My team are lvl 61 at the moment and grinding seriously hard in Hellfire even taking collection quests. Of course, a chance to practice my team lightly on PVP should not be passed up. So I've done the Hellfire Fortifications for a couple of days now. Cut the long story short... Yesterday at lvl 60 I blasted a PVE epic'd lvl 70 Hunter in a snap, immediately following a lvl 66 hunter kill as well. No deaths on my end. Today, to do my daily I did the quest again. A merc/glad geared lvl 70 pally incl weapon (set - rest are blues and one green I think) fell prey to my shammies who are lvl 61. O.O. Again no deaths on my part. Pretty short fights. Starts with ES,LB,CL - done (hunter fight started with LB, then CL,ES). They got the first shot in both fights but failed to take a single shammy down. So I wonder how much more damage my team can do when they're 70 and decently geared.. Hrm. I would hate me too if that happened to me.

Shammy team only has quest gear..

Edit: The pally is ret spec'd and blue walled me. Stood in front of my main, buffed, then took his first shot. Epic fail.

There are a few things here that clearly explain this. 4-5 vs 1, PvP working different from PvE for level differences and people being just clueless. In PvP, character combat skills are fixed, so your actual level and your actual skill does not matter. This is to homogenize the level brackets. In PvE you would need lots of +hit rating to effectively fight a mob 10 levels ahead of you. Someone who stands in front of your caster group and starts attacking has no PvP experience. They should make a nuisance of themselves by running around you, forcing you to spread out or otherwise compensate for them being behind you.

Rest assured, that when you fight and equal number of characters in a battleground, their potential is not less than yours. The only question is if they are using it. =]

my first 70 kill was at the stadium in HF, caught a 70 pally trying to leave it... i 1 shotted him with CL.. was a great feeling:)

At 70 when i get bored farming these damn idols in mech i drop down to cosmowrech and wipe out raids that are gathering down at the summoning stone, least til enough show up to kill me:)

BTW.. why do people on their flying mounts think they can't be hit? i shot 3 outa the sky in a row last night, i think they wanted a closer look.. i love the way CL looks going straight up:)

I love how cl can hit mobs at are out of range from you :D , i kill a lot people doing that.

8 x LB to a mage
Mage: WOW that sham is going to kill me better get out of range (with 2% health)
Me: Fine then i'll target your buddy with cl which will jump off of him and hit friend to hit you
4 x cl to friends
Dead mage
Mage: WTF, STUPID BOT.... REPORTED

With the gear from the outlands my group has no problem taking out season 1 equipped alliance.

Shooting at 70's on flying mounts is becoming a new favorite past time.

mine was near one stadium as well. lock trying to gank...wont forget it anymore. the guy just rushed with pet and coil, fear, everything he had...and died. pops SS and died. came from the gy, trying to take advantage of me having mb, dies again.

with some vengefull pieces and merciless at the time, it was hilarious.

People hate me because when I enter a questing zone, every single mob is dead in about 3 minutes.

Sigh, we should have a higher moral authority to hold responsibility of our 12 feeter characters then the normal 2 feeter peeps. I will admit I do like feeling like the 18 ton gorilla people just want to avoid. Besides rogues that try to sap one and get a quick kill to dash off I am for the most part given wide birth by the horde but I do not attack horde unless they attack first. Even on pvp objectives my clone team is enough to have the sliders turn to the alliance side in Hellfire while 3-4 wide eyed horde just stare at me from outside of my spell distance. That is an attractive addition to boxing that I guess sorta gives me an elitism feel. I use to enjoy the power of tri boxing in my ealier days of WOW and coveted that not many could do what we do but I am glad this place has changed my view. I look forward to finding new people who wish to persue boxing because imo the most fun opponents is boxer vs boxer which I had happen to me last night fighting another box team.

I have actually left people alone. Being unflagged with a clear intention of attacking me (then takes the first shot unflagged) deserves no remorse. There are quite a number of occassions that I have seen flagged people that I don't even bother with.

My question is, why in the world are they not resisting as much as they should given their gear and more importantly, their level. Is this bugged?

Edit: Same thing happened again after my paly encounter. Shamy stood infront of me unflagged and then took his first shot while I stood there not able to attack him. I still killed him nevertheless.

Regarding the resists, my guess is that I don't think they'd resist 5x so some LB & CL is getting through.

If it's red it's dead :) The whole 5 on 1 thing is pretty weak of course we will destroy them. Fighting 5 vrs 10 though is more fun. I wipe 2 groups of them and get called a fat virgin basement lurker. In BGs it is really not contest people don't work together so I rarely die, but arenas you get decent people playing and it is actually difficult to drop all 5.

Its because fighting other players is different then fighting npc's. The differences of chances to not hit the target is less for players then monsters. Starting at 62 you should be able to get most of your spells through to your opponent thats level 70 unlike monsters which goes by the color system to where you will have an innate 50% chance of the monster resisting if its 4 levels or higher then you. I cannot find the exact formula but from my reckoning when they redid the resist system for pvp before Burning Crusade came out it was 50% resist or hit/miss rate for players who would con you white. Note that this is not counting the resistances of spell type but the basic innate resist chance. Any spell int he game has a 5% chance to be resisted outright even holy. But having 100 in fire resistance gives you a roughly 20% bonus to outright resisting any spell casted at you that has no penetration along with the 5% innate chance to resist thus why Warlocks are nasty opponents with felhunters if they are over your level. With 100 in fire resist your opponent has a 25% chance to resist your spell outright but has a 40% chance to have a partial resistance that is then based on a pusedo random generation. If everyone truly wants the specific formula I can try to find them again.

PvE Resist rates based on level differential

- 3: 99%
- 2: 98%
- 1: 97%
0: 96%
+ 1: 95%
+ 2: 94%
+ 3: 83%
+ 4: 72%
+ 5: 61%

PvP Resist rates based on level differential

- 3: 99%
- 2: 98%
- 1: 97%
0: 96%
+ 1: 95%
+ 2: 94%
+ 3: 87%
+ 4: 80%
+ 5: 73%
+ 6: 66%
+ 7: 59%
+ 8: 52%

These are base chances, not including +spell hit. Totem of Wrath, because it stacks, is WAY overpowered here. Having 5 of them makes an opponent 4 levels above you have the same resist as an even. 8o
