View Full Version : Questions and Thoughts from a New Multiboxer

I just started multiboxing yesterday, the idea of it has always intrigued me and now that I've leveled 2 characters past 60 (70 priest and 63 warrior), I wanted to try something a little more challenging and less repetitive. With the introduction of the RaF system, and the temptation of the 3x XP, I decided to take the leap. As of yesterday, I got keyclone working, signed up for a 2nd account, and jumped in. (After reading guides on this site for a while first.) While I do have two PC's I can use, I read that it's better/easier to run them all on one PC, so I'm doing that. I tried a mage/warlock combo first, and while basically 2-shotting everything was fun, I decided to change to a different team that could heal. So after getting the mage/warlock team to about lvl 6, I logged out and created a Druid/Shaman team. Why? Because I want a healer on my new server (Stormreaver) and I have always wanted a high level druid, mainly for dailies and such since it is a pvp server. Now I realize that teams of 4 and 5 may be more useful, but I have no desire to have multiple characters of the same class at high level at this point and time, and I can't justify spending more than $30 a month on WoW accounts, haha.

So far the Druid/Shaman have been working out well, they are both around level 13 now (triple XP ftw!). I use the druid as the main and the shaman as the support healer/dps. Basically I am always in bear form at this point (will change to cat later) and the shaman just stands back and heals me and casts lightning bolt/* shock. My setup is pretty much just a couple of macro's on the shaman that make him assist me before casting each spell, and the 1-6 keys are my shaman and the 6-0 keys are my druid. It's been working out pretty well and I have really been enjoying it. But does anyone have any tips on how to make my gameplay more streamlined and "less switch back and forth between screens?" Don't get me wrong, I have macro's set up for the attacks and heals to where I can control all that from one screen, but while questing I am constantly having to switch back and forth between them to accept/turn-in quests and pick up loot and quest items, which gets pretty annoying. As far as the 1-5 and 6-0 setup, I realize that it's not going to work for long as I am getting more and more spells. What kind of control setup do you all use? And the second main complaint I have is that my characters seem to be constantly undergeared since they are leveling so fast. Should I feed them greens from the AH supplied by my main? What do you all do?

So, any tips on how to improve from here? While I am a complete noob at this, I do feel I have a pretty good grasp on at least the basics of it.

EDIT: Just thought of another question. As far as heal macro's, what do you all do? As of right now I have one heal macro set up to heal my main, and another set up for the shaman to heal himself. I realize this isn't ideal, but /assist didn't seem to work when targeting a friendly target.

There is discussion on I think the macro forums about a way to make your other screen accept quests and turn in quests without switching, but personally I just keep the main screen windowed in a very big window (90% of the screen at least) and the other window clickable in the space that's left. I click over to the other window and loot and turn things in like that. It's not much more time consuming at all. You can also have an auto-accept macro for trades and quests so that you can share quests with him and have him accept without switching.

That's pretty much what I do as well. I loot by scrolling over to the other screen and even do some gathering quest. It doesn't turn out to be all that bad on high drop rates. However, I don't even attempt low drop rate quest.

I have a macro that auto accepts when I share quest or invite to group. I invite my slaves and hit the keybind. I don't really think there is anything to make you switch back less. I do it every time I play even for decursing. If there is... I'd like to know as well.

Also, I have been buying *some* greens from the auction house along with quest rewards, drops etc...
