I sorted the wiki before asking this, and considered asking this question on the end of one of my old threads so as not to add to the spam. I honestly did try and search something but it's hard to come up with a keyword combo that would help. I did try, apologies.

I have a single main account and am planning on adding 4 accounts. X main will not be linked, A>B>C>D will be. I will 4 man quest or 5 man boost the FOTM shammies to 60 to join my 60 pally and then head to 70.

My best friend RL also plays and live an hour away. When I was explaining my plan he said "you never got me a referral when I got you into WoW, get me the free month and zebra now"

So I'll have him invite my A account, which will then start the chain. All above board and simple. I own my accounts he gets a free month, xp bennies on any lowbie he groups with my guys (him at his house controlling his 1, me at mine controlling 4), and a mount.

The thing I'm worried about is when he comes to visit. We've rarely played both at the same time LAN party style, but if he brings his comp up, or I put a second comp I have around in play, there could be a case where I am online with my 4 on my main box and he is online with a grouped lowbie on a second box. That would risk banning. Don't want that.

He's already occasionally logged on from my comp to do dailies or various piddly things.

What should I do?
1- Report myself prior to him coming to hang out any weekend where it's likely we may both play? ( I plan to report myself weekly to make sure it's known I'm boxing)
2- Report myself but still not have his guy grouped with my 4 when he's in the same room and on the same IP?

I can easily keep my main and 4 accounts unlinked to anyone else, but it would be nice to share the RAF, free month, and mount with a buddy as it was intended, I just don't want to risk a ban.

edit: Thanks for moving to the new thread Mr. mod guy. cleaned up the subject so I only look like half a schmoe instead of a fullgrown schmoe.

edit2: Mr. Mod Guy apparently being Wilbur. Thanks.

Neither.

So long as you are genuinely not multi-boxing with his account, it's a non-issue. Blizzard can readily tell the difference between somebody who's multiboxing, and somebody who just happens to be playing at the same address.

If you search (http://www.dual-boxing.com/forums/index.php?form=search) for the expression "same ip address" (with the quotes) then you'll find some threads where this has been discussed before.

edit: remove my opening paragraph now it's been split from the original thread :)
