After three years of looking my wife and I think we have found the right house for us. We are first time buyers, just rented up to this point. We are both really excited. I lived in Amish country my whole life. I’ve enjoyed renting close to town around town for the convince. It’s been an experience but ultimately if I’m going to buy something it has to be on a wooded lot. It’s a 20min drive for both of us to work from here. Little further then we wanted but this is as good as it gets. The place is perfectly sound. I would like to replace the garage door to something a bit more current. Mostly to help keep moisture out since I’ll be putting my El Camino and Bike in there.

If we get this place it’s a 3 bedroom like we wanted. We have no kids thus we both get our own “play” room. I will finally have a room to deck out with computer hobby. I’m open to suggestions from you guys on what kind of desk setup I should do. Custom build is what I’ll most likely be doing. Sadly they did not post pictures of the computer room on the site. I’ll let you guys know the status. I’ll post pics of the bare computer room and hopefully you can suggest something.

The Dadster approves had the realtor take us thru on Saturday to get his input. Before the bid is sent, they are finishing up an old easement arrangement. The house shares a road, need the deeds updated to state both houses are to contribute evenly for repairs etc, just a precaution.
The computer room has is a walk in closet. I could put the machines back there, and then just drill a hole for the cables in to the closet area making it nice and clean. However the closet is very narrow, so to reboot or do anything back there would be a pain in the rear. Not sure how to use that space yet. By putting them back there it would keep the heat down considerable. However not having the boxes on display may take away from its pimpness XD.

Over 2000 square foot farm house 1.5 acres. 3 Bed, 2 baths. Really high school taxes XD
I haven’t mowed a lawn in 7 years. going to need a riding mower for this guy. She already told me it's my job lol.

Another thing when buying a house in a setting like this in this area, most do not have high speed internet. This has both cable and Fiber. We've liked a few houses but turned them down because of the internet factor.

Any rate here’s the place

Looks nice. I don't like how the stove is separated though, I'd rather have it next to the sink.

Even if you tuck the computers away, the heat has to go somewhere. Either into the room (to be conditioned) or outside (cheaper but you do lose conditioned air as it has to come from somewhere).

Looks nice. I don't like how the stove is separated though, I'd rather have it next to the sink.Same here, It is kinda odd. I think a stove used to be on the side. This one is gas, somehow I think they had no choice but to put it there because of the gas line (guessing).

I don't think i'll be required to pipe the heat outside, a single window unit AC should do the trick.

If and when this deal goes down, think you may have some time too take a look at some pics and figure out how to "Pimp my computer room". We’ve always had similar tastes when it comes to nerd rage, I’d really appreciate your input when the times comes

Looks great Bradster congratz!

House buying is not simple and have to make sure you know what your getting into and that both you and your family will like the place. Since your married I am sure the wife approved or else you would not be getting it lol.

Have fun in your new place, set up your wow and 5 box!

Post some picks of your set up once you get it in there.

I would be happy to Brad. I just finished running 6x 20 amp lines and all new cat 6 wiring to my new mancave. 600 sq ft just for my new setup..... should be... pretty impressive. It was the only unfinished space in the house and made it so much easier to run all of the wiring. Just let me know your budget and I would be happy to give some suggestions.

well speaking of sound. The first thing I wanted to do is test it, see how loud I can go before you can hear it in the living room and master bedroom. Hopefully it shouldn’t be a problem. If I’m unhappy with the results I may end up gutting the room install particle board around the entire room then drywall it again. It’s Wood Paneling right now. Between that and the dry wall it would be a mess. Whatever it takes so I can crank it up in there at any hour of the night.

Tired of wearing headphones. A supreme surround sound with big ass sub woofer is going to be in this room one way or another!

Just remember that low frequencies (aka Bass) tend to penetrate through a lot of material and it is very difficult to block it effectively. High frequencies are easily blocked by inexpensive materials such as fiberglass and gypsum although they do sell sound deadening material that works fairly well for higher frequencies if you don't have physical space to use to insulate with.

Wish I had bought my house a bit further out from town and had trees other then Eastern Birch on the perimeter. Some kind of disease came through a few years back and killed every one. Looks like you have lots of space from neighbors which is always nice. With that much land though, you are either going to need a riding mower, or a 12 year old (I have both..lol), or a few goats. Oh, and I feel your pain on the school taxes. We have just hit $6,800 and change last year here, and its going to go up again this year. Gah.. I need to get out of New York State. It got so bad, that they just disbanded our local police department, and have arranged a patrol deal with the county sheriffs department to try to get the over all tax rate down a bit. I'm getting off topic no though.. any who.. Very nice house.

OT: if i was the one getting the house, i would get a huge friggin' pool with like a 16-person jacuzzi :) don't listen to me though, cause i'm only 15 :(

Congratulations on the new house! Thanks but it's not mine yet.

Still going back and forth on the bidding.

There’s the home inspection, septic, well, mold, radon, termite tests. After all those provided it all passes then it’s just a matter of the health inspector to come in and approve. If not then more negotiations start, either they have to fix it or knock down the price. If they don't fix it, we have too (not allowed to move in yet), then the inspector comes out again to approve it. Then we can.

This is really a learning experience, lots and lots of paper work and stuff to do. One thing I have to sign is 21 pages long, that has to be gone over soon as an example. Very Stressful!

I recently called around wondering how much movers cost. I’ve always just moved everything myself or helped friends. I really hate moving. Turns out the cost for 4 guys and a truck is about $300 plus gas. We are highly considering going this route. I’d move the computer stuff and her drum set, outside of that they take care of everything. Drive it there and place, then place it where you want it. For $150 from both of us, sounds appealing compared to three weeks of back pain

Lot of stuff is going on, been on the phone all day, ha was just on the phone with the realtor just now. This is finally starting to hit me now the reality of it all. Both exciting and nerve wrecking at the same time. This is a major change. :)

$150 for movers? Damn. Go for it. Cost me a ton more than that. What is up with the health inspector inspecting? It is your house - do the radon / mold / septic / termite / etc but why would a health inspector come to inspect it? That's just strange.

When you do the well inspection, they generally don't do a blow down test - they just write what the well was producing when it was dug. Which is normally less than what it is producing now. If it is under 2 or 3 gpm, I would be a bit concerned. There is no legal requirement for gpm flow rate as far as I know.

Gratz on being a 'nearly' home-owner Brad

Hope it all works out for you and the missus

Huge house - make a great guild hall - ya even got space for a vendor out the front!

Make sure you get it's /loc installed on the flight path or at least install a portal in one of the rooms or no-one will ever be able to find it

Remember, houses are similar to how they are in wow. You can't mount your lawnmower indoors, but there is a delay between when you ride one into your house and when it stops working.

Update:

Think things are looking good, around 6pm (I’m taking a long lunch, I work 2nd shift) have to meet up with the realtor and sign off on the buyer agreement and some other misc stuff. Looks like I may know the answer by the end of the week.

Grats man! That's fantastic.

I just spent 3 hours tonight with my wife talking to a builder a couple miles away from our apartment. Kinda overwhelming. Sure is! I've totally been stressed out. It was funny I was so stressed out I didn't remember I had off on Monday for the holiday. I'm on my way to work thinking, man things are moving too fast. I really need more time. I pull in to work and it’s a deserted parking lot. At that point I realized I had off. So I rushed home and my wife only worked a half day so we started sorting, boxing and tossing stuff out. It really helped. I'm so freaking sore and there’s still a lot to do.
Going to take down the computer stuff this weekend. Going to leave my main machine and 1 monitor however. I'll play my 70 warrior or something and gank people on the island. Kinda sucks my movie is getting pretty close to done too. One good weekend of content is all I would need to finish it, hopfully I get lucky this weekend and capture enough before I pack it all up.

I've been running around like crazy and faxing. This Friday I have drive up to the house and be there all day and wait for the inspectors show up and get the final reports and paperwork from them. Once that’s over I zoom over to the realtor. Then it’s right back home to continue to box things up. Have to be finished by the 15th. I figure the afternoon is when we sign and get the keys. Well head over there that night and figure out where to put stuff then move the next day.

Work recently decided to implement a new policy. A two month advance notice for vacation (what a crock!). I gave a Four week notice, as soon as possible. So now I’m doing a little fighting with that since I've requested this prior to the new change. We want to paint so we have to bust our ass in a single week off to make all this happen. The current paint is fine it’s just we want different colors.

The amount of stress is getting to me lol. My eye lids are flicking every day and my neck is extremely tense I can’t wait until this is over. 13 more days of hell left and counting.

So the deal fell through and I won’t be getting this house. That’s the thing with houses it can happen like that. Really sucks since I spent 1k on tests and inspections and packed up my entire apartment and everything.

Last month on the 18th a Septic check was done by the seller. After looking at the documents, to me it didn’t look very official and there was some question about the septic system. In the mean time going on the owner’s word we started packing, but I fully intended to have it checked again, and that’s when it got weird. They seemed a little annoyed I wanted it checked since I was already done, like I said something just didn’t feel right.

So the last test was performed late, which was the septic I paid for a ton of tests let me tell ya. He took one look at that system and said “I don’t know who you called to test this system before, but clearly they didn’t check everything and see this”. There’s sludge 14” from the surface, won’t be long before its free flowing across the yard.
Which point today I counter offered of 25k less or fix it. They didn’t want to do nether so that’s the end of the deal. No house for me this time :(

Sorry to hear that Brad. I guess it just wasn't ment to be with that house but hopefully theres a better one around the corner with lan prewired into the walls, a cooled server room with a raised floor, ex-multiboxer's multibosing room complete with mounts and cage for PCs..*drifts off into lalaland*.err...were was I..ah yes, you'll find a more suited better house before you know it :) best of luck!

I bet the owner is gonna try to scam someone else with that house X(
