OK well im allinace shaman on Thaurissan (funkmaster) and have a few things to report, but 1st take this into consideration. the ration is 4-1 on our server an the agro of 5 shammans is amazing.
1) Tanaris - got camped by 17 horde in Gadget, every time i rezed i died 7 of them were lev 70
2) Pwned by 70s - This has happened countless dozzens of times
As I get close to magic 58 (should be today) I find it really discouraging to continue on pvp server. I need heaps of geat from outlands and quests and getting raped every 5 feet seems to be pointless to say the least. If it is not one 70 it is another lev 70 and I feer in outlands it will take weeks to make just one level or get any sort of quest gear. Should I just pack it up and hit a Oceanic PVE server?
I say this not only for the obvious I can quest but also in the xpac I want to be able to experience all the quests and little things that come along with it. Also If I want world pvp aka gankfest, I can just head over to lake wintersgrasp?
This is why I've always been and always be pve server. Yeah there's been plenty of times I just wanna cream the crap out of an ali, but oh well, I'd rather not get camped by a few degenerates who made it to 70 and has nothing better to do than ruin my night.
People don't respect you as much on the forums and such, (lol carebear) but fuck it, I don't need a video game to prove how "hardcore" I am. I let my tattoos and handlebar mustache do that for me.

LOL there is no PvP on the PvP servers, there is only ganking.
I rolled on a PvE server for a reason, if I want to PvP I will go hit a battlegrounds, if I want to level I don't want to have to worry about gankers and greifers out just to annoy other people.

thaurissan has always been bad, but now the pop is ridiculous, horde are too many, you would find it much easier on jubei, or even barth, im on juebi alliance, 5 shammies, and the most i got "ganked" for was about 40 mins at cenarion expedition by 3 70s and 2 62s, but i still got away, and dropped them enough times too.
This is why i went PVE. I can log on and go afk for 2 hours in the same spot anywhere and not be worried about dieing. Too much.
Im jut hoping Lake Wintergrasp turns out to actually be ok. If so i can imagine going there to get my pvp fix instead of a battleground.

I never liked PvP servers. I occasionally like to PvP but then I enter a BG or arena where the chances are even and I am not fighting 3 mobs when getting attacked by the opposing faction. Roll or transfer to PvE and PvP when you like and are prepared for it.

So I went to xfer my shammy team x5 and found it way too depressing to pay 125 USD due to the fact i rolled on the "wrong" server type. Only reason why i did this was bc my main was there and bumped me 1,000 gold. Hesitant to pull the trigger though I know in the long run id appreciate not having to faces hours of frustration for many months to come

Logout for a 10minutes.. go get a drink.. come back when they're gone. It's what i do. You'll also benefit from trying to stick to instances as much as you can.. Since you don't get ganked in there.
Just suck it up and do the grind, when you get to 70 it'll be a complete change of story... You'll be the 1 ganking all of them :)
Probably also depends on the server. I'm on a low population pvp server and I have to put in effort to actually find someone of the opposite faction.

I am so glad that my home server is actually considered the most well balanced horde/allaince server of all the pvp servers. According to the wowstats on prime time for Emerald Dream the count is around 12k horde 11k Alliance. When I am attacked and mass camped I just pull alliance together to stomp em back. Great fun Great fun. But if you can stick to instancing then it should alleviate alot of the problems. Ive been doing nothing but almost pure instancing since 55.

It's not really that hard to avoid being camped. I've played on several PVP servers and I've yet to find a group of campers with the patience to wait more than about 20 minutes, especially if I don't come back the first time. I've always refused to let a bunch of punks waste my time, and when I run to my corpse if I can see them standing around, I just go do something else for 30 minutes and they are almost always gone when I come back. If it gets really bad (and it almost never does) I spirit rez and hearth and quest somewhere else. In two years on PVP servers there have been very few instances where the ganking was bad enough to really prevent me from doing what I wanted.
Some servers are worse than others. If there are more of the other faction, or a lot of little kids on the server, it will probably be worse. However if you go with a server where your faction dominates, at 70 you may have trouble finding good world pvp because there aren't enough enemy players.

Well from playing on 4 different pvp servers in my wow life I have had only 2 major spots that gave me problems. Eastern Plaguelands and Cenarion Refuge. I do not know who in the right mind made it so if you have max faction in Cenarion Refuge being given the ability to attack other people at will to only have guards attack if they defend themselves. Besides those two spots I have never been camped before. Just do as the above guy suggests and wait them out. Gankers have little patience and after the initial high rush of ganking they will find other prey to stalk. Forgot to mention Nagrand. It is the worst ganking spot in the entire game from the Blood Ring to the Elemental Plateau. People nag about those two spots more then anywhere on the Emerald Dream forums constantly being a battle between alliance and horde for control.

To the OP:
It always varies per server. When I tried Horde I rolled on Mal’Ganis. A friend and I did. Took over a month to get from 58 to 60. Because EPL, WPL, Creator, etc all camped looking for horde to camp and kill, was awful. Due to the times I played I could never find groups. So spent most of my time hiding in caves and just grinding. You on the other hand can do instances.
The server I’m on now is starting to get pretty bad. Last night was the first time in a long time I didn’t get harassed in some way. Which was nice. I’ve often thought, man. I should give PVE servers a try. I think to myself I’m just getting tired of this and would rather just do my own thing and not be bothered. I’ve done this since release and I’m just kind of burnt out on the whole thing.
Then I realize there would be Gnomes skipping around gleefully and there would be nothing I could do about it. If I had to choose between the two I pick have the option of punting that gnome! Really I think if I did make the move I would be unhappy. The sense of danger would be removed and the grind would be just that. Last night I finished a few quests and got some outland gear. That in its self is an accomplishment because of the server I’m on. Put me on a PVE and that wouldn’t really hold much wealth.
What I’m trying to say is, you can appreciate things more sometimes on a PVP server. That and when the Xpac comes out you’ll be ready, most will be solo. You won’t. the tables will be even and at the very least you can take a truckload down with you.
I really look forward to the xpac, not for its new content (although that will be fun) but for all the people that will have to deal with me. No one will be questing in MY quest area. Like last night killing those darn Terror mobs in Hellfire, I had 2 alliance beat feet out of there from the sight of me; one took a volley for him to get his ass in gear and leave.

I know what you're talking about.
I've been a fairly pvp oriented person throughout my mmo life, but finally, I just got sick of the grief.
I'm all about the guy who sneaks up on me, kills me, salutes, and goes about his way (which is how I play on a pvp server). However, that's not what pvp servers are mostly populated with anymore, it seems. Rather, they are chock full of griefing, lifeless losers who have to try and compensate for their inadequacies by griefing people for HOURS on end (yeah, generalizations ftw). Finally, I just got sick of not being able to do what I wanted to do because I was always trying to fend off some moron who's perfectly content spending his time trying to make me miserable until the break of dawn.
As a postnote, I've been playing on pve servers for a while now (and have never regretted the move, btw). When I recently got a beta invite, I decided to xfer to pvp just to relive the old days a little. The first night I'm out collecting my 20 bear asses, some loser ret paladin exploiting the busted SoC crap 2 shots me (keep in mind, I'm in nearly full pvp gear with 350 resilience and his SoC crits me for almost 9k). OK, fine, whatever, I res up and am on the defensive a little bit more. Sure enough, as the night goes on, this tard keeps trying to kill me and everybody else trying to quest. Of course, he skulks around out in the periphery waiting for people who are 1/2 dead fighting a mob before he sacks up enough to unload his bullshit bug on you, because that's how his ilk "rolls, dog." Fucking loser. At least I can report that the last time we met it was him biting dirt. And while yes, that was very gratifying, it wasn't worth the 2 hours of crap before it.
The reason I bring it up is, one hour into this pvp server and I was totally reminded of why I moved.

I'm of the opersite mind at the moment. I've always played on a PVE server and recently I've been considering rolling on a PVP server just to expierence life "looking over your shoulder". I've never had the mis/fortune of fighting for my life while attempting to do 1 quest over the space a days.

i personally can't stand pve servers, there is a edge to a game when you can attacdk or be attacked:)
BTW it really depends on server... on maelstrom i got ganked a ton leveling way back.. on dark iron.. a total of 4 times upto lvl 65...
When I first rolled on WoW, I played alliance on Alleria (PVE server). My friend and I decided to reroll on Mug'Thol Horde, which is PVP. I loved it.
Sure, when I was leveling, I probably wasted 8 hours doing corpse runs because of griefers... but the damage you can do, or the feeling of killing someone who is a couple levels higher than you when they try to gank you is great. There weren't many mass gankers except in STV (the ganking there SUCKED). I remember a level 40 something ganking my group of 5 when we were trying to run blackfathom deeps, and when we killed him ot was great.
Also, from a progression standpoint, I'd stay on a PVP server. While you might expect PVE servers to have... better PVE progression... that often is not the case. Having the option to do world PVP must appeal to high end raiders. If you ever plan on raiding (with one toon, many toons, doesn't matter) PVP is looking like its the way to go.

Make a second/ third multibox team.
If I get camped on my 5 taurenshammies, then i switch to the 5 dwarf huntards. If they get camped, then I switch back to the taurens, or login the 4 undead lox/ 1 mage.
Being able to go to 3 different servers (3 different time zones too) really helps out when the ganking is rampant.

Transfer over to Mag - we would NEVER let shit like this happen to one of our guildies. Anyone that tried would be stomped into the ground and camped until they spirit rez or log.
No matter how many they bring, we bring more...We roll deep baby! :P

I was on thaurissan, but a hordie (level 60 4sham/paly team) and on the pvp server I was getting way to much attention. I made it to 60, but have rerolled on Nagrand Oceanic PVE (hordie again) and now have a mage team at 46.
The problem with the pvp server is that people still find multiboxers interesting. Soon as you get spotted, you can almost guarantee there will be a drove of 70s otw to check you out. Ofcourse they have to see how good you are, so all the ganking starts. it was annoying the hell out of me. I will move my sham/pal team over when they are egilible for transfer again and continue on the pve server.
Now on nagrand I have joined a small dualboxing guild with about 4 active players 15-20 chars :P

I rolled Dragonmaw PVP from the beginning, and am sticking with it because of the gold boost my alts can give me, as well as the best ping times I'm able to find (300-400 average). I've been running my RAF mages (lvl 51 in 27 hours) with about 2 hours lost so far to corpse running in STV and Tanaris. What I am finding is that dual boxing makes you are target for every wanna-be arena team in the making, and most of the ganking has been a pair of allys (dps + healer) that have teamed up and are trekking around simply to make my life miserable. The only up-side to this is the sheer amount of aoe and burst dps I cn do as two fire mages, even straight out of rez :D when they are sitting around trying to heal and mana up.
The one thing I am noticing being hit by lvl 70s is they are coming by to see if I am dual-boxing, and then they are painstakinly taking out only ONE of my toons :cursing: . I don't know exactly why, but this is more annoying than them just nuking my whole team.

I can't imagine multiboxing with that kind of latency

I skipped alot of the replies so this very well could have been suggested, but when you get to outland initially, id suggest focusing on the quests that immensly upgrade your gear then get out of outlands and back into the plaguelands, do all the quests humanly possible there until 60+ imo then begin running stratholme, you'll get some good money, especially if ur an enchanter/tailor decent experience also, the quests give a nice amount to.
After this you are gonna wanna hit ramparts anbd hit it hard, do your best to have most of your gear replaced already by the time you start with outlands gear, if possible. Ramparts, with some practice, is easy to farm, Also work on farming first boss of BF, or attempt entire thing if you are feeling adventurous at a lower level(it can be frustrating at 2nd boss) i get about 8% of a lvl each first boss run and am working on getting each toon the spelldmg mace from him have 3/5 right now, and almost gained a full lvl doing it, saving alot of quests.
The final boss of ramparts is a pain, the trick is to semi glitch it by pulling the 2 mobs that start the boss event back as far as humanly possible in order for the rider to not chase you as 5x shammies, set up groundings near the beginning of the bridge waste the 2, and the rider stays in the centre of the platform infront. Now you are going to want to slowly progress forward not getting out o range of grounding totems(nazan shoots fire balls every 3-4 seconds grounding absorbs these, they will put some serious hurt on u if u forget this). You can glitch it up in order to atually begin your assault on nazan in the air, he will land at approx. 20% health now u need to nuke him down then possibly get rdy to chain heal your ass off after hes dead as he may have hit you with his aoe which burns like a bitch(wiped me first time but ahnked and killed rider ftw). Rider is cake. GL, you can farm these for quite a bit with little trouble.
Sidenote: Stratholme pulls take a little getting used to, without a shield the hits hurt pretty good but once you are used to the pulls they become easy. Baron runs are fun and relatively easy. Scholomance can be fun but lots of spell dmg immune mobs at certain points. I had no weapon skill :( took me 20 minutes to kill 2 non elites but got my weapon skill up, windfury weapon helps. The basement sucks tons of spell immunes, but once your weapon skill is up its doable, just not worth the experience, but lets you finish the quest that gets you closer to summoning the gargoyle boss :D.
I never did DM but heard its really fun.
