View Full Version : Anyone else have too many 60s now?

So its been a few weeks now since RAF (a month almost?), I'm sure others have boxed up a couple of teams up to 60. Does anyone else sometimes feel overwhelmed by how many characters they have? I think I've got something like 12 60s right now!
I have two 70s, both very well geared (pally, mage). Many days I'll just log in with one of them and run a raid, heroic, etc. Then I feel guilty for ignoring the multibox team - 4 shamans. If I run the 4 shamans + pally through ramparts, after 1 run I'm bored and hearth them all and logout. I am completely ignoring the second team of 60s I leveled up, and the 2 60s I created through RAF gifting (5 minutes /played to 60 is insane, lol).
Its a bit overwhelming how much there is to do once you hit 60 - not just level up to 70, but do it in a smart way so you have gold/rep, skip the collection quests (except the ones with really nice rewards), PVP so you can have a bunch of honor and tokens saved up by the time you hit 70, etc, etc. I am thinking I am just going to focus on my single team of shamans and my 2 existing 70s, once they are all 70 and have epic mounts I can go back and revisit the 60s, plus when WOTLK comes out leveling 60-70 will be easier.
The RAF thing was great, but a word of caution, it can get out of hand really fast. It took me almost no time (one weekend or so) to level a second team up to 60, but now I have absolutely no clue what to do with them, and if I try to level up skills I know it'll be a huge money sink. Plus leveling up a second team gives you 60+ levels to gift, and then naturally you'll want some more alts to join these 2 new 60s etc, etc. lol!
The worst part is that when WOTLK comes out I want to 4 or 5 box deathknights, so all these 70s may basically become inactive or profession bots. ugh, just thinking about that makes me crazy! Oh well, I guess I wouldn't be able to create a DK unless at least one 70 on each account.

I got to this point too, so I took some time out from playing to work out what I was exactly doing.
Here's what I came up with as my actual objectives:
1. Have one of every class at 70/80, regardless of gear.
2. Have a paly/4 shammy group to play with in instances
3. Have a full hunter group for incredibly overpowered grinding
4. Have 1 of each profession at 375/450
And that was it. I started out with a long list, like pvp, rep, gear, and so on, that had grown from the possibilities. But when it comes down to it, that's what I really wanted. To attempt any instance, to grind fast for cash, and just to be able to swap chars if I felt like it.
And you need to resist the urge to vary from your goal. As one poster had said once, don't make the game into 'work'.

I have had RAF for a little over 2 weeks, and while I have not played to much so far I have gotten the following :
Mage x5 - 1-60
Hunters x5 to 29
Warlocks x5 to 38
Shamans x5 to 18
Druids x5 to 16
Im personally not working on any professions, my main goal is getting everything but the druid to 60 before my triple xp ends, and if I have enough time after that also the druids.
I would also like night elf hunters on a high pop server for shadowmeld fun but I most likely wont do that just from boredom after all these groups.
It is awesome though, I wanted more groups but i dreaded leveling again, this makes it fun because you don't even have to do all the kill quests, you can literally just pick the easiest ones to do.

I would like to take this time to express my pure hatred for all the above posters. I HATE YOU ALL AND YOUR RAF.
ok /calm. I wish I had started boxing way later haha. I totally envy that you guys can just auto level characters to 60 with it. /sigh

I just wonder how many of these actual RAF players make it to 70.
As we have seen in many threads people complain about going to 70 takes so long. collection quests issue's stuff like that.
Would not be amazed if we loose up to like 75% of these people in a month or 2. Either burned out from levelling so many lowbie's or just tired of levelling their grps further :)

I was going to do this, but at the end of the day I worked out this question... What is one group going to do that the other isn't? Plus your other groups.
You'll have 20 levels for each group to get. Plus your other groups.
That is so much time spent levelling that whatever ou are trying to get to you won't be there for a very long time anyway. And then all that gear just to get them to a decent spec.
But just my 2c.
Well, I'm going to join the ranks of the RAF, they convinced me.
What I'm hoping to have at the end of it is 5 accounts with lots of options.
5x shammy team
one account with 2 great boxing healers, holy priest and resto shammy, possibly pally as well.
3 mid accounts with dps teams of 3x mages, Spriest +2 locks, possibly others.
and my main original account, with every tank in game on it, with dps to spare.
My original account has 3 70's (prot warrior and pally, resto druid) on it already, and almost every class above 40. It'd only take like 35 or so gifted levels to get the rest to 60, so I'm only linking one account to it, and even deleting 2 low level toons to make room for teams and a DK tank come xpac. The other 3 accounts will be linked to the secondary account, which will I'll be able to make one and a half insta 60 with every team I level to 60. Thinking of putting another warrior and rogue so I can spec them differently than those on account 1.
My biggest concern atm is what the hell to name all these alts. Going with Reddii Aiim Fiire for my mages, other forms of oji for my shammies, and as for the rest, I have no idea.

This is the exact reason Im holding of doing RAF until my 4 sham 1 pal team is 70.
I need that team geared and ready to go to 80, and I need them to build cash before I do the RAF push.
Then, either before or after the expansion (preferably before, but doubt Ill have time), Ill set up RAF and push 1-2 more teams to 60, with the goal to get a few free 60 of hard to multibox classes and to also break into a new server with a few characters (ie 5 box a team to 60, and then gift a number of support classes for tradeskills etc).

Well i'm atm leveling a warlock,druid,hunter,shaman.. these are classes ihat friends have and I know how to play and wanted my own just for random kicks. Next set will be either 4 shaman or 3 shaman and a rogue. I have a 69pally,69mage,69warlockx2 and priest team atm.
Then if I dont hit a crazy point/burnout, I may roll something horde side in case I ever decide to return there, thou i prob will pass on the time sink.
I plan to play the mix team I have and the 4shaman and a pally team in wrath. Figure the 60's would be fun for other random stuff.

I will say, while it sounds nice on paper to have a "alt set" of different classes, in practice its not as viable as it sounds. Leveling 60-70 is s-l-o-w. Doing quests is slow as heck (so many collection quests), and running instances is slow. Especially after the insane speeds of RAF from 1-60. With just 4 shamans (my pre-RAF team) I am muddling along at a decent pace from 60-70, trying to do 4 different classes w/o grounding totem etc would be a bit of a nightmare. And once I hit 70 there is so much to do still, it'll be very helpful in expansion to have the s2 welfare epic gear so thats a few dozen hours of PVP grinding, arena a bit, try to do the sunwell dailies for gold/rep, maybe work on the netherdrake mounts. All of those will easily consume the 2-3 hours/day of playtime, leaving no time at all for more teams.
I am thinking mostly about WOTLK - it would be nice to have a team of 5 geared 80s out the door quickly who can farm/run instances/etc, with 4 or 5 DKs leveling in slow (rested) time during that time as well. Between 10 characters all professions would be covered.
In reality it is much better to have 5 70s doing dailys and farming gold than a ton of 60s who have a ton of different profs but can't get gold as fast. While I hate paying 100g for a fel iron rod, its a one time expense and leveling blacksmithing to 350 would be 2000g+ of expenses, I'd rather pay the 100g, which I know I can farm in just a few minutes at 70.
I agree with the people who said think out carefully what you want and what is realistic, and focus on just a few specific goals. I thought I'd easily be able to level a second set to 70, but just leveling one is boring enough that I think that idea is out the door for now :)
