I use one wow folder and one config folder and I got tired of all my clients either having sound on or sound off. When they are all on it seems that everything is louder. I really like having just the main char with sound on and all others with it off. For those people that feel the same as me and use one of the packages like octopus or keyclone that allow modification of config.wtf variables you can fix this problem.
For Octopus you go into the profile editor and for each client you want to configure you click the New button to create a new modification. Under name you put Sound_EnableAllSound and for the Value you put 1 to enable sound or 0 to disable.
