View Full Version : Switched it up a bit
So far i have got my 4box shammy team to 40 and decided to switch it up a bit, and am now 5boxing a priest and 4 warlocks. I am new to having more then one class and was currious of what types of tips y'all have for this particular set up. What kinda talent tree should i focaus the priest on? And how would you set up your action bars and macros for attacking and healing at the same time? So far I have gotten them to 9, and i'm sure there is more out there to make the multiclass process easer.

The biggest trick I've found so far is to change my mindset from "this button casts this spell" into "press this button when this happens". For example, my "spam" button will cast a spell from the mage and /castsequence dots from the warlock. The real trick is to get the timing of the spells the same. If one is casting a 1.5 second cast an another is casting a 2 second cast then you won't be as efficient unless you are really spamming the button :D.

I put similar spells on similar buttons. So I'd put SW: P on the same button as your warlock DOT button, possibly making a sequence on the priest for blank spots (so you dont waste mana re applying the same dot on the priest)
Also, spamming buttons with sequences on em with instant cast spells will move to the next spell in the sequence, even if you are still on cooldown, so I'd advise against putting instants on one toon with cast time spells on another. My priest and mages have Fire Bolt and Smite on the same key, and Pyroblast and Holy Fire on the same (i either cancel the cast on the priest, and restart it a couple seconds in, or just let the priest's spell hit first, then i have time to shield up)
You could also make a round robin fear, with the priest doing its fear, and the warlocks howl of terror. I use round robin frost nova and it works wonders for just running around, if i dont want to stop and kill one measly mob. Round robin basically cuts your cooldown immensely. If you get a resist, just hit it again, and the next lock will fear, etc etc. Usually by the time you get to your last one, the first one is off of cooldown and you are ready to go again. If you go holy on the priest, put your AOE Heal on the same key as Hellfire, thus negating the health drain on the locks. My mages have Arcane Explosion on the same key as Holy Nova (with blank spots in the priests castsequence to save on mana.)
Just think of similar actions for a given action. Like Shackle Undead and Banish, etc etc.

Also don't forget to set up additional keybindings on your other bars. For example with my Locks I am using Right Bar button 1 mapped to T for Life Tap and G mapped to the seconday right bar button 1 for health stone usage. The more classes the more keybindings you will most likely find your self using.

Make cast sequence macros if you can't figure out how to link up some skills. Like on my 4xshaman 1xMoonkin, I got the Moonkin using the same macro for almost every single DPS situation. The macro does a rotation of wraths, moonfire and insect swarm while the shaman choose one spell at a time between Lightning Bolt shocks. When the shaman does chain lightning I do a starfire. And when I cast purge on the shaman, the moonkin does faerie fire. I figure, while I'm dispelling him might as well also debuff him. This may not be the perfect setup since I just started doing this, but maybe it'll give you some ideas. Play around with it.

my current 4lock/priest group is 33 now
i 'drive' with my priest and use the addons Grid and Clique (google them) for healing
left click = renew
right click = flash heal
middle button = shield
button 4= prayer of healing (soon to be circle of healing)
and just Click on the target that needs healing
and use my buttons mainly for warlock spells
1= wanding
2= shadowbolt
3= instant dot castsequence (Siphonlife, Corruption, Curse of agony) with a reset=combat/target switch
shift3= casttime dots (immolate, etc)
4= drain life (with a /cast [target=focustarget, nochanneling:drain life] Drain Life) this allows for button mashing
shift4= drain soul (same macro)
5= lifetap
6= instant fear (right now only on my priest, but when my locks get insta fear i will round-robin so i get 5 fears every minute)
as said, playing the priest, i mash the buttons (i got them memorized easily) while having the target selected on my priest
and clique healing does not switch target, so just monitor grid (or other healthbar mod) to heal
Thanks yall this opened my eyes a lot. Talos i may be sending you some PMs soon about some macros if thats ok. Since you have the same combo as i.
