View Full Version : Can't post using Firefox 3

When I attempt to post here using Firefox 3 - new thread or reply, does not matter -- I get this message "The data you have entered is invalid. Please check the information you have given by the marked fields."
It's highlighting the Editor window so that appears to be what the issue is. I tried several things, disabled all Firefox addons, etc... still can't post. I can post in various other forums -- my guild forums, official forums, EJ, etc... but not here.
Anyone else with this issue??

Well lucky for you, IE8 Beta 2 just released publically.

Are you using 'Editor' or 'Source Code' to post?
I can post with FF3 using 'Editor' but not 'Source Code' tabs.

Downgrade to FF2, silly early adopters

Can't expect websites to have already developed workarounds for the quirks of new buggy browsers

Well lucky for you, IE8 Beta 2 just released publically.Yup yup, been running IE8 on a test box at work for a bit now. It breaks a few things so not willing to install it yet... looking good though, I like the UI features (web slice is neat) and it's a bit faster than IE7.

Can't expect websites to have already developed workarounds for the quirks of new buggy browsersUh, FF3 has been in beta/developer release for months... 3.0.1 is the current live version.
And do you consider that perhaps it's this forum software that's buggy, and that the new tighter code in FF3 is just revealing behavior that already existed?
So yeah -- downgrade to the buggy FF2 if you don't like a more secure, faster, and stable browsing experience... I guess...

I don't really care how long it was in beta though, or what the version number is, neither of that really reflects the stability of the software. Firefox 2 still crashes and has issues after years.

easy to replicate steps:

hit reply
click the Source Code tab
type in stuff
hit poast...

voila, error. Does it every time for me... /shrug

yeah FF2 is a buggy mess a well. I like opera or IE 7You planning on being specific or just throwing hyperbole around on general principle? Been using firefox for several years now. It's never been as buggy on any of the systems I use it on regularly as IE is. And when FF does crash (usually due to the craptastic flash plugin, which is usually what kills IE on me, too), it doesn't crater my entire desktop session along with it.

P.S. Why is this post in general and not off-topic, anyway?

Dunno, I guess it should be in Software Tools or somewhere else. Mods feel free to move. :)

So ya, as you can see on the Source Code tab there's some kind of line through the text box. I can click on the top or the bottom area, it's like there is 2 input boxes stacked there.
Top part = gives the posting error
Bottom part = lets me post.

I get this as well.

I just post in the bottom half of the edit screen.

Also using FF3. Just type where the cursor ends up rather than moving it and there is no problem.

Ya I have the same issue, where it flops down to the second half. It's gotta be a setting because I don't have the same issue on my other pc's. With Firefox 3 installed.

Actually wow, ya change it to Editor instead of Source code and the problem is solved.

Seems to work OK from IE 6 ;) [Edit: had put 5, it was a typo]

I do see some oddities with CR/LF behaving more like a

tag than a
tag, and when I load pages on this system they jump all over the damn place before settlin gdown and rendering right, I'd wager thats IE6 being old, crappy and outdated.

I have an issue too with FF 3. I run no script... but I enable this site. It is hit and miss but I have lost at least a few posts because of it.

Same here under FF 3. Been this way since I upgrade to 3. Have to edit using the lower (gray) area instead of the upper (preview/blue) area.
