I noticed today that Fry's has a Q9450 and a DP35DPM for $379, seems like a good deal if the chip is retail, saves around $50 off the online price?

The board is a little dated, but from what I know the P35 based boards are pretty solid and reliable. I didn't see any features absent that I'd need. The CPU is quad core and 12MB of cache, 45nm... my only reservation is that it is a 2.6ghz part, and the 3.0ghz is not that much more expensive (like 200$?). I could probably overclock it and get more speed but I'd prefer a stable machine.

But what do you guys think, anyone have this board/chip combo?

The processor is great, but the combo is not that hot. In fact, I can't rationalize buying that mobo, even for $50

You can do a lot better for not that much more money.
