View Full Version : Multicasting a Nostromo n52?

Before I make my last purchasing decicions for my hardware boxing scheme, I'd rather ask than do something silly.

Has anyone here been able to multicast a Nostromo n52? I ask because it's my preferred controller and I'd like to not have to learn xKeys (not to disparage xKeys, or anything). I have considered the Vetra 4-port USB multicaster, but it seems to be designed for a single device, either a keyboard or a mouse based on the information I've found online, especially in threads on these boards. I believe it was mentioned that things like the G15 give the vetra products problems. The n52 is really two devices in one, a keyboard and a mousewheel. It would be tempting to just disable the mousewheel device in the operating systems, but that doesn't change the fact that the vetra products may not recognize the device at all.

Any ideas? Or should I just look into xKeys to control my alts?

Thanks.

i use a N52te and Xkeys Pro. Both work perfectly fine for what i need. Keyclone works based on key pressed, not the hardwear that send the keystroke.

I'm not asking about Keyclone; I don't use it. I'm asking about the Vetra USB multicaster's ability to understand the device(s) that is(are) connected to it.

And on a related note, I'm thinking about going the Vetra + X-Keys Pro route now that I've thought about it really hard. My main hangup now is that I need to make sure I have desk space for the X-Keys and the documentation says it's 7" x 4.25" (which seems wrong). Anyone have any input? Perhaps I'll look into people's screenshots and see for myself.

The specs from the X-Keys pdf is definately incorrect. Here is a post with pics that show it in relation to other pc equipment and it definately isn't 7" x 4".

I ordered the Vetra PS/2 multicaster today. While on the phone, I asked about the USB version being able to handle the N52. Apparently, I was actually speaking with an engineer, and he was able to tell me that initial tests with the N52 were decent, but they were unable to finish the battery of diagnostics. They are however planning to support a large range of such USB devices when they are able to do full testing on them.

Good news for us all, I think.

FYI... It looks like the real dimensions on the XKeys Pro are 9x8x1 according to the product link on amazon. That would appear to be correct.
