View Full Version : WoW Macro - Quest Accepting (simulate right clicking)

Guys who have 5 boxed... when you did quests with your characters, did you have to right click on NPC's and maunally open and accept quests with all 5 of your characters when leveling? I know that there's macro code that, once you right click the NPC, will allow you to select and accept quests. But... how the heck can I target an NPC and have my other 4 characters /assist and open a dialogue with the NPC?
Also, did any of you ever figure out a macro that would cause all 5 characters to repair? As I get my hardware in place for 5 boxing, these are things I think about. Plus, I've been off of work the last 2 days so I've been stalking these forums :)

i dont know anyway around that problem but mouse is what i use to target NPC for quest and repair. and it not that bad once u do it enough >.>'. also i share quest a lot (easier to share than click NPC for each toon)
p.s. get use to use mouset o control your char and accept quest(especially escort quest)
Easy. Wireless mouse set to the same frequency.
Since your viewport is the same, just right click on the guy and click accept once. It does it on all 5.
I macroed pvp medallion quest turn ins :) Spam right click and the macro and presto - honor.

You dont have to do this on all machines.
Just accept the quest on your master machine, and then share it to the group.
Then have a macro on all client machines that accepts the shared quest.
/script AcceptQuest{}

Hmm good point on the AcceptQuest()
Any of you multiboxers do anything tricky to repair/sell items from your seconardy characters? Seems like clicking repair on every character would get tiresome.
Same wireless trick - I click repair once and it does it on all 5.

I have 2 wireless mice that came with my keyboards, but I never actually tried using them in synch. that actually works? I'll have to give it a go.
I use 4 at the same time. Move mouse to top corner every so often to resync.
Helps A TON to use identical hardware though.

Hey Xzin
What server are you playing now? and what are your toons name?
I am actually not playing just yet. I have not played since the expansion hit.
I have, however, been quite busy building my new hardware. It's set to be one hell of an upgrade. Did I mention I am going to 10 box :) 2 Teams of 5. A Mage Team and a Warlock Team. Give me a little while to get them all to 70 though :)
I still play on Magtheridon - US.

Lol 10 box. Thats great. Hey Xzin, what are the specs on your lowest-end computers? I know Steph said that his weakest link was a P4 1.6ghz. I'm going to have 3 AMD Athlon XP 1700's, 1GB, 128mb vid as my 3 weakest links. I figure it should do the trick, but am always interested in other people's hardware.
The Zin mages all have AMD 3200+ or so single core processors and 6600 GT video cards. A gig of ram.... nothing too fancy as WoW is not a real intense game.
Xzin had until recently a 6800 Ultra video card and a 3ish ghz Extreme edition processor - also a gig of (pretty quick) ram. 2 Raptors in raid. I recently upgraded Xzin to a 7950 card.
My new boxes (not sure if I will use them for the warlocks or what) consist of 2 gigs of memory, AMD Athlon 64 5600+ 2.8 Ghz Dual cores, Geforce 8600s, and a mid to high end micro atx mobo. They have everything I would need to run the Zins on - sans video card - so why not save some space?
All of my computers have battery backup and redundant internet.
Honestly, under a gig of ram will cripple you in large fights. Get at least a gig. The next major bottle neck is the video card. At least a 6600 GT - perhaps a low 7 series is great..... avoid the 7200 as it sucks and avoid any integrated graphics because they also suck. The processor is nice but WoW is not a real intense game. Single core AMDs are dirt cheap and while they are not top of the line, they are good processors at a damn good price. Hence using them in all of my "Zins".
My new Xzin box is a beast. 3x 8800GTXes, Quad Core Extreme Edition, ultra high end motherboard, 4 gigs of ram, raptors in raid (considering going DRAM solid state), etc etc.
A bit more of a verbose answer than you perhaps requested but the bottom line is that any "decent" box can run WoW no problems. I think I spent about $400 per my newest Zin boxes.... and thats a bargain compared to what the last ones cost - and the new ones are quite a lot faster.
Not that it really matters - both will be able to run WoW at reasonable settings or better at max fps.
Don't forget to defrag your drives from time to time though.
I hate to knock AMD because I am a shareholder but their linux drivers SUCK. I don't buy AMD video cards and I can't at this point in time suggest them. Interestingly enough, I also own Nvidia stock. They were both pretty compelling buys a few weeks ago :)

yeah, I jsut acquired the AMD Athlon XP 1700's that I talked about earlier, and I figure that with a decent 128mb video card that they'll work fine for secondary computers. Right now, my secondary computer is a P4 2.6ghz (upgraded from a 1.8ghz) and it works great.
As this is one of my only hobbies, I may put more money into it such as you did, but right now I'm testing to make sure I actually like 5 boxing :)

Well, I finally got all my hardware setup and it seems that the wireless mice that were packaged with my keyobards cannot transmit to more than 2 computers at once. The keyboards are fine, but the mice are not.
Plus, it takes a little bit of time to "synch" the mouse with a particular computer, so I need to find a way to open a chat window with an NPC.
Is there any command that will open a chat with an NPC? essentially this is simulating right click once you have the NPC targetted.
