Dual-boxing newb

Hi people, I am just starting out on this little adventure of Dualboxing. Currently I am running with a rogue and a priest combo. I have noticed that you can Dualbox, with one full screen and have commands controlling your alt (instead of having to switch back to the alts screen to control them). Can anyone tell me how to accomplish this, or can it only be done if you have the same classes.

I have keyclone, and I am splitscreen with the maximizer. I do have to mouse to the alts(priest) side to activate its macro (target healing,smite stuff).

howdy Xyl41 and welcome to the forums!

2 classes are easy enough with the keys most of us have. just arrange the action bar keys such that the keys do the appropriate actions for both classes given the situation in which you'd use the key (... my english teach always warned me about run-ons...)

so you'd have 2 on sinister strike for the rogue, and 2 would be smite for the priest.

3 might be evade and it might be shield-rogue-macro for the priest

other functions where you want the priest to do something and the rogue to ignore it... just leave that key unbound for the rogue.

Hey Sawl, It's very simple as Rob just said all you have to do is put the attacks on the same keybind .. so that when you strike that key it does it for both of them, *the purpose of keyclone =P*

Its seems that I am still to new at this....I'll try to explain. I seems I have to have the mouse in the appropriate window(I am still in split screen with max) to activate the binding. .ie can only heal or activate macro when I have the cursor in priest window. Do I simply just have to no be using maximizer? Sorry for having to post again, I promise not to bug after this problem of mine gets figured out, lol.

are you starting both copies of wow using keyclone

when running wow if you press space bar do both of your characters jump?

Hi, no they don't. Only the window that is active has a player jump. I have to click the screen to activate the window.

Hi, yeah it seems to be working. it brings up my wow accounts okay. I'm just confused, lol. When I watch the vids of ppl boxing the have one main screen with the alts in view performing cast simultainiously. With mine it rather like I just ran to accounts in side-by-side window mode. :S

definitely sounds like your keyclone is not active. when you click the setup button do you see more then 3 options in the left hand list?

if so, are you on vista? vista requires keyclone to have permissions to send the keys properly... therefore you must start it by right-click/run-as-admin

Hi Rob, yes I do have more then 3 options. And I followed a set up from the thread on this site. the only keys that seem to respond to both are the direction arrows. However while I am at my main, and arrow right, it shows my alt facing me and running to their right. It does the same for all directions in a 'mirror' aspect.

ahhh.... so, SOME keys are passing.. but all the others are not. check.

go to keyclone/setup/do-not-pass and make sure to UNCHECK white-list
then hit ok

if you have white-list checked, only the keys in the list will be passed between the wows.

if it is unchecked, then the keys in the list will NOT be passed... that is the default for the do-not-pass list (otherwise known as a black list)

Sounds to me like you are clicking with your mouse and *not* pushing keys for the spells on your keyboard? (although that doesn't explain the jumping issue)

You can't click on buttons with your mouse on your UI. Mouse clicks are not conveyed to both (correct me if I'm wrong and there is a way to do this with a single mouse on a single PC).

You have to actually press keys on yoru keyboard - that's what keyclone does. Which is why when you press the arrow keys it works. Clicking on macros/spells, etc with your mouse will only work in the window in which you are clicking.

Time to become a button pusher - mouse clicker approach won't work from what I understand.

Hi, yeah I understand about that. I do use keystrokes for casts but as I am looking at both windows in side by side mode, I don't see the key 'taping' the hotkey on the alts box when I push it. Only untill I click on that window will it respond. From everything I ahve seen, ppl can make thir alts cast with the main, all by veiwing it through a main screen. I can't for some reason :wacko:

Have you checked that the whitelist is DISabled, as per KC's post above?

yeah it is....only keys on DNP are Directional arrows, slash and tab. No keys get passed period now....there was a point yesterday that While looking at my mains screen I could make my alt jump by pushing space(my main just stood there). As soon as I did that however the chat line (Say: )would open up and shift the cursor for everytime I hit the space bar..LOL

If I were in your position, I would start again from the beginning.

Delete (or rename) the Keyclone folder completely, download it again from the link on this site, and then just run it with NO changes at all.

Run keyclone and don't change any of the options at all.
Run WoW1 manually.
Run WoW2 manually.

See if all the keys are passed. If they are, then it's one of the configuration steps that's messed it up, and I reckon that's what you'll find.

haha, thanks I agree. But I am on the cusp. SO I had it working this morning. My macro on my main window was making my priest cast. I was jumping with both, hitting the key once (loving it). All of a sudden the Chatline pops up...normally when you don't want to say anything you just hit enter (did that)....but then it cycles to my alts window, hit it on my alts window and now back to the mains...lol HELP

Aha! Sounds like you've pretty much solved the original problem then. Great :)

What you're talking about now is a common problem - it's easy for your drones and main to get out of sync with each other like that.

Some people unbind / DNP the ENTER and slash keys, but I find that simply hitting F1 (default binding, target self) and then ESCape is the easiest "reset".

If you're mid-fight, you can re-acquire your last hostile target with G (default binding).

Try that and see how you get on.

Alternatively, disable broadcasting while you sort it out - that's an option when you only have two characters to worry about :)
