My "main" has enchanting as tallent as I figured this was the most realistic tallent as i have and will be farming instances. I considered getting mining as well but not sure. Do all you "seasoned" dualboxers have 10 professions going on for all your accounts? Seems as this would be a nightmare to skill up 10 professions :(

It really depends on what you want from your shams - you can level up professions as you go, but it will significantly add to your levelling time.
Personally - I always get professions, particularly the gathering ones. The can be nice little earners for you, and being able to craft your own mats is always handy.

only a 3 boxer atm, but my main always has skinning and mining, one has herbalism, and the last has tailoring and enchanting. When i get higher i'll add tailoring to my secondary, and drop skinning for tailoring on my main.

If it isn't too late I would move skinning to another toon. You can focus on the mob you want to skin and skin it all using macros. This way you can have another profession on your main which requires more clicking.

I have 2 teams (both team have the pally).
Team 1 with 4 shams. All 4 have enchanting and alchemy. I picked enchanting so i can get the ring enchantments (i know that it doesn't add that much damage, but want the best damage i can do). I picked alchemy cause i didn't think that there where any good professions out there (i know leather work has some good mail but i have one leather and to get anything past 350 is a pain). With alchemy i can make primal waters from primal earth. The earths go for about 5g and the waters sell for 29.5g within seconds (i made the stupid idea of making them 30g last night cause everyone else had them at 32g and as soon as i put them up someone posted 8 primals at 29.9g so i will probably eat those primals cause everyone posts for 30g). so i make away with 23g per toon per day (i have 6 alchemy so i get 138g a day for nothing). It only cost me probably a little less then 2k to get all 5 of them to 350 alchemy (which is the lvl that you need to make the primals, making the primals will easily get you to 375)
On my pally i have alchemy and herb. I know i should have gone bs with pally, but heard that lvling that is a pain and is not cheap. I also wanted herb over mining because there are not too many quests that have you mine, put alot of quests that have you herb (like get so many flowers and such), and having herb on you can see the quests items you need to pick. I have my pally as my main.
On team 2, 3 locks and a priest. I have enchanting on 2 locks and the priest. The reason not on all 3 is because the other lock is lvl 70 and had alchemy and herb max lvl, i didn't want to lose 23g a day for the primals so i kept alchemy. The other skill that they have are tailoring (i got it on the 70 too, dropped herb). The reason is that tailoring is a joke to lvl (plus it feeds enchanting), but there is a really nice spell set at 70.
I power lvled my alchemy and herb (i know you can by your herb to lvl herb, but i had a lvl 60 mount to pick up the lvl 1 herbs so sort of power lvling). If you don't mind spending the money to buy the mats then i would say go power lvling the items it will save you time collecting. If you are doing a gathering then i would say get it early so when you are lvling the herbs/mines that you need are in the same zone as you. Just bank the items for use for later.

IMO at a minimum put herbalism and mining on your main, skinning and enchanting on followers. It will be hard to level herb/mining without radar pings, and it's hard to pay attention to them when they are on alts. Skinning can easily be done with a macro. Just be careful not to loot BOPs on your main, loot them on your ench follower.

thank god if you have it on free for all it still give you a warning saying are you sure you want this BOP item. So if you get that warning just check to see who gets it.

herbalism and mining are best leveled after you hit 60 (or 70) and have your epic mount. You run into too many times where you need to "just" level another 10 points in mining/herbalism and you waste an extra hour picking flowers instead of leveling. Plus if you are instance boosting you will never see a node.
Frankly outside of enchanting and tailoring I would never level any prof while leveling. Just too much of a distraction. Bank stuff if you want. Enchanting levels easily if you instance boost, since you can DE all the greens/blues and then use the mats to further level up. Tailoring levels decently too, although you have to actually pick up all the cloth (and take a small break in the 20s to go gather wool cloth). Skinning is debatable, if you quest a lot it'll be easy to level up and not add much time.
Mining and herbalism and skinning you can level up to 300 in 4-8 hours once you are 70, you just ride around on your epic mount following the radar map.
Blacksmithing, leatherworking, engineering are very hard to level. You either have to plan far in advance and stockpile mats, or spend buttloads of money. Alchemy is very easy, the mats are cheap for the most part. Its a decent daily money maker, but nothing extraordinary. You will rarely make any pots or flasks that you yourself will use, especially nowadays with all the "easy" flasks you can get from various tokens (gruuls, shattrah, etc).

Not really true. A great deal of mining you can level up with smelting.
When you take up mining:
Smelt copper 1-50
Mine stuff til 65
Smelt broze 65-90
and so on...
really you don't need to mine all that much stuff as long as you make use of materials off the AH.
As for herbalism... make sure you get every node you can along the way. You may have to go back to finish some skill up to be ready for the next zone, but imo it's much better to try to level it up as you go than to go back later. Even with an epic ground mount it will take you hours and hours to go from 1-300 just picking.
As for boosting... different dungeons have some mining nodes/herbs. SM is great for boosting while keeping up herbalism. For cath, make sure you have 170 herba when you start getting boosted-- for goldthorn. By the time you are done you could easily have 250+ herba.

funkstar rippoff ennyone?
I have solo alts and mains, I have every profession except Tailoring to 375, so not really looking for anything from professions. And it definitely slows leveling, by a ton. The only exception is skinning, which I have on one toon, I started with herb and mining too, but at around 60 skill points, I left those early zones and never looked back. You have to work at leveling those two, and it never levels fast enough. I haven't really decided what I'm going to do with my team at 70, if they just pvp or run dailies, I'll probably just level whatever profession benefits them most, alch/JC/LW whatever. It makes no real difference to me actually.
