I have Vista 64 bit with a GeForce 8800GT. Latest drivers all around. Q6600 processor with 2Gigs of ram.

In the past I have used this system (but with an 8800GTS and 4GB of ram and 32bit Vista) to 5 box wow. I chose to do a 64 bit install of windows vista this time so I can use all 4GB of my ram (once I get more ram) and I am wondering if thats my problem.

When I run 1 copy of wow, it runs pretty good, but not as good as I would have expected. I generally get about 30fps in Shat with everything turned up all the way. With two copies the whole computer slows way down. With 3 copies running the whole computer slows to the point where I can't do anything (I can't even login to the game). I have to basically hold down the power button for 4 seconds and shut off the system then reboot.

If I start task manager I can see I am under 2GB of physical memory with the 3 wows sitting at the log on screens. I can hear my hard drive thrashing around like crazy like it's lack of memory, but my the whole computer is just so slow. processor % is around 25% while this is going on too.

I suspect it's video related, maybe a setting or drivers. This is a brand new install of windows though with the latest video and motherboard drivers. I am thinking I may have to go with vista 32bit and see if that fixes things.

Do a search on the forum for maxfpsbk that is a good place to start... do you have a quad core? setting CPU affinity is also nifty.

He is running 4 gigs now. You can run 3 copies of WOW and vista with 2 gigs. I am doing it on my second PC with few issues. Ogrimmar is a little choppy for sure but otherwise I get easily 45fps on the focus window.
