Best place to do it is right before the ship zones out. The person will have to swim pretty far to get back to the boat. The other good thing is that if it is in deep water then the toon will die.

Anyone remember when the "Unstoppable Force" PvP reward had knockback?

In both games you have the option to kill him sure its indeed hard when he comes in on a flying mount but in AoC you could kill the guy who did it. The guy in AoC who did it could might aswell just kill then with a singel blow.
