View Full Version : 9800 gx2 issues - multiboxing impossible

I just installed the 9800gx2 - here's the problem I'm facing.

I normally run my multiboxers (2-3) in 2-3 separate windowed modes. However with this new card; running in anything but full screen mode is hell. Major lag, the time it takes to alt-tab between is 30sec plus, and lags my entire system to hell (Listening to repeated bits in ventrilo ftl)

I was previously running a 9600gt that worked really well in this regard.

Specs below, any help is appreciated (btw i tried the newest drivers 175.19 and now running beta 175.90 - no difference)

AMD Phenom X4 9850 (2.51ghz)
Corsair ram 4 gigs (although windows is only reporting 2.5gig in properties.. hrm)(800mhz, PC2-6400, thought it was 1066 but i guess i was wrong)
Gigabyte GA-MA770-DS3
GeForce 9800 GX2 1GB 512-bit GDDR3 (Came OC'd at 675mhz/memory clock at 2100mhz)
700w psu

Thanks!

Yeah, i've tried. They were capped from when I was using my 9600gt. I haven't changed anything else minus video card and drivers

The only thing I can think of is now having SLI on because it's forced on from the card.

Exact same card, same issue...in PiP, was taking over 60 sec to switch windows. I used max fps and the other one, lowered some of the WoW settings, got it down to about 1-2 seconds. If you search these forums for that card...it has issues with WoW and boxing...no idea why. It blows through other far more gpu intense games.

Use maximer and pip it. You shouldn't have any problems switcing although I am using 8800gt with no problems and only 2 accounts but no issues. A slight tear on the video of one of the instances but it correct is self.

Hi,

For the moment my 9800x2 is running fine when multi boxing on two 24" screens > one main screen en one split in 4 > just some lag in the big city's but im planning to go the hardware style setup.

I had an issue with this card on a friends pc. It turns out the newset driver is suspect, drop down to 175.16 and see if that helps

I haven't :X Can you tell me how? ?(1. go to keyclone/setup/command-editor
2. create a command for each wow
3. select wow.exe as the program, this will enable the wow specific fields
4. set the maxfps (active) to 40 and maxfpsbk (background) to 20
5. hit the button with a '+' on it and add it to the command list
6. exit setup and run your commands on the front panel (ie: wow1;wow2;wow3 )

that's about it. drop me a note if you are in need of more info.

good luck and have a great night,

Rob

I was having an issue like this with my 9800gtx

Have you upped the fan speed from 30%. Thoes dumbasses send out this card with the fan at 30% >.>

If not, download nTuner or something like that and change it to whatever you want. My card dropped over 15c

You don't say, but what resolution is your card set to?

And are you using one monitor or two? If two, how are they set up?

I have this card and haven't had any issues at all. It runs all my wows at 60 fps.
I don't use maximizer though. I just run two windows side-by-side in windowed mode(obviously).

Might be an xp/vista thing. I'm running on vista.
