Hello I am wondering what would be faster for 2 mages and lvling? If i lvl 1 by 1 or if i duel-box them together? Place them in party would give me half XP and have to kill 2x as much. If duel boxing is faster please tell me how and why.

Thanks Meathead.

You can get 1 single guy to 70 faster solo than dualboxing.

Having said that, you can dualbox 2 to 70 faster than leveling 2 solo.

so it just depends on what your goals are.

Leveling while dualboxing is Not faster but you get 2 for that little extra time.

Hope this made sense.

Edit:
As to the How & why,,, Kill Quests are faster,, 1 for 1 drop rate collection quests are faster. Bosses & elites are do-able with dualboxing that you might not be able to do alone solo.

Its just not faster than leveling 1 guy (For me it was about 1.5 times the overall rate)

You get slightly more than half the exp per kill, but kill almost twice as fast. This makes quests that involve killing monsters go faster, and leaves other quests at the same speed. It is faster leveling two together than separately, but as said, it is probably faster leveling one solo if you only want one(which the op doesn't, but others viewing this might).

Note that looting quests (like kill/loot 10 troll ears) will be faster leveling together since if you level them separately you are still doing the gathering quest twice(bring 10 troll ears with two mages at a time for 20, or bring 10 troll ears with one mage, then tomorrow bring 10 troll ears with the other mage).

Something that I'm not sure about is leveling one mage by itself, then using that one to power level the other one. I'm guessing this isn't faster for two, but for someone leveling 5 it might be.

For me dual boxing helps me do quests I normally can't solo. Having a priestbot with me helps me kill things faster too, with my pally. So in a way it is faster. But not really on farming quests, on kill quest yes it's faster.

For me it's worth it because I solo more then bother looking for people to team up for a certain quest. Having said that, I don't think I can ever go back to solo without a priestbot. I need the buffs and heals hehe.. No more, /yell anyone need the blah blah kill blah blah quest???

The HUGE thing I've noticed about dualboxing is that I have nearly zero downtime.

With two mages the paladin was all but useless until I started doing AE Grinding. With the 4 warlock + priest group I toyed with I was doing level 9's at level 5 without breaking for mana or health. Just 5xnuke, repeat, move on.

Oh, and at level 5 I hadn't trained yet... so I was still slinging level 1 spells. Once I trained it was even more broken.

I'll second that. I'm using two warlocks right now, and right now most of the time I'm moving on to my next target before the 1st one is even dead. I'm still low level though, so I know that will change, but still, it's pretty sweet.

If I get a 2nd monitor I'll plan to start up a priest for healing, then it will really be on.

Consider the following two scenarios:

1) One fire mage. Attack sequence is Pyroblast, fireball, fireblast, frost nova, open the range, scorch/wand/fireball until dead.

2) Two fire mages. Attack sequence is /assist Pyroblast, fireball, maybe fireblast, loot, NEXT!

The biggest difference you'll have is not having to open range because the mob will die about time it gets to you. Saving that extra time is where the kill speeds and mana savings come into play. Now, if you consider the same solo-vs-duo arrangement when pulling packs of mobs, being able to sheep 2 of a 3+ mob pack means you take a LOT less damage and can double your effective capabilities easily.

Two at once is most definitely better than doing them one at a time, especially if you will be mostly questing to level.

duel-box

Meathead, do you play a rouge? Or maybe an enchancement shaman? ;)

Just kidding. It's not like the correct spelling "dual-box" isn't right there on the top of every website page... I mean... ;)
