I am brand spanking new to the community and fairly new to the concept of Dual Boxing. I have been flirting with the idea for a long time now because I have three accounts to my name, since I lost my discs to a friend who moved away and another set that met its end when going face to face with the caster on my chair.

Now I know when it comes to learning something new I should not jump into it and take it all on at once so I have been reading through the various resources this community has to offer such as the Wiki and user written guides all through out the forums.

So as my first experiment of sorts I have decided I would give two druids on one machine a shot first. I am utilizing the open source program AHK and I am aware of the very small chance that a GM in the worst of all moods may slap me with the almighty ban stick. As a precaution of course to prevent any real loss I have created the two druids on the accounts separate from my main. I am going to move up to Keyclone soon as my paypal account clears that validation stage.

So far I have noticed that the early levels being 1-6 involve just your basic spells such as Wrath and even auto attack since I have such a small mana pool. I plan to spec both Balance with points in resto to be able to maintain some healing on the pair. Should I have both characters maintain identical specs or should I have one of the two go for her resto points first then into balance?

Also I would like to have an idea of the challenges I am going to face running two druids as opposed to other classes or talent specs.

My system is fairly basic compared to those I have read up on but with my current job there is more then enough room for upgrades and eventually another system.

Intel Core Duo E6400 2x2.13 GHZ
2gigs RAM
NVIDIA GF 8600 GTS OC
250Gig HDD
Creative Spectre USB KB (I know that USB is frowned upon around here)
Logitech G5 Mouse:
NOSTROMO N52 Gamepad.
1x Acer AL1916W 19" Widescreen monitor

If you've read through the various posts in our almighty community you'll find the following:

1) People generally tell newbies to stay away from melee classes, so definitely keep Balance specced if you want to stay with the druids. This is because melee is very position dependent, and using /follow to run around wont work too well with melee attacks.

2) Theres nothing against the blizzard TOS for using AHK or keyclone. Though, do yourself a favor and get TwoBoxToolkit (Katharsis)
http://wowinterface.com/downloads/info7199-TwoBoxToolkit.html This mod will relay all whispers from your "secondary" character to your main. This way, if a GM whispers you... you'll know it.

3) Mages/Warlocks do more damage than druids, but maybe aren't quite as versatile (druids can heal, stealth, tank)

4) Learn as much about macros as you possibly can.

5) Just have fun :)

I have similar specs to the ones you have on your current rig. I have posted my experience hardware wise here, http://www.dual-boxing.com/forums2/viewtopic.php?t=1477, and in a few other threads if you care to search. :D

I don't appreciate the lack of cookies. I was promised cookies.

I feel deceived.

Just a point:

While you or I may not use AHK to 'bot' with its perfectly possible to do so with the software. (I have seen a very good fishing bot in use.) Blizzard may well decide that too many people are using AHK to 'bot' with and add it to the warden for detection. And while using AHK isn't against the EULA using third party software for unattended play is, be very wary. Blizzard will ban all users not just those who actually 'bot' with it.
