View Full Version : Just checking in about 60 level gifting

I would be extremely sad if i found out that i needed to gift at 59 instead of 60. I am 55 atm but leveling fast today. The main blizz faq still says that once you hit 60 you lose the ability to grant levels. I read on these forums elsewhere that granting levels was changed to be able to go up to level 70?

Anyone level up to 60 and still grant levels? Does it work up to 70?

I know there is a 90 day limit i am just wondering what the additional level limit really is?

Why don't you ask on the official customer support forums? Or perhaps petition a GM in game? This really has nothing to do with multiboxing. But this is also general forums? ?(

Why not gift now? You can gift at 59. If it lets you gift later again, great. If not, nothing lost.

And the focus of this site is to discuss all things about playing multiple characters at once.

Refer-A-Friend =! Multiboxing. ( ;) )

Sure, multiboxing benefits greatly because of it, but one does not require the other. They are mutually exclusive.Oh ok

According to the RAF faq - There are a few limits on granting levels: (this is copy/pasted from blizz's faq)

Are there any limitations to granting levels to characters played by the veteran player?

Yes. The recruit may not grant a level to a character that is equal to or higher than the current level of the character he or she is playing.
Additionally, the recruit may not grant a level to a character that is level 60 or higher.

Can I save the "level-ups" I'm granted and use them at higher levels?

Yes. You can gift them to a character on the veteran account as you earn them or in one lump sum. However, you will need to claim all levels before the 90 day link period is up or before you hit level 60. Once that time expires or you hit level 60, the "level-ups" you had saved will disappear.

Will the experience bonus apply only to the recruit's first character? Or are all characters linked to the account eligible to receive it?

All characters on the recruit's account are eligible to receive the experience bonus, the ability to grant levels, and the ability to summon.

Now I have also seen some posts in the wow forums that would contradict some of this info (mainly granting levels @ 60) Now this could be misinformation (not the 1st time someone posted something totally wrong) or it could be a bug. Either way the info listed above is how blizz intends it to work. If you can get it to work otherwise then props to ya.

I was under the impression that you could gift them at any time. Man I'm glad I re-read the RAF FAQ. ^^

I can confirm that granting levels DOES continue to work 60-70. To clarify, on my 70 Shaman team, I was able to grant levels to my 47 Feral Druid to bring it to 60 while my Shamans were at 70.

I am not sure where NashTitan got that FAQ from but it is wrong and/or old.

The current one has no mention about a level 60 requirement.

Basics
Must use before your 90 days are up
Can not make the toon your level or higher
Can not make the toon higher then 60

Like Fur said, this isn't the best place to ask this. WoW CS forums is best or petition a GM on line.

Granting Levels Q&A:

Q: So if I invite my friend, and they level to 60, does that
mean I have a free 30 levels to gain? Or do these charges not stack?
For example you gain 1 level to give, and only have 1 to give until I
use it.

A: For every 2 levels a character on the trial account
receives, one level may be gifted to a character on the veteran
account. So, if a trial character, after he or she upgrades to the full
client, levels to 60, a character on the veteran account may receive
full 29 levels. The first giftable level is gained at level 3.

Q: I have a level 29 character. If my friend levels to 60 does that mean I can use the gifted levels all the way to 58?

A: Yes! Remember though the character cannot grant a
level to a character equal to or higher than their own level and may
not grant levels past 60.

Q: If I created a new account using Recruit-a-Friend, upgraded
the account and used the Paid Character Transfer service to transfer my
level 60 character over, would it then be able to gift one of my low
level characters 29 levels?

A: No, gifting levels are earned as you level on the RaF
account. A character that leveled exclusively on the RaF account would
be able to grant a total of 29 levels by the time it reached level 60.
For example if you transferred a level 30 character to the RaF account
for every 2 levels that character gains on the RaF account you would
receive 1 level that you could gift to the veteran account until level
60 giving you a total of 15 levels.

Q: Do I have to gift the levels right away?

A: No, you can gift them to a character on the veteran
account as you earn them or in one lump sum. You must use them before
the 90 day RaF period is up though. Once that time expires the levels
you had saved to be granted to the veteran account will disappear as
well.
Q: I have a level 30 character and a level 20 character on the
RaF account does that mean that I can give 23 levels to a level 25
character on the veteran account?

A: You can only gift levels to characters that are below
your level. So the level 30 character on the RaF account can only grant
5 levels to the level 25 veteran character. The level 20 character
would not be able to gift any levels to that character but could give 9
levels to a level 1-10 character on the veteran account, the level 30
could use the remaining 9 levels on any veteran character that is below
its level. .

Q: How do I gift a level to a character on the veteran account?

A: The character you want to give levels to must be
online and close to you in order to do this. You need to Right-Click on
their portrait and select "Grant a Level".

Q: Can I get some clarification on that last one? How do I grant a level again?

A: Ok, let's break this down a bit. You have a character
on the recruited account that levels from 1 to 60; that gives that
character 29 levels that you can use to grant to a character or several
characters on the veteran account that referred you.

Lets keep it simple and say that you just want to grant the levels
to one character on the veteran account. Your friend on the veteran
account selects a level 25 character; the granting character must be
standing near the veteran character in order to grant the level. You'll
need right-click on their portrait, you should see the option "Grant a
Level", and that is it. You'll be able to give all 29 levels to that
character if you wish bringing it up to level 54.

You can give the levels to one character or several on the veteran
account, the requirements are as follows: they must be under the level
of the granting character and you must use the levels before the 90 day
Recruit a Friend period is up.

I am going to spend all mine at 59 well a bulk of it anyways just incase. I know folks have stated they are able to spend well past 60 but better safe than sorry yanno?

Here is another conflicting statement from Blizzard this one not from the forum but straight from their support site.

Because of all the conflicting information going around... even on official wow forums i thought this would be a good place to ask. I still feel that way.

I am not sure if a GM in game will have the right information. Sometimes GM's have misinformation too. The site has conflicting information.

RAF does not = multiboxing... and yet it is being heavily used and loved by this community with many threads to support that.

So i wanted to ask this forum and this community if anyone had actually been able to gift levels in game beyond level 59. That was the information i wanted and i don't think the wow forums or a GM would have been as reliable.

I am using this specifically to generate my 5 boxing team. I don't want to have to stop and level my two toons to 30 or 31 before i level my other three to 60.

I label the post so you can see what it is about.

Sorry you didn't like it

I dunno, I did it at 60, may be a bug,, or "not intended", but i have used it for 4 teams now at 60, no problems at all.
What i do:
1. Level 4 toons raf'ed to 59. Work 90% of the way to 60.
2. Turn in 1 extra quest on my "last guy" dinging him to 60.
3. Immediatly gift from the level 60 player, backwards down the chain.

I end up with 3 toons at 60 & 90% of the way through that.
Then I proceed to gift up some level 30's I had. (all from Level 60 toons)

Works beautifully

Working on my 5th time up.
