I might just do some hunters again someday if this goes live the way I'd like it to. According to Kalgan, they had a deadzone to keep 'em from shooting in melee range. Apparently, they're finally gonna fix the bug and remove the "fudge" gap so ranged minimum meets melee maximum. /cheer!

4x hunters 1x priest just might become viable. It lacks good aoe making leveling a pain though.

It will make hunters even more easy mode :(
the reason I stopped playing my old main (hunter) is due to the influx of hunters in 1.7 :(

That arguement is weak. The entire game is easy mode. :lol:I second this and raise you a "DAMN RIGHT!" Really, hunters are easy until you start trying to maximize things. To paraphrase another poster I saw elsewhere, it goes something like this:
Average hunter = easy
Superb hunter = very difficult
Average mage = easy
Superb mage = moderately difficult
Average priest = moderately difficult
Superb priest = very difficult
Average tank = very easy
Superb tank = very difficult
CAVEAT: "...depending on how overgeared you are."
I think far too many people see how easily hunters accomplish day-to-day tasks like farming, world PVP, basic instance runs, etc., and arbitrarily extend that to upper-tier play. Problem is, it doesn't hold water. Being a trap monkey for heroics and elsewhere ties in so many different skill variables that it is rare to find someone both knowledgeable and set up for it.

Why priest? Wouldn't a resto shaman be better aligned for the group.
1. Agilty Totem
2. Mana Tide
3. Earthshield on whatever pet is tanking
4. Bloodlust/Heroism
5. Chain Heal
6. Chain Lightning
7. Also wears Mail when crafting (or to dress alike for roleplay)
8. Resurection
9. Shaman also has totem Pets (10minute timer though)
10. Same Race (all Shaman and Hunter races overlap)
But I'm biased to shaman as I play one. I do plan to make an Hunter to dual-box with (just 2 accounts), not ready for 5.

Priest = AoE heal
Heal all hunters and their pets in one cast.
How often are the hunters getting hit and not their pets?
Shaman can just chain heal off one pet and hit several. I love chainhealing melee. Easysauce.

I prefer true AoE heals like PoH/CoH for one primary reason: counter-AoE. Chain heal works fine in some situations but if you get into a spot where you're getting spammed with AoE or are taking a lot of random group damage, true AoE heals > all.

Healing stream totem if you plan to take regular AoE healing. At 70, mine ticks for 125 per 2 (that's about 300 health per 5). Granted, it's not burst, and priests exceed at regular burst healing. But combined with chain heal it is not hard at all to heal through even heavy aoe damage, particularly because chain heal is "smart" at picking who it should be healing.
Not saying that priest healing is bad. I have a 70 shaman, priest, and druid. I'm just saying that for synergy, given the fact that hunters can feign death and misdirect to ensure pets grab aggro, and that shaman have agi/str totems, priest isn't the only option (as most multiboxers seem to play priest, I can understand why most recommend them).
EDIT: In addition, I understand there are alot of 4xlock plus priest groups running around. Priests would probably be better for these teams as they can top off the warlocks after they lifetap, so this sort of "aoe damage" is frequent and something they excel at.
Furthermore, since pets will be clustered either by the hunter, or by the mob, chain heal will provide a huge benefit in the majority of cases. A priest needs to be close to everyone that they're healing (except Circle of Healing). Since I'm assuming the hunters will be following the priest, that means that the priests's aoe heals will most likely not hit the pets if the pets are far away. So even the priest wouldn't be hitting all 9 targets if the pets were too far away from the hunters, which is the likely case.
Fursphere - if the hunter pulls aggro off it's pet, people seriously need to lrn2hunter. Feign death? Misdirect? Trap? Anything?
And if all 9 are taking HEAVY aoe damage I think you've got an issue of an over-pull. Typically how I play my shaman is to regularly chain heal off the melee. If range pulls aggro, it's their fault - but if for some reason the ranged gets aoe'd, then I simply chain heal once or twice off of the ranged (hopefully standing nearby each other, which multiboxers will), and then continue chain healing off the melee. Why would a pet die with a dedicated healer? Especially with multiple pets - would losing one be the end of the world?
Chain heal automatically heals the people nearby your target, prioritizing them by persons with the largest health deficiency. This is ideal for pets, and damage on multiple targets nearby each other.
I'm advocating shaman because of their huge buffs as well as perfectly capable healing. Priest would also work fine, and they also have great buffs, but in my opinion shaman have buffs that are better tailored to hunters.

As long as the pets are significantly far away, there's also tranquil air totem.... Example of totem placement:
[tranquil air]------------[hunters]--------------[pets][mob]
Of course, then they wouldn't get agi totem since they're both air totems.
What would be fun is to play around with distracting shot "kiting" ;)

Yep... I think Vyndree understand my concept. Priests are great, but for pure utility with the hunters Resto Shaman are great.
