*Update*
I've hit 1970 rating and plan to make some awesome pvp videos on this next week so we can all enjoy the fruits of our labors. Let me know what you want to see in terms of footage - either from my view or the healers view. As well if you want to hear the ventrilo conversations at the same time.
**
I just wanna say yaaaa!!!
Currently rocking the Arena's with my setup, of 4 Shaman and brining a healer. I've gone about 20-4 this week pushing my rating up to 1823, my teammates seem to think 2k is pretty possible.
I'd like to make a pvp video but I think my main pc needs a reformat :(

Nice!
I was wondering the viability of multi-box Arena teams. Congrats! You'll be able to get your S3 Weapons and possibly the shoulders ;)

Thats pretty good. I always had a ton of trouble in the Arenas (even if it was me and 4 different people). It's like my mind just doesn't think once I step in an arena. I guess it helps having crap loads of burst dmg though all targeted on one person at the same time. As soon as you get one down (especially the healer), then the rest would mostly be a cake walk.
I don't think my setup of 1 pally and 4 priests is going to do well in arena's, but thats ok, I created them to see how far I can push PVE. Thinking about it and can't think of any good burst damage spells for priests. Shadow word death would be pretty good if used in combination with vamperic touch. 4 of them simutaneusly on one person with shadow weaving, +dmg gear and in shadow form could do some serious hurting. I think shadow word death has a pretty good casting time of like 3 seconds though, which is an eternity in arena's.
Good luck with your arena's, hope it keeps going well :)

Shadow Word: Death is actually instant cast with a 12 second cooldown.
Mindblast is 1.5 seconds with a 8 second cooldown. Without talents.

The preferred method for bursting down in Arena's is DPS first and healing last. They already can't heal through the damage, so chopping down their potential damage to me makes it that much easier.

definitely: I was running a 5 DPS arena team for a while, and DPS should always be the first target.
Especially Hunters and Rogues, because a hunter just sitting there plugging away can do a lot, especially with the huge buff in 2.3, and a rogue can lock down a player for a relatively long time in a 5v5 game. Locks and Shadowpriests make good secondary targets.

Wowwwwww! I made a fresh team at 1500 rating on Thursday to try out some healers to see which one works with me best. Saturday night and I hit 1970 rating. Yes that's right 1970 !!!!!!!
1014 arena points this week, zomg!!!

holy crap Ellay!
Every time I log onto my locks now I think I should be leveling my shaman. That burst DPS is just undeniable. CL and LB do have a significant cast time, but with bloodlust/heroism X 5 it really seems more viable every time I think about it. Congratulations!

Videos please!!! =)
Damn nice work dude.
Maybe I should get to levelling Team Slats.
Maybe this means *properly* played Shammys (not that I know how to do this yet :)) are viable with a second person healing. Not TRUE 5 boxing but still pretty impressive.
Interested to see how and if you can progress past 2000. I always had problems with healers well, healing. With 2 bubbledins it makes it REALLY hard to burst down, especially with some of the immune classes thrown in.
But that was with mages + priest. Shammys + an independant healer.... has an advantage in arenas. Not so much in AV or world PvP but still, very impressive!

The problem with my frapsing at the moment is I think I need a reformat :(. I took a look at one of my runs through a BG and the video would slow down and speed up constantly, never smooth as if my cpu was fighting for clock speed yet nothing else is taking up processing power.
As for progressing past 2k, the environment of the teams I am facing is insane. Every team is the cookie cutter flavor of the month spec past 2k. They call it the 2345 setup which consists of a...
Holy Paladin / Holy Priest / MS Warrior / Ele Shammy / Warlock or Mage. That setup has everything you could ever want for control, survivability, and damage. With my instant guarenteed crit Chain Lightning + Earthshock I can usually drop a target.
After that point though it becomes an insane LoS gimp event most teams use against multiboxing which I have found. They will all hide behind pillars and just chuck out like 1 spell while the healers will attempt to res their fallen. You can't chase one down either, they will just keep running around a pillar while the other across the map gets off a res. It ends up turning into a "camp the body" sort of fight, where I have to wait 3 minutes for my instant kill to come back up so I can blow them up again while on the move. Most matches taking about 20-25 minutes.
Overall though it's insanely fun, but just pointing out many coordinated teams will recognize the huge flaw in multiboxing and try to exploit it to the fullest :) All the while screaming about how they are going to lose so many points and that I have been reported for botting and awaiting a ban! :) muhaha.

Indeed. I'm a holy priest on a cookie-cutter 2345 team. The very nature of a focus-fire team like yours sends chills up my spine. I have never encountered multi-boxers before, so i'm counting on our sparsity when I actually DO have a multibox team.
Please keep us posted!

I posted a reply on that WoW post to support our community.
On a side note, if I weren't so PVE oriented, I'd feel compelled to roll 4 shamans. As it stands, by the time my "team" hits 70, I'll have 2 mages, 2 priests, and a lock at 70. I could probably respect both priests to the same DPS spec and have run some PVP with the Mages and Priests :)

I just did a search for my name in the blizzard forums and jeez, the past 2 days since I did Arenas I'm plastered all over with upset players. I suppose that is one of the benefits of completely destroying opponents. QQ tears taste so good in the heat of battle.

It's funny to read most of those posts, because they're made out of the frustration of the moment. I bet if many of them thought about it a bit before they posted, they'd just shrug their shoulders and not worry about it. But once they've posted, they feel committed to defending their anger. Example:
Why the heck must you resort to bots or some sort of hack to be able to win in a BG? You had 3 shamans following the main one, doing exactly as the 'leader' one was.. right down to the totems, allowing you to 1-shot 90% of people on the team... I hope you get banned.
Anyways, it's 3am, so I'm going to bed.
I wonder how long that person sat there simmering over being gang-banged repeatedly before finally going to bed at 3AM?
Ah well, salty tears taste sooo... salty.
PS- gratz on the arena ranking :)

Someone at work has a real issue with gaming sites... can't access any of them (hope this doesn't get too popular or I will be screwed!)
any chance of a brief synopsis?

The thread is actually blowing up, getting a lot more attention than I suspected. More or less it seems to be overall positive and in defense of multi-boxing which I like :)
With my Arena video coming out this week though. I imagine were going to have yet even more of these posts.

The problem for the whiners is that Blizzard has almost certainly had to answer the question hundreds, if not thousands of times already, and they have made clear that it is not against the TOS/EULA. Period.
So the only thing the whiners have is "but *I* think it's cheating!!!" Yeah well, hurray for you, here's your cookie. The day you create your own MMORPG or purchase WoW and take over, you'll have a say in the matter.
Anyway... can't wait to see the video!
Can you not BZZAPT a DPSer then BZZAPT their healer then with no more prospects of rezzing, simply pick them off? I guess pally heal and shammy heal and priest heal that makes it hard to do though.
How do you deal with warlock, warrior and perhaps priest fears with only tremors and trinket? I suppose you could rotate em.
I can see a very well played shammy group doing well. They have the burst and the survivability - a trade off for losing AoE dps but one perfect for arenas.

Actually, I don't even have a PvP trinket, I just utilize tremor totems and drop them at different intervals making any aoe fear pratically last 1 second or less.
Warlocks are offset by the grounding totems, their dots do nothing.
Warriors are only as good as their rage allows, if they aren't being hit they are 50% effective and have barely any burst potential. If they are being targeted they are going to die instantly anyways :)
The Fire Nova totem is just as good as a Blast Wave in terms of Aoe and extra DPS. It takes 5 seconds to go off, which just adds to the insane burst you can unload with a 1-2 second time frame.
It will be much easier to visualize with the movie in place. I still have improvements on my end as well that I can always get better :) but for the most part a Shaman's arsenal has a counter for anything that is thrown at me, which I like... a lot :)

Hey Ellay nice work! Do you have a post somewhere about your setup? I am just curious, started testing a couple of shamans the other day, and for pure "neato" factor I am thinking 3, possibly 4 might be in my future if my hardware will support them for PVP attempts.

You may have mentioned this somewhere else in this or another post, but I am wondering why you chose orc as the race for your shaman team.
Thanks ...

Well I like to pick female characters for the aesthetic look. Although Orc Females do not look very attractive they are the best choice instead of Trolls or Tauren. I'd rather be Dranei but, I'm on Horde.
Besides that they have 15% stun resist which is quite helpful.

My main is an orc... went enhancement so wanted the +5 axes and teh stun resist (till it got nerfed)
but for my 3x shammies they are tauren females cos the dance looks best in sync ;) oh and crappy stun (better than nothing)
BTW Awesome vid ;)
Bravo
11-12-2007, 12:29 PM
amazing stuff, I actually started 5 female orc shammies myself... just curious why you only have 4.. did you power level them or did you feel you need an extra person to help with healing?

I like the group aspect with other players as well. Overall though both are quite effective 4-boxing and 5-boxing Shaman.
For high end pvp, it helps to have someone completely focused on healing while I do the damage.

Well I like to pick female characters for the aesthetic look.
They are also smaller and easier to see around, which is something to consider since they're usually grouped together. I like the way the Draenei and Orc males are designed and animated, but they are larger than the females and the less space they take up, the better.

Very good point! when I first tried out Shamans on the test realm the only option was the Tauren Male, with full T6 gear on. I was a giant! that also definitely played a part in my decision without even thinking about it.
Also Blood Elves for life!
