. turn the pc's on and have a laugh with friends on AV.
ahaha sometimes its priceless to 1-shot t6 and sunwell pro's
have fun and see the game as a hobby, not the center of ur world. if i spent 20hours playing wow like i played other games on high school, i would be tired as u are :P

Don't forget they will be releasing the 51 talent content patch soon. I'm pretty burned out right now, but when that patch arrives I'm going to be hyped to use and exploit the OPness of the new talents. Might want to think about waiting for that patch to destroy some heroics as well.

I was burned out when i solo leveled my first toon to 70. I couldnt get another toon past the teens. I tried ordering power leveling on new accounts and they got banned. I wanted more toons, but didnt want to grind.
Then I found boxing. I got my first team of 5 classes to the mid 20s, making it my second highest characters boxing or not. Then I got tired of the grind, and boosted (which is even more boring, but more predictable leveling times, and no fedex quests)
Then I was pretty content with my group, quested in outland for a few levels, and bam, RAF comes out. Now I absolutely LOVE leveling! I am having so much fun running around and doing quests. The triple exp is so much fun to do. I can go to a zone, grab a few quests, do em, and turn em in and ding, all in just what seems like a few minutes. I got my first team to 60, and am working on the second. I will be milking this until my RAF time is up, then hopefully the exp to get to 70 will be lowered, and I can continue my grind, alternating rested exp on all of my teams, and grind instances for rep/gear. I doubt I will be 70 on any of my teams before wrath comes out, so I wont bother grinding for specific gear at 70, just so i have decent stuff to make leveling a bit nicer. The grind to 80 shall be fun, with less chance of high level gankings, and even so, with 5 70+ toons, it wont be the type of annoyance it is at level 20 or so...
I can't wait for WotLK 10 man raids. I have 6 active accounts, so it wont be too many more people i will need to fill out 10 mans. Gonna be fun!
It doesn't make much sense to do anything at this point, unless you're really just having fun :D
I'm still farming badges for gear that will get replaced, Money that will get spent and re-earned 10 fold. Why? because it's fun. I'm not gonna be in any major raids, like EVER this xpac on my mains. I'm not leaving my guild to hop from raid guild to raid guild just so I can get purples and down bigger bosses with the help of 24 strangers. I spent most of BC just leveling up, my first 70 was almost a year after it's release, so even though he's geared, there really isn't much point to going beyond that.
What I will have come xpac time, 3 decently geared 70's I can zoom to 80 and get in endgame RIGHT AWAY. A few MB teams I can play and gear at 80 within a few months, after I get my mains squared away. And tons of alts I'm getting to 60-70's and leaving them ungeared the instant they hit 70 till they can take a boat ride.
WotLK will pretty much be the ONLY playground I will be playing in.
Ever done world-pvp in Outlands? Create a raid with some friends and randoms, it's awesome.

I've also stopped gearing up the Shammy team. Not levelling the BE team in time for WotLK.
And to the OP's comments, I don't step foot inside any BG outside of AV (ok, I did EOTS for my 5 maces), mainly because you stand out so much more and generate so much more hate it's just annoying to do.

We did this exact thing the other nite, started with a show in shat one shotting warlock summon pets, much to the amusement of all around us. Then we took of to HF and the guys found me a fel reaver which i nuked down. then we had the bright idea of to raid honour hold.....well 10 min later we had nuked half the town + about 10 ally's who came to see what all the fuss was about. Had a blast but it was getting late and I had way to many beers to continue :D
Thanks to all who responded. i have once again found my focus and i am a happy panda again. I have decided to shelf the boyz and move onto war. The main reason i am moving is that war has provided Australian servers... 8o
On a side note. i should have mention that my lost focus was only in wow, i only play 2 hours a nite max, and maybe 6 hours in total over a weekend. I do have a life outside the game where i am involved in tennis, 4 x 4 (i love going up to the high country and running over our national emblems!) and other activities to numerous to mention here. Just saying

It got hard for me to focus as well knowing war was coming out and the expansion was only a few months away. I could really bust my ass to finish up crappy season 2 gear and maybe a pair of season 4 gloves, only to replace that gear at level 74 or so.
I think the main thing that makes me not want to expend too much effort is the fact that this late in the game there is virtually no way to gain any advantage over the average casual player - whether with skill, play time, or both. In arenas you compete against people with 4 seasons of welfare epics built up. PVP grinding can only get you season 2, which everyone and their granny has already. Multibox teams can grind out badges and heroic epics pretty fast, but that gear is like 14 months old already and everyone else has it too. Even if you were to get up to 2000-2200 5v5, it would take until about the first week of November to finish your season 4 set, then the expansion would come out that week.
When the xp comes out and everything starts fresh, no super easy welfare epics (which I think is a system to reduce barrier to entry for casuals - which is most subscribers), new arenas, etc. it will all be fun and easy to justify the effort to gear up. I remember leveling my warrior to 70 like 2 or 3 months after BC came out thinking I was going to be so far behind. Within a month at 70 we were tearing up season 1 and stuff like Halaa pvp gear, although easily obtainable, was not nearly as ubiquitous as the pvp epics are nowadays. That first few moths after release is just an amazing experience if you are a power player. Even as much as 9 months later it's still worth it to reroll. But 18-24 months into a release... well, things get watered down.

Those aren't small goals you know, try cutting down to one of those three options and doing anything thats not WoW related with the remaining time.
One tip I use to prevent myself from overdoing it is to switch on the parental controls and restrict my own available playtime (you only need to do it on one account if you're multiboxing). Stat with allowing yourself only 2 hours in the evening after mealtime, that way you get to have a decent meal with WoW as 'dessert'. It's easy enough to alter the time restrictions if you change your mind or need to play with friends at the weekend.

Don't force yourself to meet any goals in a day. Just do what you feel like you want to do and then log off. As many have also said, killing yourself over 70 gear at this point is not worth the trouble. Focus on getting gold if you need epic mounts, but otherwise just take it really easy or take a break for a month. Or just clear out different instances for the challenge of doing so.

you know what, perhaps your right, sometimes we get involved in something and loose focus of the bigger picture....maybe time to stand back a little....My fiance asks me time to time why I don't do other hobbies... and saddly it's the money. I'd love to get heavy into RC Cars and Planes, but I could easily drop $5-6K a summer into that, which I just can't justify right now... the downside is that when I burn out on WoW, i do drive her nuts, luckily she's patient and we always seem to find the balance between too much time together and too little.
