I plan on gifting levels to a couple paladins and then running them through instances to get them up to 70. My end goal for these toons is to use them to AOE grind/boost. I was looking through the Blacksmithing BoE stuff for tanking. What do you guys think about the following stuff. I don't really want to spend much time doing rep
grinds for these toons so I think BoE blacksmithing stuff would be the best. Luckily I am pretty good friends with a couple Main Tanks who have all of the blacksmithing patterns

What kind of gear do you need to boost toons through Stratholme?

Belt of the Guardian
Nether Vortex (2), Hardened Adamantite Bar (5), Primal Water (10), Primal Earth (5)

Khorium Boots
Khorium Bar (4), Primal Water (3), Primal Mana (3)

Gauntlets of the Iron Tower

Bracers of the Green Fortress

Vindicator's Hauberk ('http://www.wowwiki.com/Vindicator%27s_Hauberk') from Aldor rep is a nice start
Crystalforged Sword ('http://thottbot.com/i32660') is hard to beat
Strength of the Untamed ('http://www.wowwiki.com/Strength_of_the_Untamed') isn't the best, but easy enough to get, neck
Cloak of Eternity ('http://thottbot.com/i24253') is a pro tanking back
Merciless Shield ('http://www.wowhead.com/?item=32045') wall is ok, I prefer the Nethergard one but you have to have an epic flyer to get it
Iron Band of the Unbreakable ('http://www.wowhead.com/?item=27436') is very easy to get, and decent
In my humble opinion Dabiri's Enigma ('http://www.wowhead.com/?item=30300') and Figurine of the Colossus ('http://www.wowhead.com/?item=27529') are excellent choices for boosting. Dabriri's Enigma is stupid easy to get, the Figurine is a bit tougher :/

Shield - Sporeggar's Shield. Once you get the rep.. 10x mushrooms takes 2 minutes to collect for the shield. It's not unique, so carry a few of them, throw fel iron shield spikes on 'em, and block away. The rep grind isn't too bad.. I cashed in bog lord tendrils as far as I could, grinding more for an hour or two, did the few quests for rep, then ran UB two times for the shrubbery quest and a 2nd turn-in of sanguine hibiscus.

If you're looking to AoE boost other toons with these guys, you want high damage return (shield with stats like Sporeggar's Shield, plus shield spikes), high block rating (to return more damage), and high block value - AoE boosting involves taking a TON of small hits, so high block value means you'll take very little damage from many of these hits. Don't neglect high spell damage - consecration dishing out 150-250 dps per tick is slick when you've got 40 mobs on you. Bring lots of water to refill that mana after a couple pulls - a few consecrations and you're OOM, but you deal a ton of damage with it.

Also, I'd avoid using epics to save money on repair bills. Stick to good blues with + shield block rating, +shield block value, +spell damage, +defense.

Edit:
Trinket1 - Figurine of the Colossus. Keep those blocks up to dish out the damage and reduce incoming damage.
Trinket2 - Darkmoon Deck: Vengeance. Dish out more holy damage, and you don't even have to block for it to proc. +51 stamina is a plus. On most servers, you can buy all cards for around 1.5k-2.5k gold total. Roughly 10 damage returned per hit received.

The Dungeon 3 Righteous set has a good set bonus: (2) Set: Your Consecration ability costs 15% less mana.

The shoulders are hotness pre-raid. In fact, it was one of my favorite sets. It's an all around good set and I actually had fun farming it (never did get the legs though).

But get your block rating and block value as high as you can. When I was doing the Zolo trick, I took ZERO damage because my block value was so high.

Here is a link of all plate items with either block rating or block value
http://www.wowhead.com/?items=4.4&filter=cr=43:44;crs=1:1;crv=0:0;ma=1

Go down the list and go after the ones you think you will be able to obtain.

As far as spell damage; yea, it' will help your dps, but your first priority is to survive the 2 thousand low level mobs beating on you.

So I have a warrior I used to raid with and I threw together a shield block set for him. I think he sits around a 35-40% block should I just try to recreate alot of this stuff from him.

Purchase on the AH? About as easy as it gets. I see them available all the time.

Good call - totally forgot about this set, and yes, the consecration mana saved is huge.

And hard to get?It has become hard to get on my server, as no one seems to be crafting it atm. When I do see it it's 300g :( Any tank worth his salt needs to be revered with Keepers of Time (which is easy to do). If you do that get the Consortium Blade if you can't find the CFS.
