OK so i know pretty much EVERYONE is wanting to dabble into a DK for a bit be it jsut to 60 or beyond. to you 4 shammys 1 pally tank group. What do you think about getting a DK in there instead?

I have been running 5 shamans and love it and not intersted in a pally tank option but how about a DK. Is there any synergy between the two or will pally tank still be supreme?

If might work, as DK's have a lot of AoE abilities. But so do warriors. So far its hard to tell which class is the best aoe tank in wotlk.

Seriously warriors are the worst AoE style tanking class. TC only hits 4 targets, demo shout is well meagre threat at best.

Cleave is a terrible way to dump rage, and whirlwind well if your tanking in zerker stance you should reroll.

They are now getting this cone type attack which in theory looks nice. But with the cooldown on it as it currently and stunning mobs i dont see it to viable.

Stunning is bad for your rage generation. And besides that playing warrior is much more keybinding intensive then lets say play a paladin.

just fyi i got a 70 prot warrior, and a 70 prot pala. I use the warrior for single boxing since its more fun to tank with, however the pala is much easier to tank with when boxing.

I thought I read that warriors are getting AoE tank abilities in WotLK. I won't replace my paladin. I am going to level a DK and sub him in at times. They appear to be decent caster tanks but are in most other ways going to be inferior to the pally. Well see. It all could change tomorrow :/

Devs have already stated a few times that they intend pallies to remain kings of aoe tanking.

I've got a 72 DK in beta. They can't AOE tank even half as well as a pally.

In WOTLK warriors are getting a skill called "bloodbath", I think. It's an AOE bleed designed to help hold aggro.

The thing you also have to realize is that -- not only do they AoE tank well (and sure, other classes can AoE tank with a bit of effort) they also BENEFIT from ALL shammy totems -- including spell damage, mana spring, windfury, etc.

Not only do they BENEFIT from shammy buffs -- they buff shammies! Kings for PvP, BoW for PvE...

Last but not least, you can start a pally/shammy team at the same level. If you're doing a new team you'll have to wait for your DK to get out of the DK zone (I believe they start at 55 but don't leave the zone until 60?) to meet up with your shammies.

I see the DK as an interesting class, and a playstyle I might like... but I really don't see pallies being REPLACED yet. Let's keep in mind that the pally class is still waiting for its fine tuning from the beta devs, so we haven't really seen much movement or direction in WoTLK regarding that spec.

Might try something crazy like using a DK as DPS, don't ask me why but I always had this idea of a pally/DK/priest/hunter/shammy team weird I know.
